I'll happily confess I am not privvy to anything like some folk ( or profess ) but observing the various chatter.an element starts to firm up . i.e that Scully and Trengove will go one and two and that its more likely that Melbourne are looking to grab another KPP(potential ) either through direct drafting at or around 18 or using it with player(s) to trade to a better selection. I tend to agree with Old and such that I doubt we'd get our first choice come 18. Also agree that it can be a bit of a chance lottery . Griffiths could be worth the gamble but theres a possibility of a smokey in the midst. Again some suggest that possibly Daw is this. Im still not convinced we will retain 18.

When Barty burst on the scene i was mightily impressed with this kid.. ..wheres it gone ?? Very borderline as a retainer for mine. caveat... Hes had a shocker of a year in many respeccts and on that basis I'll give him some largese but he will probably be kept if not traded and needs to do a mighty preseason and come out scalp taking.

not so miraculous.. I broke the same bone many years ago skiing...(well hell I am a Melbourne supporter ). I didnt have access to the wonder medicine of now ..nor was it plated.. I was jogging back on it in 3 weeks (heavily strapped) and running in 5.. Yep it hurt a bit .. As many state its non weight bearing.... just dont knock it when broekn though... smarts a bit. . I suspect it wasnt a clean break for Pendles and Im not surprised that much.. .well a little..2 weeks at elite level.. fair effort...i would have thought 3 to be back at training. Well.. I would have to presume that the club would do its due dilligence and make sure Burgoyne's knee is assessed as in any ways it can be beofre truly talking turkey. In a way Im not really fussed either way..if we get him for a reasonable sum or trade ( picks..players..whatever )then all well and good. If we dont.. we are still well on the track to decent footy. What it does , for me, throw up in this scenario is the futures of several of our existing players. if you suddenly have the likes of Burgoyne, Scully and Trengove in the middle then how important are Brocky , Jones and Beamer ?? Valenti would obviously be going on a long holiday and Im sure he wont be alone. Surely the club has ideas regarding Blease etc. Could be getting a little crowded in the sqaure

The kid was pretty persisant for an answer and I sensed even then my whole school life might revolve around uttering a correct answer. Well, i now lived in Melbourne...so I thought theres bound to be a team called Melbourne.. so right there and then , in pure ignorance I niaively offered up.."MELBOURNE"... "'I barrack for Melbourne !!!! " This announcement was met with approval.... :D I cant even say I jumped on the band wagon as I had no idea we were reigning Premiers , was just dumb luck Barracked for them then...barrack for them now....and every day in between Go Dees

I thought that was probably amongst the more relevent things he had to say . To say drafting is/has been a joke is somewhat farcical and hypocritical given his line of work and speed with which he can get his pen out to sign kids Not all of Ricky's judgement calls are quite on the money Hows them taxis and trams huh !! Back to trade week ..... whilst the gamesmanship of some players is just that , in order to raise the awareness of their true ( or interpreted ) value ; there will be a lot more foot traffic come this October by sheer weight of numbers in exodus of their clubs. Many ( players ) have , quite rightly I suggest, appraised the impending climate of uneasiness as a result of looming GC and WS and decided now was the most opportune to roll the dice. Some of what Nixon says must be taken with a view to his interests. He would much prefer a system of player selection that contributed more to his own revenue streams An aspect of the looming draft to be taken into thought, for mine is that whilst genuinely shallower than many past I dont quite concur that it necessarily means it will peter out quite as quickly as some suggest. The 'thinness' of the draft comes about because of the change in age criteria for this years draft effectivley cutting out 4 months of otherwise fruitful ( or not ) pickings. I tend to keep in mind these are the youngest of the crop and even if they were to still be included the vast majority would appear much further down the draft list than the completion of at least the 2nd round. So to say it is cactus after 6, 8..10 etc is pure bunkum. The older kids are still there and there is still quite a bit of talent according to many observers right though the first round and beyond. Later 2nd round and 3rd rounds will be a lot more speculative i would think than many previous years. But even recent drafts are full of speculation past the generally agreed upon "prospectives" What it might prompt some clubs to do is not chance there choices too late.. In past years a particular type of level of player might not have been picked up til round 3 or 4 . This year the same types will go a round (at least) earlier as teams darent gamble too much. Some recently moved on players might chance their luck in the draft as well simply as they migh tgarner interest where none would be had with more of the younger kids present. It will be a rather active end of seasons this year. Personally I enjoy this time. Its a game..

You know...sometimes if the value there is no value...then thats what we get !! If at AFL level he has no real currency then thats exactly what the club will expect to realise from any delisting/trade whatever. If as many think Juice is not only at the crossroads but perhaps even the parking lot at Melbourne then it will only be what anoter club espies as overseen potential or misdevelopment as beingof anything going forward. if anything !!
