If by playing a lesser role you infer he can fly under the radar and execute mayhem...then fine As to those considering we wouldnt get what we think hes worth in a trade then that in itself in all reality does tell us what he's worth.. but arguably on the market and he as some suggest hes worth more to us fit and going than to others ( teams ) Please Im not bagging the guy..just asking the qustion.. Is he really what we think he is..? Is there still an upside to come or have we seen the best and what remains are a higgledepiggledy of effective games. I hope not. What I feel will start to occur next year is with the exit of some and introduction of others that the bar will be raised not only in expectations of theh varying groups.. forwards.mids etc... but the actual eforts and results should follow. As this bar is raised some players may be found wanting. Further hard questions will be asked if these 'expected' players dont come to the party. I always thougth in recent times that Mclean would assume the job of midfield general, injury has crueled him. Has he missed his chance...youd think at 23 he has plenty of time to reestablish himself. Perhaps as some astute suggest another (?) solid preseason will find him in good health and raring to go. He'll need to or others will assume his role..and he'll be floundering

That has occurred to me. But then you sort of have the conundrum where he is exacting a very decent salry for not quite holding up the role hes supposed to fill.. In a sense the kids would be covering his butt !!.. Do we as a club deserve a better return.?? devils advocacy I appreciate..but alas..its there to be asked.

Its not broken...dont fix !!

stats...the most warped cue in the rack !!

The fact remains that in all reality Brocky as our 'premier' midfielder ( supposedly ) ought to be capable of tearing open games . He doesnt really. often equits himself quite respectfully but not to the point many would feel he ought to be imposing himself. He could fit into another team where he is less in the limelight ..if so id wish him well.
-
quite happyto be silly if thats all it will take
-
Port have learnt somewhat ..... they'll work out a trade of sorts..even if not equitable per se..better they get something than nothing

Another great read.. love ol Yeata.. an absolute champion of the club. Tassie would have been proud for such a player to wear that number So...ah.... whats this connection..huh ...spill !!!

Scully and Butcher at Visy Park today
beelzebub replied to Demonic_Inferno's topic in Melbourne Demons
If he were to slide to 18..and we still had 18* I would take him then. He's a bit more of a project then a ready to go for me. In 2-3 he could be something..or just another couldhavebeen !!. Still not a #2 contender * I suspect we wont as having used it as part of a trade. -
Sudanese Daw gets scholarship "SUDANESE-BORN draft prospect Majak Daw is one of 11 young footballers to receive a Mike Fitzpatrick Scholarship for 2010." Well this just might have raised his profile and currency somewhat. "Other recipients of the award for 2010 are Nicholas Collins, from Belconnen FC in the ACT, Jake Neade from West Alice Springs, Noosa’s Aaron Laskey, Luke Wilson from Port Adelaide, North Hobart’s Sam Darley, Dyson Heppell and Jed Lamb from Gippsland Power, Bendigo Bomber Zack May, Wilbur Pomorin from the North Ballarat Rebels and William Elliott from the Western Jets." Am hoping this lad has caught the eye of our FD

In all reality Brock is probably safe this year. However if he dosnt light up the mifdield with serious effect next year then I for one wouldnt lose a moments sleep should he be offered as trade. I really dont understand why some consider anyone of limits. If a trade to our 'betterment' can be had ..then you consider it on its merits. Brock is amongst a band of merry warriors for the red and blue who quite frankly have a way to living up to their potential and expectations of the club and its followers. He has played some great games.. but like a couple of his teammates is struggling of seasons late to sting them all together and consistently impact games. Some think this heresy...but why ? I would like him to , and I cant beleive I am saying this.. but to apply himslef with as much vigour at realising himself as his fellow draft pick in Sylvia. Brock is supposedly regarded ( by some ) as elite. Currently, hes good without being brilliant. If he remains so this time next year then Id be prepared to allow another team to gamble on realising his brilliance. Hes a player.. part of the team... Team comes first..simple as that

MFC is going to have to take a rather cold and hard look at some players. Those who have been peripheal and unable to break into the list at times when Ronald Mcdonald would have got a game if available , whether its due to perennial injuries or potential that is slower to realise than a wowsers shout must surely be on the endangered list. More kids are coming through and room must be made. Rough ? hard ? unforgiveing ? probably.. necessary...absolutely !! We are not kids collecting cards.. its not the mob with the best gathering of nearly and could be's thats going to win. Its time to get down to the nitty gritty!! <_<

Melbourne to have new home in Docklands
beelzebub replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
The thing is one neednt prevent the other. As weve seen with Bubble and indeed any venure it takes time. I wholeheartedly agree..lets GOOTJ .. lets improve teh quality of the resources to all factions of the club. But we neednt settle for that either. Should docklands get off the board it would be 5-6 at best before it was available..more likely 7-8 knowing this fair State but we can all but have our cake and eat it too.. We arent committed to MOPT for life.. currently only 5 years. In that time we will know what else is happening and plan the change accordingly. I dont see these two Options ( for want of a beter word ) as competing. -
Have gone back and rewatched some footage where i noted he wasnt the primary focus but still managed to get a lot of the pill... Seems quick by foot with a bit of derring-do about him.Good at getting away into space. Get the impression he really likes to make a play of it. Hell whats another Ranga in the mist. Shame he wont be around come our 3rd pick. Seems a likely player Rohan. Probably still favour Trengove over him.. Cant have them all I suppose

I think Daw has one great advantage...hes learnt how to play footy properly from theget go. Unlike many of us who constructed ( I have no doubt ) some perculiar habits as we grew up emulating our idols. He ( Daw) has a really good action kicking. He might need to punch his handballs a little more forward than up...but gee thats not a bad ask of a kid who has a very good pair of mits !! A lot of his marks are sure-grab one goers. He likes his footy. His genes have probably blessed him with an all day running tank. Without doubt we are at the dawn of a new era. Weve been heartened over the years with teh prodigious talents of many an indigenous lad...we're about to see the birth of a new player......the African. Yes..probably getting a little carried away but its coming...and so will true international challenges.. maybe 10-15 away still. As many from all persuasions at some time watch with awe at teh Jurrahs... so too will we one day at the Daws. Be kind of handy to be at the forefront of this

absolutely.. will depend upon trade week as well as thatwil determine our actual picks. But youre right..it depends. Given recent murmirings you would have to think we will look at some 'prize' in the PSd.. we wil probably rookie two to replace two let go..( seems to be our trend somewhat ).. so thats 3.. ..Now here your observation is manifest. Do we stick to 1..2..18..thats 6 ( 6 replenishments to list for any confused ) so it could well stop there.. or.. depending on trades etc.. we may not have 18 at all..or not have either of 18 and 34...but maybe something in between...but also one player in return of trade.. making 5 ( instead of six..hopefully this is as clear as mud , two players out for maybe a single quality player in trade etc) then.. maybe we use say this left over pick for Daw... It can go so many ways.. I cant see us not using 50..for exactly as you propose..

Melbourne to have new home in Docklands
beelzebub replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
The Pitch at Bubble was never for us..its not part of any argument.. So Im a little bemused at that..lol..so which aspect do you refer..please I dont skim to refute..per se. when so appears somethng to agree upon I'll happily acknowlwedge The holes in the soonto be marraige of convenience ( bubles ) are hardly imaginary, they are acknowledged by all parties. Comparison is valid in so much as the proposed complex... both this one and one preiously mentioned by the State were to esentially be a everything in the box complex at our ( not shared ) disposal. Only the openparkland and ovals to have public access. So even though its only mooted its up for comparison in just thesame way Bubbledome was before it was built. MOPT was once nothig more than conceptual. now its nearly there. You know for a fact that a Docklands complex is NEVER going to be built ? -
why?? whos likely to be there at 34 that has as much potential as this kid ?? Even if we arent clever enough to snare him he will go in the draft...and before 50.... He's garnering a lot of interst.

To me trading is essentially about one notion. Exchanging what you dont need for something that you do. Now , if all things were equal then the value of the players ( players plus picks etc ) would always equate but sometimes the need to be filled is greater than what you dont need ( in value of player etc ) and so ther will be times that FD's will make what seem to be inequitable and bizarre exchanges . To the FD its not as its not-needed out... needed in!! job done. Its in this vein that there will be heartache for some supporters in years to come as their fav unfortunately makes it to the not-needed list. Its about the team

thankyou....just a tad more encompassing Was just rtying to answer the question..hehe..but htis answers them all. Cheers

You cant be rookied by a club you have been senior listed for. Another club can Rookie you though as per ZacDawson by StKilda after being delisted by Hawthorn

Melbourne to have new home in Docklands
beelzebub replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
??? why on earth would he want to do that ? what does he achieve in doing so ? -
Dappa... do you think ( like myself ) that theres just a bit more 'life' in Daws eyes. He really , really wants to play. He's not relying so much on his ability as his determination. I dont see this in Newton, your e.g.
-
ahh... here lays the rub !! its definitely 5 into 4. There will be howls as the various favouites get moved on. we al want to better the team but not apparently at anyones expence. Oh for sure some of the more obvious underachievers will go next year...but in order for more to come in then others must go. I would think that with possibly fewer picks left ( even after WS and GC trade ) that the club will realy have to be focussed and selective on who gets picked. In turn they have to make some dificult decisions as to who stays.
-
I see your point...and I did qualify by saying I based it on what was viewable on the footage...and to be frank that didnt look like much in the way of top - notch decision making. Kicks to contest.. handballs ala Bruce to hospital recipients etc. Turning into traffic to pass as opposed to space. Yep..ok... hes good maybe not his best highlight reel then strangely his disposal efficiency is worse that Scully, Talia,Morabito, Trengove, Stevens, . Will be interested what Predergast thinks
