anyone feel a draught ?

Its Footy...when did logic enter this game ??
-
In case any of you have missed his many interviews he often espouses his maxim that he really doesnt care too much about the losses per se. it how they lose and often you WILL lose before you start setting yourself up for the real wins..the ones that result in a premiership cup. Its not a widely held or agreed to philosophy I take it but it seems to work for him. Bit like Keatings economic ideas I suspect...lol Sheeds just lives for the 'left field".. not all understand it. After Sheeds tinkers and the side gels.. it storms home. W e at the MFC have not experienced anything like a Sheedy juggernaut...well... except on the receiving end ..lol
-
Should Sheeds be appointed it is unlikley it wil be done in a 'long term ' manner, however than doesnt preclude him from being around 6,7,8 years. Just means everyone is being a bit prudent and realistic about things. The four other contenders are coaches at best...Sheeds is a "Package"

Sheedy wants the MFC coaching job - inside word
beelzebub replied to Tex's topic in Melbourne Demons
as I pondered elsewhere.. why is Scwabb included after club said it would not appoint anyone as they wanted ppl involved from the beginning. Something NQR about all this now -
I'd be far quicker to cast blame at 2nd rate faciliteis before I even contemplated a jumping on the "burn Bohdan" wagon. I dont hink its so much a fitness guru issue as much as a bad run with injuries and possibly the less than perfect management of it all.

just need 2 words FOUR PREMIERSHIPS !!!

fair call that it "mightn't" be the silver bullet...but it might be. Well to put into context. You dont often get the choice of this kinda talent. Big men moving !!. Past drafts dont seem to have offered up such gems in the ranks of the rucks. Yes , some good talent, but some of these guys are standout. It the COMBINATION of circumstances which lends weight to tyh eimportance of these piccks. 1) We are desperate to reinvent our ruck 2) we will have a good early pick 3) there is outstandig talent in the big boy dept top be had ..but will go early it is very unlikely we will get such a choice for some time as we will be better next year and it seems 'taller stock' of this calibre only come around once in a long while. We do have some midfileders....they need feeding. well they need to be injury free and fit first I suppose. But we do have them.Topping up is a priority..but its behind getting a new tall, even if its unlikely he would do that much in the first year. Keep in mind any real change of fortunes will take 2-3 years. Yes I agree....its not a guaranteed cure all. But it WILL help.

Something fishy about all this all of a sudden. Point: When Fagan announced he was leaving the club came out and categorically stated that he would not be replaced in the appointment panel as they would wanted someone who was involved in the whole process from the begiining. Then 5 mins later ( well.sorta ) announce Scwabb will be coming on board. Something a bit iffy about this..Who's been telling porkies ?

id rather pick 2 than 4...you get to pick...not the left overs so to speak..sounds crazy I ackowledge!!

Match of the Century (Tank Talk Merged)
beelzebub replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
This match reminds me of the Cycling race the Kieren ( think its that ) one where each tries to psych out the other .. Same thing this game of footy except you want to trick the other team into playing when you're not !! lol -
its funny..many seem to think we dont have as much to lose by winning as Carlton... but we do really, just not as abvious until you think through the process and realise who is around come what pick...we NEED pick 2
-
wont float....for then the AFL would have to concede that TANKING actually exists !!
-
Without really stating the obvious...draft picks only have currency during the draft. weve got some youth still to come through properly. Some will make it..some wont. Nothing Einsteinian about that. We will hopefully end up with picks 2 and 18...and some others...its the others which might be intersting. These used in conjunction with any "tradables" ( players ) may be a way to sweeten any pies to garner some 'Better' players. After that week the picks obviously carry no currency..( other than our possie in the PSD ) Im for using the early pix to get one or two who can all but walk up start ( well at least play off bench after a good solid preseason ) Use the latter picks to bolster any trades.. We wil lstil lend up with some picks..and CAC seems legendary at pulling a smokey...but I still see this as a bonus and not the prime motive. Kruezer will go at 1...we'll be silly not to take Cotchin/Palmer...the rest is all but academic. Doubt any Selwoods wil be around come 18. is there anyone interesting who could be snared with father /son ?

aaaaaahhh at last SAGE words !! I find it absolutely amazing how much this is overlooked, whether it be the Mesiah Judd or our own Beamer etc. For mine the min you diagnose Op the value of any player takes a huge dive. Yes they will still have good games but for the most part you are nursing them, hardly sound reasoning in picking or continuing with a player. Some say thats harsh at worst or unrealistic at best. Id say anyone who considers it anything else is delusional. Judd no OP...trade everyones grandmothers and first born's...Judd with OP..not worth a zac long term. Id rather a player with 75% his talent available 100% of the time..( and probably at 50% his pay !!! )
-
Id expect something next week.
-
exactly...no one has any place cemented nor should they. The players work for the team...not the other way round. I have no doubt the new powers that be will keep those that matter..and trade those that can be ( for the betterment ) of the team. If ther's no bettering the team by trading 'this or that' then they simply wont be traded

on the change on tack... it wont hurt if Wheels has to earn his spot....not for anyone really.. its that bit of mongrel and desperation thats been missing al laround.. Might kill off some of this complacency that creeps in from time to time

quite the interesting discussion this. Yes..an ungamely kick at times...that alone must qualify him as a good backman!! lol. I can only base my comments on his performances so far this yer in teh red and blue ( and couple in blue and yellow ) This kid strikes me as the type that will never be the star,,,just a good solid honest worker. He got a littel overawed and wrong footed in his early 'big stage ' games but is settling..well was!! A very astute comment made by another re his performance struggling once a midfiled leaves the gate open. any backline is going to find it hard let alone a newbie finding his legs. I wont hold it agains thim as such. I really dont think Ive seen enough of him yet to make up my mind. He looks a likely lad, he can play but just needs to egt more of the feel of the tempo I sense. Another good preseason, a littel more maturity ( just time on filed really ) and a more 'Demonic'" set of on field team mates and I think he may work out ok. More time in the gym wont hurt. Essentially he's done nothing to illuminate me or to worry me. Keep going kid :-))

..REAL RISK is that Riley would take revenge and coach a win !!! lol

Match of the Century (Tank Talk Merged)
beelzebub replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
agreed..Carlton seem to have more to play for...thats play for...not "WIN" for !! lol..Still it would adversely affect our picks also should they lose.. ..almost eve-stevens..but not quite !! Wonder how many 'academy' awards for injuries wil lbe handed out. Suspect Carlton are at home busy studying the World cup antics as I write !! lol -
If Robbo wants three...he can have three.. at any of other 15 clubs for due recompence. No one is more important than the club and we've been SO clever in our dealings in the past. Even if only the injury cloud he cant command three, he ought to know that. But I'l wait til anything official comes out...all rumour at moment.

Match of the Century (Tank Talk Merged)
beelzebub replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
lol yes its pretty funny that many dont quite "GET " it !! its a game of football chess. The winner loses. Simple really. But the constraints are... you can't look like your playing to lose you cant fake too many injuries, but you can elvate minor ones to "near death" you can only play 6 players at a time out of position at least one shot in ten at goal must result in the six points No obvious forfeits like too many players are allowed in the first 3 quarters. Last one is anything goes. Only 7 kicks per team are allowed per quarter to the opposition. Accidental handpasses are gratis !! Only Melbourne is allowed to use the Stynes technique of allowing 'unfortunate' 50's to be awarded against them. All kicks for goal will probably be taken on the non-preferred foot. All 'hamming' it up will need to score 5 or above in order for the player to be allowed to come off Loss of limbs etc will be treated as flesh wounds only and will rewarded with a free inside the forward 50 to counter such tendencies. waxing with your opponent is frowned upon and finally card games and 'ends' of boule are not allowed in the first half. gunna be the funniest game all year....ought to be our highest attendance...lol
