I cant help thinking along the lines of leopards and spots...what walks lke aduck etc. This clown has had ample opportunity to repay the club of its patience and yet time and time again he seems more interested in a beer and a giggle. Thats fine by me... but just bugger off and let he footy to footballers. This is the AFL..not a suburban club where such things need to be tolerated. I think its a shame.in many respects as there IS some talent..and it goes to waste. More the point how would you want to be an up and comer in the club only to see someone get chance after chance all while you are working diligently and in the clubs interest, yetnot geting acall up just in case ol Col decides to actually turn up and play. Id be mightily [censored] off !! so much the sense of Deja Vu about all this lets wait ?? Lets not !!

It concerns me that we HAVE actually seen the best that COl can deliver..and posibly he knows this too and so creates his own cause-situation justifying an excuse to not perform to OUR expectations Quite frankly im totally over him and the sooner he makes way for a real player with real resolve the better. He shows in fits and spurts without really ever stepping up.He should havedone so by now, mentally if not even on the field. This may not sit well with Col-brigade andso be it.. Results speak... his arent too brilliant. There are many now on the list who can and will readily usurp his hold on a jumper.. cant wait !!

I agree... two bites of the pie Twice the publicity for the club. Plaudits to all concerned.

D333 I would summise that apart from those of us with any real interest in our club mnay have absolutley NO idea what we are or about to be. In a way that suits me fine as we are about to climb quite commensurably off the bottom dwelling echelon and make a deserved rise ( albeit slowly ) up the ladder. We arent pretty as come media presence..in fact we're doormats..so be it..only performance and results will change that percepetion.
-
Meesen is as about exciting as blacmange at a kids party displaying trifle, icecream cake and lolliess !! enuff said
-
D333 ..probably no doubting that.....but they are only buying into the same trip. The kid has tickets...written by others.. He has yet to do ONE thing in anger for our club. Let him develop and show his worth. p.s..Id rather slow and steady than a quick burn out
-
Am sure also he will..seems quite collected as an individual. Its nice to know what we have up our sleeve but happy to be grounded by what will run out. Potential is really a great thing..but our real MVP's are the ones that can add to the eqation. JW can do little more than watch.
-
Jack Watts is all about potential.. hes currently worth bugger all on a field, and unlikely to be any different til 2010. All wonderful stuff by why burden the lad ??
-
Surprise ??? He'd shock our collective socks off i feel if he amounted to much more than a liability on the ledger !! He's not like Jake..he's supposedly a ready made, just raw!!. Hes far more the latter rather than the prior !! Jake even when a real newby showed intent , inded purpose..just no pizazz or deportment...; he's found these, but stil a bt raw. . Meesen just doesnt seem to light up at all. Happy to be proved wrong...who wants to lay their hard earned that this will be the case ??
-
quite simply he's playing because Jake cant !! No a resounding endorsement is it !!

Allegiances are a funny thing. I grew up in Chelt/Beauie..( hold it agaist me it you will..lol ) Saw many a Zebby game.. saw many a Sainters game actually. I can remember standing next to the posts at TBO last year at the game against the Scorps.. and funily enough I had mixed thoughts.. Ironic now.. I saw Maric do some marvellous things and came here and relayed them.. ( also remember being less than inmpressed with a certain M-ruckman..lol ) Point being I personally wil have no probs with following the Melb participation in the Scorps..and feel no loss to the Zebs. but thats me. Certainly a strange reality that its all abou tface.. but as it is..Im happy to follow whatever team develops ours. I wish Sandy success...I wish Scorps premierships !!

In all honesty its rather irelevent what WE think..its what he CAN do. So far no one has really seen anything of note. He will...if it evolves..front in Red and Blue by defualt, hardly anything for the CV !!!
-
I sincerely think that we shall look back in 20 and just shake our collective heads as to how fortuitous we were to have cracked this allignment. The Peninsula offers nothing.. I live on it.. i live a stones throw from where the Sainters will be.. its ....its...its.. a perculiar place for such a place to be honest. The Saints have always had a presence in this part of the world..well certainly the last 10 -15 years. They wil only cement what they already have here ..no humungus growth to be had..unlike.. Casey !!!

Intralot is actually Greek..and going down the gurgler here
-
Bruce...as a forward.....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh were not talking about the clubs greatest kick here !!!!!!!!!!!! Think i'll pass on this idea

We're not having a tilt at the finals this year. Slow and steady wins these races. I expect Bails to allow Spencer to furhter refine his craft for a while inthe magoos then use auto elevation mid year to bring him into the line up. If an injury causes a vacancy ...so be it. Am not overly concerned in this matter. He be up and firing well before 2010..so its all good really

Possibly as those clubs already have secure sponsors.. and couldnt offer the premium spsce on a jumper as we can. They could indeed have donea Tassie thing...except theres no team there..a minor thing I concede
-
The rebranding aplies to Vic and Tas only.is already woolies everywhere else.so a team that is Victorian-centric would make sense..no sense sponsoring Sydney as already anawareness of that particular guise of the brand.. down here however it would help promote the new logo etc..I.e brand awareness
-
You could actually advance the argument that as Woolies are rebranding in Vic it might actually serve a purpose as brand reinforcement to sponsor someone.
-
In a fashion ..I do agree,, that is.. some value may be diluted by sharing. But then it does come back to bang for buck in that instance and so a different level of return would have to be expected. However..youre unlikley to get similar companies co sponsoring so there is still a lot of good exposure to be had for those ( whichever) companies getting on board. A clever company might get some serious mileage on the cheap ( realtively ). Their logos are still going to appear on the Club stuff.. they will still show up on the telly..etc etc. Footy sponsorship is mostl likely about brand reinforcement of some sort. No one is ever going to use a footy jumper as the only vehicle to get their message / logo /name out I would suppose that possibly the club would have one logo on its chest and another on its back. Multi-sponsorships can work and do indeed work in many sports. end of day..something is far preferable to nothing

The true injustice is the stance of the AFL. what Carlton does ..Carlton does.. is it 'ight' ? Probably not but as ususal they find a way around it. Seems the AFL is more concerned with perculiar ajudications of time honoured playing methods rather than the Elephant in the corner called rorting !!
-
11-12 I dont think we will be the easy beats..nor the worst of the also rans this year. With a new deal regarding the MCC we might just start to make real claims as to the ground being OURS !! and making it hell for visitors. So much of footy is between the ears !! 2009..not to be as bad as some
-
As Sylvinator alludes there IS actually a bit of fire power yet to return to the fold this year. I dont think we have seen our best avail 22 hit the grass this year in anger yet and until that happens we probably are premature in getting too maudlin just yet. There were actual moments last year when we actually played decent footy..just was the exception rather than the rule. With better training and fitness comes better preparation , this leads to more occasions with the best avail taking the turf. This leads to greater competion and more cohesion. Backline seems to resolving itslef..and quite honestly this is what let us down for a long while. We couold kick a few goals...just gave away far too many easy ones. This wil dry up considerably as this back unit builds and plays together under pressure. We have some who can kicks snags...just no BIG star any longer. I agree with many that the midfield really needs an overhaul. This is just not functioning properly. Still, with Spencer get a bit of the ball we might start looking more like an offensive team rather than a reactionary panicked mob. One can only hope !!
-
I know it was brought up at the summit..that is...why not garner as many sponsors as possible as opposed to all in one basket if not available. The spaces on our chest and backs is still worth a lot of exposure to the right and forward thinking company. With a modicum of improvement the media will be all over us again. Thats a bargain for the sponsor

Colin Sylvia- Complaints, Congratulations and Comments
beelzebub replied to Don24's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon the overall disclaimer to Col is to take him in context of WHEN. By this I mean he came along as a very high draft pick when we really needed some major return for it. In a virtual drought of real success we needed Sylvia to be one of THOSE players. As a result much expectaton is piles on his plate. Move forward and with a differing climate amassing around the club with many new faces and, I think its reasonable to say , a fair fist of talent if raw aboundig the place that we might not look so focusedly towards any single player now in the same way we did towards Col. Essentially; He came along..we used a high pick, we had great expectations..it hasnt materialised. His prediposition to do as many good things as bad for me puts him in the ho-hum basket. He really needs to fix that , all the whiles looking over his shoulder as he is now VERY easily replaced. So would say the quicker the better. He has about 3-4 games to stave that off in my opinion or he's for the heap ( scrap!! ) All this.." he will be ..."..geezus folks..hes been around a whiles now..and thats the rub !!
