You know.. 2-3 months ago I wouldnt have even contemplated this guy. But there's a strange compulsion about it. Now before some of you get all your knickers and Y fronts in a knot., I'l lexplain as best I can my thinking. Can he play ? without doubt on merit he's a gun. In fact..On song he's a class above most in our team.. Hard to swallow for many, but that just IS !!! Has he put a foot wrong lately ? No all year he's apprently knuckled down and shown amazing work ethics considering he doesnt really know if he will be inducted once more. That takes guts for mine. Does he fit the youth mould ? No..not in the slightest. But he does have a couple of good years left in him without doubt should he keep toeing the line. Do we need some serious mettle through the middle. ?? Does a bear sh!t in the woods !! We are trying to develop our KPP's.. We are trying to build both a forward line and deence of note. Hard to condition a forward line if it gets no balls fed to it !! A defence can get very despondent if its under unabridged attack all day. Can we afford him.. ?? well he'd be a bargain next to the likes of Warnock etc ( rob) Yes we are trying to get more game time into players, to better theri comfort with playing at the elite level. Its better and easier to do this if you arent being smashed from pillar to post each week. Would he be taking up a spot that another could use better. ?? Well get rid of Chopper and get Cousins...that would have to have an upside ??? All Im saying is look at this from all sides before making your mind up!! He's a smokey ( sic) of a very dfferent kind. If he's clean.,..then hes a poster boy for what you CAN do...even after you stuff up. You're never too old to REACH for your goals...Are ya listening Jimma !! He could be a very handy interim player as our team of real gells together over the next 2-3 years !! Our rebuilding is a series of steps..not one big jump. Please to consider !!

No one probably expected too much from him so he has already surpassd expectation. Has shown a littel without setting the world on fire. Has some sense and ability with ball, which seems rather attracted to him. He wil lget more chances in 09 to show what he's made of. If thats not enough then he will go by years end. I will trot out the inevitable..another preseason and more settling into his place in rarified air of the AFL might see him OK Wil watch with interest.

Carroll is a wildcard...or rather a card that is wild. Unlike a wildcard which has mecurial value when played at the right time...Nathan has very little value whenever he is played. He's a bit of a Jack is ol Chopper.. looks good on first squiz but is useless unless an Ace is next to him to give real value. No..this fella is a discard... put him at the bottom of the deck !!

Suzanna. I find it very difficult to disagree with any of that lol. I am still finding things at Melbourne rather frustrating. Even more as they seem to be want ing and seem to be saying ..and seem to be doing all the right things....and yet ..I see NOTHING concrete as a result. I do understand that sometimes even with the best and real of intents things can get bogged down in the minutae. My gut however says this isnt one of those occasions. Melbourne DOES need a home. Melbourne also needs a future identity..and those two parameters are NOT necessarily the same cut of the jib!! There was much hullabaloo about team-Melbourne and its associated benefits. and we've all seen that flushed down the tiloet. However a similar situation of sorts could develop with possibly synergies between teams located out at Cranbourne. To be sure we all have to realise that the undertaking is generational in its kind and if a few more weeks of tinkering are required to get it right, then so be it. However..if this club of mine stuffs up yet another golden opportunity due to stupidity, ineptness and amatuerish abilities.. then I might just have a long hard look at why I even bother following this club. It needs to show us all it is both capable and can actually stand for something..Or is the MFC just the biggest bag of Wannabe, gunnabes couldabeens ever !! I hope not. With all due respect..why should I.. They have set up a you beaut web sign on etc. You give them your details..and they say they will contact YOU..I , in my sillyness, expect that they would do so in business hours at a time when they can , given their resources. I dont expect silver service..I dont expect miracles.. I just expect them to do what they say they will do. its not hard. I dont suffer fools in business or elsewhere.. Stangely I make no exception for the MFC . They have my money..they can do what they say they will. No more, no less. I say it again.. dont do these things unless you can deliver. Im having to bribe my daughter .. She barracks for StKilda but is prepared at a cost ; equivalent cash for voucher, a book..and lunch of her choice , plus..and I dread the words..'shopping in the city', to do Dad a favour. You can bet if this was one of those "other " clubs we dont speak of.. Id know by now !! edit: Judging by the lack of comments regarding this enterprise they (MFC) cant be too inundated with offers to neglect any. Am I the only one who said YES ??

Well..Ive sent off a rather blunt to the point email.. kept it civil.. but Im not happy. If you are going to entertain doing these things..it helps to do the follow up..otherwise you look amateurish !!

PSD=Some well hidden little known Smokey...unless ..someone falls into our lap..highly unlikely If people dont want to play for us..so be it. Am not about to lose sleep over anyone So again.. lets see if the MFC can pluck something gout of thin air..So far its picked its nose and its arse and come up short. We dont need any expensive imports.. We need to box clever. There will be opportunites next year for enterprsing players to step up and claim a guernsey as theirs..if they want it..otherwise we wil revisit this al again ( as we will..lol ) this time next year. People ought to be reminded..there is no quick fix. Its a process.. It will take a few years..not overnight !! We dont even know who is in the PSD...lets wait and see...then we can talk from some sort of realistic standpoint.. until then its a waste of pixels

Melbourne's Trade Week in summation: We all took a jump to the Left....and then a step to the Right...Took two steps forward...three steps back and fell over landing exactly where we started !! lol Am disapointed as a few genuine opportunites obviously werent ordained; such is life. As a positve...we didnt get another Meesen !! lol Will be interesting to see if any 'gems' show up in the PSD Without doubt a handful of near misses will be recorded, but in the end...all for nothing ahh well !!
