Cameron Schwab use as a sacrifice to keep Tom Scully
beelzebub replied to 7-UP's topic in Melbourne Demons
Im not sure as to few or many...but definitely youre not alone. Schwab >>>>>> Scully Just plain logical. -
When he plays what used to be the traditional Wingers role he can indeed turn it on.. Will this position be part of our modus operandi going forward ?? Would oppositions allow him such largesse ? It seems to me that the sticking point about a new contract is supposedly the performance based components. Whats the matter Col...not prepared to back yourself in to earn the money ? just asking

Has a well rounded flavour about it. I think , despite all the new age rubbish currently the darling of teh modernists I feel teh CLUB ought to appoint the captian etc.. Not a vote from within. Seems for the most part many players incapable of discerning real leadership let alone giving it.

touche.. Why is such clarity never available to these people when empowered to do something. ??

As to the nature of footy as opposed revering the club I see Todd's influnce for the remaininder of the season to most likely follow a simple tenet. And thats simplicity itself. Go and play straightforward footy, dont try to get too cute ( at present some skills will kill us if tried) Play what you know. the ol' KISS strategy. Look after the basics. Wear you r man, or guard your space. Deny the ball, or go after it if they have it dont let them do anything with it. Lay the tackles, make them stick. Contest teh ball and then contest teh afterplay ...and do it all again. Be tenacious. Dont put fellow team mates under the pump ...i.e dont play hot-potato !! Play with what you have unttil you can better other skills. and last but not least..... if youve left anything on the field.....dont show up monday !!

Of course he did.....just maybe the oven wasnt hot enough to actually cook anyone !!
-
Youd reckon hed know something about leadership and recognise it when he sees it.... or doesnt all in all it ( article) put much in correct perspective. The Riot act needs to be read down at the club. All aboard.......this train's not for passengers though.

I was looking forward, in a manner, to Redlegs account of the previous debacle and the ensuing aftermath. Would be very interesting. I remember the day ( like you could forget it) Hopefully if he has the time

A very good article...very good. Nails it. Just goes to reinforce what weve feared all along. The leadership at Melbourne is abysmal...Sad really. The light needs to swung arounf on the likes of Mahoney, Royal , West, Williams as well. Thered be quite a few at Melbourne I suspect feeeling damn lucky, for all the wrong reasons !!

Read it that way too. Viney is no nonsense. He would be appalled at the fawning over anyone. He's very much a case of the player proving worth to a club etc.. Yes a bit old school....but I like it. Viney would have no time for anyone, any faction etc who makes a go of stuffing the club around. Got to love that kind of attitude dont you Bet hes intsilled a different sort of attitude in his own kid as compared others

do you bother to read ?? I ws referring to the idea that anyone would offer up to this kid the ceo's head as offering...not the if , when ,maybe of Scully going. Im happy to take 2 picks for a dicky knee personally. -
Lets not get too carried away huh...lets understand by whos standards staff are too 'expensive'. Pay peanuts get monkeys etc. All companies pay people. At the moment were flavour of the months ( for attacking ) . The hyhenas and vultures smell blood and are circling. Its game on and were the game !! I dont for a minute suggest Schwabb y is without fault , who is, but lets see some facts before pilloring everyone in this club.

open the door for him will ya !!! B)

Let him go now and get something for him. Hes far from irreplacable. Melbournbe need to take the front foot on how it will shape its team in the coming years. The playing field will how changed beyond recognition. Free agency will bring opportunities for players...as well as clubs. We simply have to adopt a forward thinking positive view of this and sieze it. Many fans will struggle to adapt to the mercenary nature of the talent pool, but that will be life. Sink or Swim......

I certainly hope that this is a load of codswallop. Pandering to some kid is just attrocious if true. Better not be -
Garry Lyon says weak, cancerous types have to go
beelzebub replied to Prymke0019's topic in Melbourne Demons
I cant wait ( well to happen ) for Todd and Garry to get all our littel darlings in a room....and explain a few facts of life or facts as they will now be for those wearing Red and Blue. Ought to be a an awakening for some...and a little intimidating for others, we can only hope !!! -
For mine the notion of "untouchable" breeds a lurgy called..........complacency !! Once a player starts thinking hes a walk up start then we lose an edge. We need players fighting for places week in week out. Sure for some it might become easier ( but only through effort) but all have to know theyre employed to do a job. Start forgettting that and we'l lstart forgetting you !! simple
-
Ron , with all due respect the fact that many might agree with yo goes more to the real quality of our supposed 'older' brigade than their real input when held up against similalry placed players at the more successful clubs. Thats the worry...not that he could/would go.

Maybe Im a party pooper too. This is after all a work environment. This isnt , or rather shouldnt be kiddie time.. Id be bloody [censored] off if someone did something of that scale.. Its not harmelss..Its downright imbecilic. Does this go towards the lack of maturity that some also display out there on the ground. ?? Lets see him get BOG for the big boys !! wont hold my breath
-
seems the Andrews report is very much the Bain of Discontent within the club...or is it ? Is it just an excuse for some to have a [censored] ?
-
Mainstays of what ?? Inconsistent ans spasmodic performaces ?? Part of the fabric ? ? What...a worn out horseblanket ?? This is not the echelon to which we need to aspire. If he should suddenly start to put say 3 good qtrs together week after week then we'll revisit this idea of him being "absolutely required" I wonder if he was part of the failed Mutinous party ?? hmm
-
LOl...sad but true. Theres a trend for many to worry more about retirement than actual participation !!
-
I wonder if some might stop for a moment to think that its being able to do this very job which might give him some sustenance for the soul. Its a focus, almost a distraction possibily at times from his obvious health issues. And he's looks more than a tad crook atm. There may wel lbe a symbiosis of sorts occuring between Jim and his role. Happy for him to remaiin if he wishes to. But look after yourself mate !! For you and your family
-
Only want those that want to play for Melbourne, only those that want to play all the minutes of all 4 qtrs of each and every game. Im fine if he doesnt . Get someone else. Tmk.. Sylvia has never made it to the top 3 of the Bluey. If he goes , he goes. Time for a real good look at the list again this year.

Bobby . It must be marvellous to be able to draw upon those memories. I cant. I waited til 1988 to even go to a Grand Final as I set myself that I wouldnt attend til we were in one. That was a day to forget..and after half time its just an amber blur. Then 2000 and didnt we do well again. In both games we failed to even register the opponents half time score !!! Someone else hit the nail. Too much living in the past. Too much all in the fullness of time. Theres no urgency.
