Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
whatwhat say what replied to adonski's topic in Melbourne Demons
that goal against the pear was a stunner i fully expect he'll be able to rotate thru centre square attendances as he gets stronger - he appears to be an excellent reader of the play and instinctively knows where to move in contested situations to win the loose ball that burst speed around stoppages is very reminiscent of judd in his meth coke days -
i guess - no different to greg swann or brian cook or benny gale or craig vozzo etc pert had 10 years at the filth for a decade after being the ceo of austereo and then in a senior exec position at channel 9 under his tenure they rose, won a premiership, fell again - but were one of the two or three most powerful and successful off-field sides in the competition he's been with us since 2018, and seen us rise, win a premiership, and dipped badly in 2024 - we're yet to see if it's a blip or a long term fall - and has overseen record memberships and a genuine drive for two home bases at casey and now caulfield do i think he's a particularly awesome ceo? not really do i think he's a particlarly awful ceo? not really

fwiw trevor nisbett is widely regarded as one of the best ceo's the competition has ever had has been ceo at meth coke since 1999; he's finishing up there this year - he started at the club in 1989

yeah i heard about the brownlow bit a day ago, and obviously it's now out in the ether... he was partying hard with a fellow party boy from another party-happy club final straw apparently

Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread
whatwhat say what replied to Demons11's topic in Melbourne Demons
tell that to the peptides' supporters who remember pj as their ceo and you get a different story... his role at the mfc was very, very different to that at the efc of course, just as pert's role as ceo is very different to pj's time as our ceo -
Pert and Roffey - The Review Thread
whatwhat say what replied to Demons11's topic in Melbourne Demons
posted this yesterday on the oliver thread; true here too people criticising pert for being a ceo involved in the football dept - that's literally a football club ceo's biggest portfolio that's why you get people like pert, kelly, hocking, gale etc. in there; they've got 30 plus years of footballing business understanding and experience you actually DO want them having the direct conversations around pushing your second highest paid staff member out of the club there's a reason why oliver was meeting hocking and not scott down at the cattery The amount of effort it required to keep players like him in line, and yet always provide a bail out option, is enormous there’s a line where it becomes a whole-club distraction and other staff members - players, off field, etc. - begin to get a bit over it -
how his face will actually look...
-
Ah, but which club

Classique Maclure: Headline: he’s going… Body copy: …maybe?
-
So yr saying O Mac WAS a star? alongside Frost absolutely lynchpin of our 2018 finals run!
-
since always they're football ceos not business ceos
-
he's a good player, but no star about on a par with oscar mcdonald
-
seems pretty clear we've told him to assess his options; whether that means he leaves or not is a different matter i find it interesting that his first port of call is a club that kicked the tyres this time last year - the difference being that this time the puddy tatts don't have anything close to what i would expect oliver would be worth to us in a trade scenario i don't understand criticising pert for being a ceo involved in the football dept - that's literally a football club ceo's biggest portfolio that's why you get people like pert, kelly, hocking, gale etc. in there; they've got 30 plus years of footballing business understanding and experience you actually DO want them having the direct conversations around pushing your second highest paid staff member out of the club - to do so would, i assume, be something that would be ratified by the board the amount of effort it required to keep players like oliver in line, and yet always provide a bail out option, is enormous - there’s a line where it becomes a whole-club distraction and other staff members - players, off field, etc. - begin to get a bit over it there's a reason why oliver was meeting hocking down at the cattery - bringing in a player with his pay packet and rumoured off field behaviour is a senior exec decision that would be taken to the board for approval as he'd be one of the highest paid players no matter where he goes

better to look at unrestricted vs restricted i think footywire has a list, but i'm unsure of the accuracy of it of those who are unrestricted, the list coming up who likely are not in the last years of their careers are few and far between... jacob weitering brayden maynard brayden fiorini toby pink marcus bontempelli the first and the last listed are unlikely to leave their teams where they are key players and leaders of the club this place would blow up worse than the trac and oliver trade threads combined if we recruited maynard, i'd imagine
-
three journos saying three very different things in two publications so why believe any of em

daniel is also rumoured to be owed more than a $1.5m over the next two seasons under a heavily back-ended contract owies is likely to be on average wage, so probably close to $350k a year bedford doesn't play as a half-forward any more really - he's a midfield tagger first and foremost; he certainly doesn't impact the scoreboard anything like as much as he used to do when he was more of a half-forward he was also in / out of the gw$ side before 'settling' into this position at which he has excelled
-
add also, in the last decade or so: crom, bears, filth, peptides... every club goes through various issues with player attention / attraction
-
clark hasn't shown much at this stage i'll take sdk and future 1st and 2nd, which we then on trade to get higher up in to this year's first round i'm personally not too concerned if oliver stays or goes at this point it would be very sad, but clearly something needs to change in our playing ranks
-
same happened for gunston at the crom, where he was the best young player winner or some such, and had the reward bestowed upon him withdrawn when he went to dingley
-
sort of but not really the soul of the club is the supporters, not the players
