October's early this year
-
The thing many need to keep in mind is that Malthouse and his management will offically exnay any idea. They have to for th emoment. Micks job is to coach Collingwood. Thats his priority and focus. On the quiet he might be open to be sounded out but he cant be seen to be doing so, and rightly so . reverse positions. If we were teh filth wed want the coach to be doing his job and worrying about his club and job...not the next one. I dont see Eade as any answer to Melbourne. Rocket gets them up a bit but never over the line. Why would we bother. Clarko aint going nowhere I think..

change?? This group for the most part is of his own making. What was to change...it was there to mould !!
-
"Too many of that group have underperformed or taken an eternity to develop under Bailey. Of the supposedly elite tier, Colin Sylvia has never finished top-three in the best-and-fairest, Moloney's year has been feast or famine, and Aaron Davey is living on past glories" Like it or not, this is the legacy as it exists of the Bailey tenure. With any luck a new broom might just whack a few on the backside

this ^ not to take anything away form tehrest of the post but this resonated the most, to me. This club is literally upside down at times. The Younger, clearer of focus minds are the ones with the eye on the ball. The older ones seem far too preoccupied with their 'selves" ...their matey matey-ness. The kids want to play footy, good hard at it footy. Their bodies scupper them at times but the wil lis their. The older bigger players want to play politics. When did that come into their briefs ? Ive often had time for Caro but shes just being plain mischievious at present. Theres still the odour of rotting fish

Could all make for an interesting AGM this year . Only needs to be one question: Wtf is really going on ?
-
How ridiculous. How many times does the man need to repeat himself !!! He DOESN'T want to coach !!!!! Sheesh
-
I think the real chasm that exists between ideologies is you have a CEO that wants to ( and realises to exist you need to ) drag his club screaming anf fighting into the 21st Century whilst a 'tradition" and a malaise , that passes itself of asa football team sticks rigidly to the ways of the 20th Century. Some folk want things to happen today, some players seem in a rut of considering tomorrow and if were not careful we'll all be yesrterday !!
-
Not that Micky is necessarily the answer but the nature of the beast ought to be to go about things to the best advantage of OUR club and Eddie can get get knotted !! Its the ruthless nature of going after what WE need that is indicative of whether we can really determine our destiny. To only do what others 'allow' you to do in this case would be soft. The filth dont think this way, nor ought we. Bring it on Macguire !!

His job is to facilitate a club to be the best it can. His view is to run it by best practice ideals etc. Seems that upsets the cosiness of some, then Im all for it. Some seem to want to caost along in their warm and fuzzy little worlds where mediocrity is the eternal flavour of the day. Well diddums to them. Heres a difference in basic attitude. We often see a Melbourne team take the field and play with no sense of urgency, no sense of carpe diem. Maybe Scwabby doesnt care for a club whos FD dept lives in a constant bubble of development. May be his vision is of actually gettting somewhere and if so Im with him.

Gloom Reinstatement fact That was over 50 years ago...more than 2 generations. The game has changed almost beyond recognition. Half as many teams again.. A national comp.. We just had a Sat afternoon with NO game in Melbourne. !! NONE !! Bobby, our heritage is wonderful but it gives me no real satisfaction to be the doormats . I dont want to live of a diet of memories and then in many instances none that are mine. I started barracking for Melbourne in 1965 when I first attended school here. Had no idea wed just got the cup. Like many Demons ive had a journey colured more with bitter disappointment and abject embarrasment than teh joys of success. Ive watched teams like Hawthorn grow to poweers , Watched the Cats bully us, put up with cocky BlueBaggers., watched in disbeleif as Victorian teams were almost irrelevant for a decade. so if you dont mind..other than in history's page accomplishments of a very distant MFC mean all but zip to me today. Im surrounded in my family by Collingwood supporters who take much delight in sympathising with my plight. They cant even belittle me as you might towards a worthy opponent, instead they feel "SORRY" for me. They say if you cant learn from history youre doomed to repeat your failures. We were a no nonsense outfit back then. Others looked upon us with envy.... not the ridicule of today. I know you meant wel lwith this thread Bobby...but im over it

This is indeed a worrying aspect. Here we have a bunch of wannabe power brokers who ought to concentrate on something they are supposedly good at. Insttead they start poking their noses into areas thaey arent charged to concern themselves with. They seem to want to mould the course of the club where as they are there to do the playing side of things, not the design. I mean, how dare anyone aspire to build a 'premiership' model of a sporting outfit.. Some of these players need a swift kick in myopinion. Its acknowledged that the Jnr thing might have beenhandled better bit not the actual outcome. He was to be moved on.Time was up. Ifthe littel darlings cant handle that, thathteir tenure is a limnited thing, they they are all essentially a transient commodity then maybe they ought to get out of the game and find a Jim franchise.. Im sick of this sort of attitude. Memo to Players..stick to your job...Play footy

we've stumbled..we'll crashand bang a bit but find our feet before seasons end in time to get sorted for next season. ...And a whole off season of speculation !!!!

Brett Clothier obliged to investigate Melbourne's 'tanking'
beelzebub replied to Eth's topic in Melbourne Demons
Barrett and Smith are muck rakers. Hutchy's sweeps up afterwards. -
Thomas's comments werent far from the money at all. Often people just get it into their heads to dismiss this bloke ro that without listening. Im not at all sold on the Pagaon notion ..but Pagans and Demons.....lol I think what Grant was onto is dead right. You need a straight shooter to grab the reins on the Football side of things and drag it screaming if necessary into a different way of thinking and acting. I think we dont have enough blue collar mongrel....too much white collar niceties at times.

I cant see Lyon ever as a Dees coach. For the simple reason he doesnt want to do it. Fair enough. Some possibly see him as the heir apparent to Jims seat. Maybe . Sometimes however some folk are able to do more without the contraisnts of officialdom. Often things are discussed in those darkened studies or back of restaurants. All 'unofficial" but with real overtones. Maybe Lyons best role is lurking ?

The thing of all this also is, should anyone point the bone at us, then we need to point it back at all otherr clubs of the modern era who've benifited via 'developing' priorities, winning not necessarily being number one. i.e let be club without sin cast the first brick. we'll be waiting a long while !!!!!!!!! -
Adem Yze - Tanking twitter comment - not confirmed his twitter.
beelzebub replied to PeterJames's topic in Melbourne Demons
Adem's proximity to effort often mirrored the timelines of contracts.!!~ Yes OOze..some of us remember -
I must confess i often give it a miss as it all seems so predictable and self serving...but as teh topic of the day is Melbourne Melbourne ...or ....Melbourne...Given Garry's pre eminance , given Cxaros supposed slip ups..that and Itchy will want to niggle caro...and they'll ask Thomo inane quesations it really is a must view...roflmao
-
And hopefully more than a couple of books ..In that way we might be able to craft together some semblance of the truth
-
That was something mentioned to me. With some theres a bit of a manyana view with some.. Not so much teh yeah yeah tomorrow ...but more..hey Rome wasnt built in a day.. with some relying a little too much on that idea. Some folk like to get on with things today...now.. Theres always going to be a rucking of heads ..lol
-
Ive only heard this via the grapevine ..etc etc.. but some of the angst might come from Cam's very high expcetations of what this club is and can be. Ive heard it niggles when he doesnt sense the same urgency or aspirations ( read timelines) in other depts. Again this might go to some having too cosey a ride in some respects. Some elements of the club suggest we need to get on with things quicker than some seem dto be doing so.. All a bit thrid hand though.. Heard from more than one ...make what you will

Bet im not the only one that serously questions that. Not in terms of what he ought to be, but in light of how hes actually played. He ought to be thoroughly ashamed of his antics and performance this weeken. How anyone could find anything to laugh about escapes me. He ought to have voluntarily stood himself down. . There are just a few too many moments of smugness creeping back into his persona hailing back to his Sandy days for my thinking. He does a lot of great footy things and very few captain things.
