Sometimes you do indeed have to spend it..in order to make it.. Sometimes in order to SAVE it. !! Have no dounbt many wil see it as somewhat inane come frivolous to be doing this but I have my suspicions its part of what the AFL wants to see in a well run organisation. You need to strike a happy balance between the chiefs and indians as it were. You also need the right people in order to attract other businesses to the fold. I have no problem with this type of development of the leadership in the business end of the club. Theres another old adage..its not so much how you make it..as to how you spend it. Some may see this in itself as applying to the appointments but I would think they might make a better fist of utilising and growing the money than previous tennants of the seats. Keep in mind the successful clubs got their act together in back of office before the results showed up on field.

sorry for doubling up.. didnt see the other page wherever it was.. I dont think many quite yet understand what bringing in the right people into these positions will accomplish. Im very interested to see how long before we see some other left field ideas happen. Quietly excited about this club at this time.

Demons Strengthen Senior Management An interesting comment was made by Schwabby to the idea that the Club has had the benefit of many efforts by many well credentialed folk over time and gave well intentioned efforts. That no one particularly put our club where it is but wa sas much a result of other forces etc. He's probably right. In acknowledging that one also must ralise that much wasnt working and that some freshness and diferent ideas and people need to give it their best. Along this path two recent appointments ought to help; John Poulakakis will join the Club in the role of Chief Commercial Officer while Matthew Green assumes the role of Chief Operations Officer. I know nothing more of these gents than iI read in the MFC blurb at top of post but they certainly seem to come from backgrounds where things happen. At the end of the day the MFC is a product. Its many things yes..but its a product with a brand and this has been sorely underutilised or projected for a long time. Im hoping these two fellas can ably apply past achievements to our cause. Welcome aboard gents

Something proffered by good ol' #31 and he was more than serious I reckon, was that in future all major appointments to th eMFc must be to those who actually support ( barrack) the club. From this will come passion and a real desire for success. Peoplel will have to commit beyond jobs being just jobs. We gave him a hear-hear on that one So far recent appontments have echoed this very sentiment.. funny that !! It may be hard to convey this to those unable to attend but there was real optimism on Sunday . Not just lip service..oh yeah..I spose stuff but real fervour and realistic expectations that we will indeed rise again.. and get serious in this game

He made the comment that the current colour was alittel purply in a blue !! I agree. Its not the same deep blue we al love. Ought to be changed..Acutlaly the colours ought to be specified by Pantone.and NEVER fudged with. Stuff what any apparel company thinks.. WE tell them what WE want !! Actaully what colours ( groups ) were we all in.. lol.. Me, Green.. others ? WJ pink apparently..( less said the better huh ) Feed back was mentioned by many as VERY important..I didnt even need to raise it..lol If even just the participation of all the club from CEO and Chairman through Coaches etc being there was any guide.. this mob as a club REALLY want to make it happen. I cant say Ive felt this about Melbourne for a long long time. Despite the pic in the Hun of Barass..he seemed very enthusiastic. Very important idea for next Summit.. COFFEE on arrival .. Have thought of a few more things to add for the club..will sit and write them later. I encourage any and all to keep this roilling along

Queen...I think it was a very helpful day.. It was very positive. You could feel it. I wa sin Gren should any one be curious...lol. In some ways we only now here of th eideas that got through the 'process" of voting yet there were literally hundreds of good ones. . The club wil llook at them ALL. It just wanted to get a feeling of what mattered to us and wha we thought were actionable. Might turn out others( ideas) are usuable if not able to be utilised earlier. Definitely one theme was to get a better handle on the skills base of its members etc and those wanting to offer them. A huge talent goes wanting really. The Dial Dean..lol ..and the after game Supoorters SMS based B & F were good.

Go GREEN !!! ..Actually ask Cuddles what two colours make Green !!! pmsl !! I think many may have a very askewed idea of what today actually was about. It was a "bigger picture " brainsfest of sorts..and nothig really about the playing group at all. Which made sense to me. Some very interesting ideas I thought. Some very left of centre in some respects..to me.. but probably straight as a die to others..and that was the whole point. We could al spend the next five hours trying to recall many of them, luckily the club has them all on paper. I could have seriously killer for a coffee on arrival though..lol Youre all still very welcome to send ideas to the club..This is not about today only...its the start of a process to make us the most innovative club around. Go Dees

compared to 8 its downright evolutionary!! lol.. ah well..no Sunday lay in

AFL's 100 million plan for redevelopment Now we could al go on ad nauseum about priorities here. Might the AFL not be spending money closer to home etc. But if they are going to do this..and Vlad certainly seems hell bent on it then lets for the moment take it as fait accomplit. However, from al lof this comes ammunition I feel for an argument to be put for the AFL to look not at another CBD ground for its next 'smaller" cpacaity AFL ground in Melb but to possibly run with our old favouriote of a chestnut..the Superdevelopment of Casey Fields into a Boutique facility. From the article comes the buzz..."boutique stadium"..."but the AFL is looking to stage the team's non-blockbuster games next door at the showground. Having a smaller, purpose-built ground would provide a more intimate football experience for AFL fans and prove more cost effective"......."it would increase game-day capacity from about 13,500 to about 25,000.".. And why all of this ? Because it want s to push into "the heartland of western Sydney" i.e it wants to firmly get a foothold into its new frontier. Now, just run with me for a moment. If we transposed the West of Sydney for the East of Melbourne..and put the argument that as a newish burgeoning region full of non commited folk towards spots ' that is we cant take for granted that many of these new rsidents will follow AFL that you have precisely teh same siutation with possibly the same solution; develop a Stadium to entice them in as well as making a statement to the region that FOOTBALL IS HERE !! Yes Im totally biased on this but I would think sharper minds than I could pen a decent business case for this. Going to be a hell of a lot cheaper to do Casey than another CBD venue !!

A definite irony given the source..lol.. But amongst his words ( Oswalds ) are the sealers to thsi s deal for me. Its that his is multis-sided and could take a turn in many positions. Should we draft him I would realy like to see Bailey try him out al lover the place. Bails seems to do this anyway. Maaric..an obvious small forward gets a gig far from home etc. The beauty of someone like Watts is, even if he is playing forwad on a day..if he is being nutted ot of the game yo bring him right back into it along a wing.. His defenders wil have coronaries and another of our forwards comes into play. The versatilty to shuffle the cards thoughout a game must surely make this bloke the monty of monties !! Id liek Rich too..but alas we can only have one. Be interesting to see who's still knocking around at 17. Watts not to like..?? Watts left to figure out ?? Watts hard about this selection really

8 o'clock on a bloody Sunday... I like to know who's bright idea that was !!! 9 would have been much more civilised
-
Im with you in being a bit skittish about l alot of this..We've said we're doing this..doing that..going here, going there..Training here there and somewhere. In amongst all this is a plan no doubt. One being hampered by the niggling antagonists aka the AFL. Some would say we already have the franchise on lunacy !! lol

Describing the Collingwood football club
beelzebub replied to The Emblem's topic in Melbourne Demons
There are three kinds of people on this world Men, Women and Collingwood supporters !! -
thanks for all that A33.. great effort. Talk about football...political footy that is.. !! So bascially the State Gov has f**ked up again and wants some bunny to pay for all its failures.. Hopefully we can navigate around all that Given that the redevelopment by Collingwood of other area of that precinct wrent even on the agenda when all this started I think the State Gov and Olympic park trustees need to realise many bets are off..

correct a mundo... That was one thing that was irking the club. Really if we look at Bubbledome form the begiining.. whilst originally a nice idea..along with Teram Melbourne..everything we were lead to believe was either eroneous or pure fiction. Full marks to the club for pulling the pin on it.
-
just ...... for ........you ..lol We will be there full time.., as things exist.; til new digs are sorted and fitted out. We will most likely be there in 09..as nothing is ready anywhere else and you are hardly likely to want to shift everything halfway though a season. Thats ..what is happening..at this moment. I might ask on Sunday for further clarifications. God forbid that Cr Smith was quoted out of context or a media type didnt quite get it right.

Lets try this again shall we..for the benefit of those for whom this reasonably simple setup seems a little too far Casey was ONLY ever going to be a primarily SUMMER training ground. Like many clubs they go elsewhere. CF was also a possibly location for our footy offices whilst ( previously on the cards ) Bubbledome sorted itself out. So even then..We had Casey in Summer.. Bubbleland in Winter.. Utilising Gosch's Paddock. Footy dept to move from Casey back to ( again ..then ) Bubbledome when ready. NOW Highly unllikely to ever set foot in Bubbledome.. posibly a new training facilty within the G..still using Gosch's Paddock.. some supposed negotiations re a session here and there on the G. Personally I rather doubt that bit but great if we can. So we would still be using some facilty in the neighbourhood of the G for training..in WINTER with an occasional sortie down to Casey..just as we have to other places in past. All that really has happened is the possible replacement of Bubbledome with the G re footy dept eventual home and traingn facilities. NOTHING has really chnaged regarding Casey so why would any nong of a councilor get his knickers in a twist unless he has his own agenda ( which he alsways has had !! ) Simple really isnt it !!

Perfect sentiments

Demons want to return to "their" home """"MELBOURNE Football Club has revealed its plan to develop an elite training facility within the walls of the MCG as part of a blueprint for the future entitled "Bringing the boys back home". .......................... Schwab said yesterday: "If this is the paddock that grew, then we are the people that cultivated it." "We have no suburb to hang our hats on the way clubs like Collingwood and Richmond do. We want our relationship with the MCG to be reflected in everything we do." """" ( The Age ) Very interesting idea. Fantastic if this could come to fruition. fingers crossed. Schwabby seems to have found his home too

Ah slowly but surely the fog lifts !! its very sentimental to adopt the G for all reasons...but we cannot afford to play at the G all season !!
-
we just need this..we would be ok if only that.. !!! You cant sit back and expect everyone to do it all for you. You need to be proactive and wrestle back control of your destiny. Not be at the beck aand call of others whims. Casey IS a VFL ground at present...doesnt always need to be. Manuka.. Aurora..even Carrara etc. arent your normal AFL venues either. Quite frankly as long as peopel seem to think everything revolves around the G then you are doomed to an enternity inthe hell called a quagmire. A better deal wil lhelp there, no argument..but its not the clincher. Why spend money ?? To make it for christs sake ! Its the way of business A future development at Casey willbe something I will be broaching come Sunday
-
A point many plainly fail to grasp is that there will always be "those" games that dont pack the rafters. The idea of a boutique stadium is about reutns for attendances etc. Done right you will get as much money out of 15-20000 bums on seats or feet on ground in a smaler stadium where you have some say in the advertising the catering ...the bloody everything as compared a venue where you get bugger all. Am happy to pursue a stadium of sorts at Casey in future. Good ol home ground advantage too.. The sqawkers do it now..its just in another State.. think outside the oval peope

Please make this guy captain next year!
beelzebub replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Rhino..I sort of agree.. but !! I think Junior would make a great mentor of the captains role for Maclean. I dont want to just hand it to him I want him to know how its done properly. Junior was far and away the better of the two ( he and Bruce ) at leading the club. Possibly Junior's role will reduce as the year runs on and in a way that may work well lfor Macca to step up after the handling the understudy's mantel.
