  1. Talent or no talent yo can only work with what is fit and on the track and I cant bee anything but unimpressed by our midfiled in reent times. whether this is a direct corrolation to Williams or not possibly time only wil ltell. Am happy enough to have a new person appoited to look after the engine room. Will be interesting to see who it is.
  2. Whilst I have nothing against having ROK.. He simply isnt in our budget etc. It does also seem to fly in the face of previously noted sentiments by the club to go the youth road. Strange , to me, that the club would even voice this. PSD to be interesting for sure.
  3. Why does it concern me that nothing has been made public of the meeting between Casey and MFC yesterday. Surely there cant have been that much unknown or ambiguous requiring further delving ??
  4. Hypocrisy.... AFL ??? what you mean they arent the same thing ?? Its hard to really understand how anyone lets this bunch of idiots loose on a multi billion dollar organisaton !! Honestly , it confounds me. WJ...any illusion as to a level playing field come Melbourne ( fc) simply doesnt exist...you ought to know that by now
  5. Roost It , what you say is essentialy quite correct, especially the one thing leads to flow on effects. what concerns myself and many is...whats all of a sudden so hard about this deal. It was all but done, everyone was happy. Apparently there was/is some consternation about geting it more like a 10 x 10 x 10 as opposed to one 30 year hit. But you would have to think this is a small hiccup, something a lunch meeting would overcome. So it seems to me there is more to all this than anyone is letting on about What many are talking of is the 600G community effort, again you would have to thik this isnt a big deal. its not like we are spending any real money, its all relative value. These are things any forward thinking club would be championing anyway. I fail to see this is the real stumbling block. So what has REALLY brought this thing to a grinding halt..or rather WHO is bringing this to the point of collapse ? Were not talking Millions of dollars here..nor are we talkig our central home, its really a side show to the whole Melbounre Circus, a sort of summer holiday house. And all these brillaint business brains are stuggling with the lunch order !! great isnt it !!
  6. Any wonder we have such a bad reputation as a club. You have to wonder if they could get the lunch orders right let alone inter business contracts !!
  7. They have had far and away long enough to get this done RIGHT !!
  8. This whole thing has got bogged down in crossed purposes and misunderstandings. The 600k is not a monetary value that is actually paid..Its the VALUE attibuted to the particpation in programs etc that the council would normally have paid other to do. Its a sort of contra deal with a monetary value given for purposes of for want of a better word, barter. Whilst not costing the club nearly that much per se it will cost in effort and to some degree expenses Goven that this was all but over the line, done and dusted the only element to have changed is the make up of the Melbourne board. I now throw it squarely at this group to get it sorted. MFC ..get it sorted.. youre embarassing thte club. Its all well to come in spouting this and that..but you obviously had no plan and no idea.. Get it done and get it done NOW.. Show some professionalism
  9. As its a related thing.. and as some have already mooted ...If any of us get the gong to attend this summit we must emphasise til blue in the face that part of Melbournes image problem is that many see us as not standing for anything..or more importantly..not STANDING UP for anything. Collingwood and Essendon fans love it ( and rightly so ) when they tell the AFL where to get off reagarding jumpers. It shows they have spirit..have backbone and care enough to fight..In stark constrast we wear Pajamas !! No one will jump on board if we are nothing but Marshmallows coverd in Blacmange !! As to anyone confusing our logo with any other club..well tough..WE WERE HERE FIRST !! Melbourne needs to climb down off of the lofty Members stand and get a little Mongrel in it. If kids are confused...educate them.. its not hard ffs !! We are me1bourne ... first club of the AFL !!
  10. I'll happily stand , sit, rollover corrected bu I thought the essence of the impase was MFC wants the same sorta deal timelines that the Scorps do...thst all. Just want 10 x 10 x 10 ..they are rightfully baulking at 30..as who knows what shppens in 20-30 years time etc.
  11. In a nutshell..YES !!
  12. Surely the correct stance is they are an INVESTMENT in the fidelity of the competition ! This then conveys to the public..i.e the bums on seats investors of the comp that they ( afl ) have made a real & reasonable effort to effect bone fide of the sport. Things can be argued many ways my friend. Again..judge by what they do..not wehat they say..and they do sweet stuff all re drugs...when it really comes down to it.. Its all lip service. All gloss - no substance ; and we dont mention 'substances' at the AFL !! lol
  13. This, only my opinion but I tend to side with those that argue or purport that the AFL has no real interest in seeing anything come to light. For mine, this is why: The AFL runs the largest comp in the land. There's lots and lots of money , prestige etc etc etc. All it really wants is the overall "entertainment package " to continue on its merry way filling its coffers and providing a rather convivial existence for al concerned. It doesnt want apple carts turned over. It doesnt want "things" it has to deal with whose bringing into daylight will only cause consternation and bother. It doesnt want any of this. Far easier to me to just find ways of never having to deal with it. Lets have a three strike policy.. No other code anywahere is so lax and lenient, it almost goes to condoining the use let alone punishing it. But even then only has any effect if you do test. So next part of the ploy is to have minimal testing. You dont have to fix what isnt broke..or reported to be !! All the whiles it can 'say' its doing all the things required of a responsible administration in keeping with public sentiments etc. To me its an out an out con..an attack upon the sensibilities of any intelligent person who can see through this sham. The AFL has ITS agenda..nothing must upset the Vlad manifesto. It wouldnt surprise me in theleast if leaked whispers allowed the status quo to be maintained. The AFL just want the game to be played..it cares for absolutely nothing else. If it did ..it would have adopted the much tougher approach, and enforced it. But that my learned colleagues costs money and the AFL likes to keep it money for its pet projects...like 20 million [censored] up against a wall in West Sydney...gee..a fraction of that could buy a few drug tests huh !! To see where teh AFL really stands...listen to nothing it says...just observe what it DOES !! the picture is quite clear
  14. Toot ...as youre new here I'l lgive you a bit of a heads up. The clash jumper fiasco has been discussed here many times.. heres something to read.. start here clash jumper thread All is not as it may seem
  15. Youd have to think so..logically...But we are taking the AFL !!
  16. many names an such are thrown around regarding sponsorship. When looking at his you need to understand teh function of it as its seen by the sponsor. In simple terms its awareness and getting a name known. These can be slightly different things depending on the sponsor. I.e TAC was all about wipe off 5. etc..awareness. LG's was Brand ecognition...getting seen. Sponsors in Sports are invariable companies trying to forge an identity with a goodly sized budget for a number of years to do this.its the price you pay to get into the "game"..that game being whatever field your in ( as sponsor ) Many companies and organisations proffered simply wont fit this type of scenario. Many companies who work in teh area of consumer spending may decide one of two routes. To spend more to get into peoples faces and teh economy tightens..or to back off and round the wagons until the spening frees up again. Again, its invariably companies in the money markets that have money to spend. People need money even more when things are tight and the battle to get that next customer hots up. New areas of endeavour are businesses in the areas of Power generation, especially the so called "greener" guys . You have companies that are specialising in making other companies greener etc. an example is within our own club Szental. This is going to become a very larger sector of business, definintely worth pitching to..this style of business that is, not just Szental Group..but this ilk. Putting a badge on a clubs jumper has to return a dividend for the payer, its not about benelovence.
  17. I agree... when times are hard etc.. the Financial marketeers start getting all antsy and want more market share of all those looking to refinance etc. strange but true !!
  18. been told today ? Dont come spell nazi with me thankyou. Either contribute..or shut up !!
  19. Im but a mere member of the public...not nearly as wise as the astute and adroit practitioners of advertising such as luminaries of that skill like Gardner an Co , nor George Patterson but I would have thought that an emerging Chinese consumer brand might be worth looking into. i.e..a new LG as it were; any company wanting to get their new name in front of people..exactly the same way LG has...funny that. Car companies are a bit hard as tier one as Toyota gets all shirty. Geelong had Ford way before Toyota came on scene and thats why Geelong quite rightly and nicely tells everyone to get stuffed. New contracts cant. Am emerging Finance company is also worth a look.
  20. Id have a few ideas to put for sure.. Id also mention the degree of professionalism thats portrayed as a club. Thats not to take away any and all efforts but its the little things that irk people. lil bummed am still up for a book..lol.. daughter wont let me squirm out of that..and she had forsaken a day out to do so.. had knocked back an invite.. Im an adult.. ( mostly) and doesnt faze me too much. But its interesting that as they were having a day to survery how kids view things..I can tell you that one kid thinks that Melbourne is amongst the biggest wankers going now !! And I dont blame her..So like kids do..she'll mention that at school..and on it goes.. As they say ..Takes a long time to build goodwill..takes secs to destroy it !! Kids 1..Melbourne 0
  21. Have you the slightest idea how clueless this makes you sound ?? All dealings have been with the City of Casey regarding the sporting arenas at Casey Fields with a view to contributing to the general community...of Greater Casey in general. There is NO town of Casey per se. Casey Fields is located in..well blow me down if it isnt Cranbourne ..go figure. You are however somewhat right in saying Cranbourne alone is not Casey..but its where we're talking about. Casey Fields is an Assett used by the wider community of Casey ..not just Cranbourne. Im sure most of us are clear on this....are you ?
  22. well..put name down too.. still..will wait and see.. Wasnt required for kids survey..so might dip out again..lol

  24. Mate..i do hear the words.. We arent the shiniest object by far..currently. Would be a fairly shallow thinker ( potential-player ) not to realise we wil have decent digs in the near future. I agree its rather a concern than NOTHING seems inked. Maybe its just me.. If i was in these blokes position Id find it rather exciting to be at the start of something, to be very much part of it..as opposed to a Johnny come lately type elsewhere. Maybe we're just inept at selling it. S'pose a powerpoint is a bit lame
  25. err.. we have our HQ in inner Melb !! Its our SUMMER base thats going to be in Casey !! SUMMER.. everyone..including Ferris ..its our SUMMER training ground ! Richmond is developing in the same manner we wish to develop Casey !! No arguments...Hawks got a great deal with Waverly So you understand that bit..its SUMMER.. Why is having a Spanking new facilty not attractive. ?? I just dont get this point of view..sorry
