How the mighty have fallen !!! Ought to be intereting to see the argument, I mean he has already admitted what he did
-
Given that hes only relatively new to the game he must have a very good work and study ethic to take on board everything that he has to date. Such a learner would /ought to do well under quality tutelage. Exposure to better conditioning and coaching could provide great dividends. He's raw..... so are many good players when they come into the system

Melbourne to have new home in Docklands
beelzebub replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
conveneiently you overlook the now and future as being distinctly different things. Yes we will be at Bubbles for the forseeable..as thats what we've signed on for. So Enforcer et al.. you simply discount any possibility of exploring better options ? If youve bothered to keepabreast of teh clubs standpoint they too are none to rapt that we wil still be separated as depts etc and that an all in one home is stil their( not just mine ) preference Enforcer Im surprised youreas stupid as to suggestteh rectangular pitch angle.. far beneath your ability..as you know thats a farcial and irrelevent argument..takes away from anything else really you had to offer. Melbourne needs a home... the club says so..not a shared tenancy. Bubbledome will be interim at best. -
Chas must be turning in his grave !!!

Melbourne to have new home in Docklands
beelzebub replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
When we entered into dealings with Bubbledom we were a basketcase whose very existence was of dubious stability. It seemed like a salvation. All the trappings were there..bells whistles etc Congruent synergies mooted by various other sporting concerns were all to add to the pie. Its come to nought. Our requirements have now grown beyond anything that B-dome can cater to now or in the future. Its a shared facility at best. where will we be on this pecking order ? what sort of value do we get now from this association ? Are we to be the poor cousins in this league again. even North wil have their OWN.. Doggies have their own kennel. what for us...shared digs.. take your turn etc ?? The board that entered into this arrangement are not the same one taking this club forward. They need to explore all options. To not do so would be negligent. -

HAs money been spent by MFC on Bubbledome ...possibly.. but i cant find the 08'09 nor 07/08 financial reports to clarify what was spent as opposed to allocated. The question is do you continue to pursue a flawed model as patently Bubbledome is for us or do you canvass , indeed embrace the possibility of a home...one thats just ours, not shared , purpose built and with its own MCG-like playing field ? Sometimes you make investments and they dont come off...gee...thats a new one The club pays for things everyday that dont necessarily come up to scratch...... ( many wear a jumper !! ) but that doesnt stop you exploring better options. -
Im not sure why..as generally I rate Carro..but she has a bee in her bonnet about the Dees at times. Im sure that Melbourne at the moment arent saying NO to anything. They will probably just sit back at times and see what floats their ( our ) way. We're in a box seat. It does however reinforce that we are/will trade for the right results. Doubt very much lake is part of it though.

Scully and Butcher at Visy Park today
beelzebub replied to Demonic_Inferno's topic in Melbourne Demons
Now back to Scully etc. As remarked elsewhere ( whilst watching the Martin footage ) there were snippets of Butcher. didnt shine too much for me. Seems very one paced and easily casught out if away from goal. He doesnt sem to really know what to do with it if hes not actually attempting to score. Yes hes a farily big boy now and wil probablyfill out a bit more but he'll be playing on blokes just as strong come AFL. Im really not convinced he's anywhere near a #2 choice -

Bob.. the thing for me that showed up the lack of real smartws for gale...was..as you say, he knew he had been smoked out.. He even knew the right way to go about it...in the end. !! Too late then. He should have had enough fox about him to have gone about it in a much cleverer way. To flatly deny it when he knew, and obviously by then he knew Sheahan knew , was dumb. A "no comment' at this time" ..or a gentlemans agreement to give him the scoop come the appropriate day would have had the impression he was an astute man. I dont think he is. He might get better....he'd want to for the Toige's sake. It wasnt so much he lied ..but that he totally balls'd it up. -
I tend to agree.. Now Imonly going off of that footage but Martin whilst seeming a likely lad didnt , for mine, do any that exceptional other thata couple of nice passes. His longer bombs smacked of poor choice..there were a couple of Bruce like hospital handpasses. His decision making might struggle at the top level ( reminds me of another midfield demon ). Pick 2... no where near it. Funy the other things you cansee sometimes. Butcher was very average. Yes he had attention...but isnt that the game.. he needs to shirk it..play cleverer, seems very one paced. That Ranga though...he's got something !! Martin ? didnt displace Trengove for me

Lets see..how many times has Bailey and co reiterated that that their focus is on youth and development. ?? Have we not just let go a handful of older and nearly older types ?? Where is there any logic to this Lake rumour. He , if its all about money will need to look at a club cashed up with a higher salary cap ...a-la Sydney..Maybe even the Lions.... Melbourne.....doesnt compute !! a 27 year old ( 28 by next seasons start ) backman probably looking to cash out his last big contract. I dont really see what the real upside would be for us. Yes..now there's a sensible club objective..."lets just screw over other clubs " ffs..

So why did you bother Bob ?? Whether Mike sooked or not.. Gale fibbed and got sprung in a big manner. He showed...as I stated that he isnt as smart as he thinks. This, the first ( all but ) act as the new CEo of Richmond... yep...highly professional. Richmonds got a winner here Dont assume Bob...you know how that turns out . Im trying to keep it matter of fact.. as it is. -
sorry...was this even a race ???

a reality is we ( MFC ) will be somehow associated with more than half of any rumours if for no other reason than we hold the trump card..PSD1.. The first pick in the Pre Season has its advantages.......and its disadvantages !! forutnately rumours are just that invariably.

Melbourne to have new home in Docklands
beelzebub replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bubbledome..(MOPT ) is simply inadequate and a poor compromise going forward. What we were to have and whatwe now get are two different things. Youd be a mug not to consider a better option if placed on the table. I too would like prof thatwe contributed anything to Bubbledome. As I remember it was the State Gov and its various departmental incarnations that funded this. Happy to be swayed. -

Sheahan got wind of Gale being offered the Richmond role the week before it came to light. Sheahan rang gale to ask for comments.. is this true etc.. as Sheahan was to run the story. Gale categorically denied he was in the running or had an offer etc etc etc.. Sheahan suggested to him this wasnt quite right. Now Gale is supposedly a cluey bloke who has done quite well well for the AFLPA.... but now falls all over himslef in tangled knots of lies. Sheahan apparently rang him again. Still more denials.. Prior to the Sheahan story gale apparently rings Sheahan to modify his stance whilst still essentially pleading ignorance. Sheahan was correct al the way along.. and Gale not only showed he was an inept liar but a poor handler of situations when in the spotlight. He was in a somewhat protected environment at eh AFLPA... now he wil have to show considerably more acumen. Not sure if he has it. still thats richmonds problem. p.s not saying CAC was incapable just that our current FD is more efective already. -
Obviously Judd has succombed to the Fevola virus and turned into a feral d!ckhead too. Thats the only explanation as to why an otherwise talented player turns to filthy tactics. No longer Judd the Stud.....hes now the Dudd Crud !! He got off lightly for mine...disgusting...both the act itself...and the disengenous attempt to explain it away. <_<

Must admit I just happened to catch that 5 mins of FC and was somewhat bemused. Much about this doesnt make any sense. Melbourne isnt looking to get older players.. ..wheres the upside in 2-3 years , opening our window and hes back out of the door , having cost megabucks ( probably ) and we're short again in defence...Not real win there. Lake coming into defence would release garland forward.. thats about the only bit that holds water. I thought no team could make such offers at this time. Yes I know obviously in the Judd deal Carlton must have.. also contravening what Ithought was an AFL protocol. I too think Carro bought a lemon here.

This is really all its about. Issue: Team talent and balance, timelines of maturing players/ post peaking of others, effective currency of anyone at anytime. its a juggling act...get it right..you win..get it wrong.. well...you do your balls!!

Gale...a supposed clever lad and thinker got sprung very quickly by Sheahan as an inept liar. Oh yes..heres a man on top of his job. Im happy to make the call on CAC now.. fair enough if youre not -
So.... you think grabbing at 34 ( in a year of slimmer pickings ) may not be as goofy as it sounds. ?? I honestly think if we dont grab him...someone else will..He will NOT last through to the Rookie rounds and would be very surprised if he lasted to 50 either. We are building up a reserve of midfielder/utility types esp with Scully and likely Trengove coming aboard, I think we need someone like Daw. Many picks are a gamble at best, but there seems a hell of a lot of upside to him. We also need to still think in terms of a couple of years hence. Daw could be that type who could manage a Key forward role and happily second hit in the ruck. Doesnt matter if he doesnt bloom next year.. as long as he improves and hits his stride when we all ( as a team ) come good !! The thought of a more mature Daw, Watts and Jurrah in the front 50 ! !!!!!!!!! :D

Of those three maybe Hardwick !! Gale has very quickly proven hes not quite as clever as he thinks...and Im glad CAC is at Richmond now as his replacements here have proved far more insightful and skillful than he. Its going to take years to change..for Richmond as I think Tigers are just behind Zebras ...stripewise !! -
The incident ought to be cited and investigated. If guilty it will only prove that he is not the Mesiah, and is just a naughty boy !!

Scully and Butcher at Visy Park today
beelzebub replied to Demonic_Inferno's topic in Melbourne Demons
An element to this whole Butcher yes/no debate that may have eluded some is the type of player Melbourne seems to have been going after recently and the types its probably looking at now. These players all tend to have one thing in common and this to me has been empahasised in Bailey's recent experimentations...Versatility. We seem to be developing a team that doesnt work around the typical dynamics of even recent times but a much more fluid model that enables the FD ( game day ) to remould in the image of what suits the days play best. To be able to do this soe players need to be able to play front and back, some will be recast form KPPs to flanks and wings.. mids revolving through HF and Hb lines even popping up in pockets etc. And to me thjis is why MFC WONT pick Butcher.. hes a goal square kid !! His game is predomiinantly built around the abiltu to kick goals.. the greater abundance of his kicks are for scores. He seems to lack that other side of his game. Players like Jurrah , Watts, Bate..even dare I say it Miller can work the ball further up the ground and be imposing whilst linking. I dont beleive this is in Butchers kit. Probably too much of a one trick pony here. I have an inkling Hannibal might be on to something and we'll see Jack in purple..lucky him huh !!
