The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
beelzebub replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Im not at all sure what we have in Hogan. He has amazing talent and understanding of the nuances and yet he's also very frustrating . Hishead often seems elsewhere. I've not come to a comfort that he's bought "in" His game is very one-way and yet he does many clever things. He's good. I am very happy if indeed he does choose to stay. Maybe his slovenly ways might evaporate. I really can't fathom there's a real impediment to signing....if he's staying. -

He's not the Messiah Red. He's not as important as some, possibly yourself think. To empower a kid to [censored] you around isn't clever. Is it ? -

Hardly in a meltdown Red. I may be among the lesser number here who simply doesn't think he is quite the football progidy many others guffaw. He is good for sure but very lazy and inconsistent. He isnt for mine an absolute necessity for our success. Our fwd 50 actually functions better without him currently . Imho Right atm we need more grunt and class in the middle. We can muster goalkicking players. My view is simply along the lines of PR himself who says you don't wait till contracts are up to sort your list. Even though that comment was more directed at FA the likes of Hogans situation is the same; so treat as same He signs before trade week or trade him. Is about Melbourne....not 'tickets on self' -

I'll be disappointed if the club doesn't proactively sort this soon. The whole waiting for CBA is rubbish. Can/is accommodated in others dealings already. Id call his bluff. 'bout the club !! -

Dogs need to wag tails Melbourne needs to run this ... Not other way round. Hope all find suitable result -
Strangely the game is dominated by numbers. The score, the reward, the position the money and on and on. Some seem content to consider the competition as though it was some namby pamby pc corrected outing where all the kiddies get a ribbon and no scores are rendered. The reality is anything but. If your not doing better than worse. You're failing We are doing less bad, that's an improvement, but we're not over the line. The ladder isn't arbitrary. It's crystal clear.

StKilda achieved what used to be called a compensation pass. They at least satisfied the first part. They won more than they lost. Had they achieved a better than 100 ℅ then in all likelihood they would have won more games. We achieved neither. Still a fail.

seems to me many are confusing the ideas of passing/failing with progress and or improvement. you can improve...but still fail to pass muster quite frankly...thats us !!

I still find it odd..it's my opinion. -
Not to disregard the rest of your post as was interesting to read. I must confess I'm a bit black and white ( shhh ) about the results for this year however I have us as a fail. We have shown improvements in some areas . We won more games, we have a greater percentage . They are indisputable. In a sense I see it as though sitting a test.. Little Johnny sat the test last year and got a 4/10. He repeated the test this year and got a 5 /10. Effectively the pass is a 6, but "commendable effort " is award for 5, but still a fail. If you haven't won at least half your games and come away with a perc of less than %100 then Im not sure by what metric anyone can award a 'pass' We're somewhat better but still failing
