personally I hope they keep him he's such a disruptive influence at Visy :D
-
word has it he'd be fit to go in 426 !!
-
and to think some have said that trade week would be a non-event !!
-
has a rather checkered history staying on the park We dont really need any more ongoing injury types at Melbourne...do we ?
-
the 64 dollar question...does Carlton have a "get out " clause ?

Well over a coffee I just scanned a few sites. Talk and "news'/inside scoops etc on Davey are spreading faster than manure at a fed gov summit !! Seems it ranges from...he's all but signed to he's heading to Windy Hill on 4 years and the Davey Gravy train would be full to the brim !! He's news on just about every clubs boards. Some posters think it justice for our tanking..I mean experimenting and that its Robbos curse of disatisfaction with these tactics that has caused some upheaval at the club. If there was any truth then quite frankly I dont want ANY player that want to put themselves ABOVE the interests of the team. I think the MFC just have to be firstly realistic in appraisal as to where and what Davey actually is as a player and then be resolute in their dealings. This is no time to panic but an opportunity to further establish the bonefides of the club in terms of its intention to be a serious player, not a pillar to post reactionary rabble. If he stays he stays, if he goes he goes... the club is bigger and betterr than any player. Go Dees

Id be really keen to retain Davey...and even mor ekeen not to get Lovett But if Aaron goes he goes.. Am curious whats the stickler in all this. if he's after 4 then hes totally unrealistic. If he want out because of some disagreement with the direction of Melb as a club...then he will be the loser, if its just money... dont get too greedy there Flash.. and if its some ideal of playing with your brother... its time to put the fairytale book away. I really only want players who are 100% behind this club and prepared to put 110 % effort in. Thought Aaron was one.. maybe we're wrong. Time will tell. Dont buckle MFC beyond reasonable

Interesting to see that Barty is nominated amongst our players as potential trade material in this article Players nervous before draft Melb players mentioned : Clint Bartram, Brock McLean, Paul Johnson, Brad Miller Article must have been written before last week !! Nothing really surprising here but it seems many of us here are not alone in thinking Barty may be on the table.

No ones getting 4..he can/ought to get 3..the last with provisos.

Peter German/our relationship with Casey
beelzebub replied to jayceebee31's topic in Melbourne Demons
If not German then someone else will look after the Scorps. German is good...but not alone. Am sure his boots could be more than adequately filled should he choose to move on. To be frank am more concerned with the to-ings and fro-ings at Melbourne. There are a number of sufficently adequate and hungry coaches around who would salivate at the opportunity especially given teh stage of Melbournes push. edit: for the record am more than happy should he stay he has done some very good work with Casey and what he had at his disposal from MFC. I should think he too can see whats up ahead and wish to be part of it, indeed have a decent hand in some development/refinemnet of some very good raw talent. But if he goes..he goes.!! s.i.l. -
i Suppose there are a number of ways to come at this. Id break it into two. Style..and Results. Under Style I would hope that with more games in their legs and beef on frame that the team as a whole would develope greater consistency and coherence. I would expect the quality of football to lift and the demeanor of players change to reflect this. In short , tot start looking and playing liek they can...and should. As a result.. I think 7-9 wins is reasonable given we won 4 this year trying not to win. We still nearly won two others. A continued overhaul of the list and another preseason plus some serious talent now allowed to focus on the football and football only ought to provide dividends.

Peter German/our relationship with Casey
beelzebub replied to jayceebee31's topic in Melbourne Demons
It is a partnership... but its not the same as being the same entity say such as is the case in Collingwood or Geelong . In the past I suspect Melb has spent far too many resources securing Zebra premierships at some cost to its own progress, now things are different. The MFC will of course help and abet its partner the Scorps but only as far as its own resources and priorities allow. We have learnt..we are a bit more savvy. This isnt to say that its all MFC and the Casey bunch can go to hell but its up to Casey to mount its best team with what it has to hand. Ins t it ? I would prefer that the likes of those empowered into positions of coaches etc concentrate far more on developing their stock than pondering what might have been if only this or that. Yes it can be hard if undermanned..and somewhat cruelly in timing.. but thats when the better get inventive..others just moan -
Exactly on whom is it lost that Baileys role to date has not been to win ?? it has been to do a specific job, to gain specific benefits and to [position the team in a place from where it can be reasonably expected to climb forwards. He cannot as yet be judged in the normal manner as that is not the yardstick the club had set. From this moment on he will be expected to lift the team and demonstrably so. If we NOW fail to start winning games with conviction and distinction then the evaluation as a poor coach can be said to hold water, as thats then his job. You can only judge a worker by the task you set him. He ( DB ) I would have thought has equited himself remarkably well and composed in the job at hand. That job now changes...and we can then judge him on his accomplishments in THAT role. I disagree that any one could coach a team to lose as had the lads been left to their own devices in a few games they would have won !! It actually took some skill and backbone.

Well all I can say is there must be some seriously intellectually imparied folk here. Many just dont get it, if as they say a game is of two halves then the first one has been plkayed out. the game of rebuild/draft/cleanout all done whilst you wear shcackles on every extremity. The second half has started. No shackles, new talent, new resources and with free reign , indeed the perogative and goal of winning. Dean Bailey in all reality has done an amazing job to date, now he gets the chance to play for real. Surely this hasnt been lost on all... just the 'thick' some

surely he already has !!!!!!!!!!!

If he's a bottom end 17 yo then he doesnt qualify in this years draft and is elligible for GC only to snare. Gold Coast to have the capacity to sign 12 x 17 year-olds born in the January – April window (January 1 to April 30, 1992). - source AFL Gold Coast draft concessions explained ( AFL ) if hes still under age.,..no one really gets him this year.... and is up for grabs next year..however next years comproimised draft allows GC the following ( untraded ) picks in the 2010 Draft , they are : 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 in round one alone, thus the likelyhood of such a kid going to GC

Really looking forward to getting Jack back he has class this lad. A very intelligent and good user of the ball. One of those lads of whom you just feel happier when he gets the ball. Lets get these inury niggles sorted and allow him to really become the player he will be ..an absolute champ !!

firstly..not everyone reads ology !! so... all things considered dont get too upset if not all get what youre implyiing.. .. when casting 'lazy' apsersions around...think twice ( just a hint ) maybe a link..just an idea. I will preface this with no disrepsect to German or the Scorps.. but .. Melbourne is Melbourne and whilst we have and surely wish to develope further any links and future with Casey ...our playing ability and management of OUR team comes first for this club. Its up to Casey to make the best fist of what it has and also develope its own players.....surely. Maybe this will show some Scorps that opportunities can always present and to grab them with both hands. Please Peter....no sooki-la-la's -
that will suffice for me ( description ) Is another who needs to add something to his game otherwise he will be usurped. Played better this year ( latter ) needs as much if not more improvement again to be really a relevent player for a finals tilt. Not completely convinced here
-
I dunno !! Seems to be at that point where he could be..or might fall away as just another. You continually hear of.. he had to put up with this or that about players. Well all very good if its managable or improvable or it simply becomes a millstone for them and a perpetual excuse in time. He shows glimpses of a really clever player and for me at times just seems to fade. I want to get a lot more optimistic about him...I want to, just cant get there yet. I hope he does though.

Russell Robertson isnt a part of the inner sanctum of the brains trust of the MFC. His views on this are only marginally ( if that ) any more informed than ours. He's seen his future ....and its not AFL.. he feels somewhat meloncholy. Robbo doesnt nor ever has controlled the spending or contractual negotiations of the club...so with all due respect he's only this > < far from talking out his arse !!
-
careful...you might talk sense and that will be lost onmany !! pick 11 effectively now adds to some future proofing...but alas thats not a tangible you can see straight away and so it fuels the arguments of heortsighted

youre far from alone

Im not sure if id really want to have any player that would rather be at the Blues than the Dees !! ..not any of them;)

I for one am immensely impressed and comforted to know that the club is not only proactive with respect to its destiny but that we no longer see our selves as poor reactionaries. Playing off the front foot... well done chaps !!
