  1. they're the richest team in the competition in a two-team town where there is little other comparative distractions
  2. clearly they were beyond thrilled that xavier 'nephew' taylor fell through to our selection while latrelle pickett was always going to be selected by us the wraps on matthews are strong; exciting to hear
  3. picket fence, is this you?
  4. smart consultant appointment
  5. always need to take ninefax reporting on broadcast rights with some degree of sceptism - the age is owned by ninefax who are currently in battle with dazn for the nrl rights going forward... also, worth mentioning in here that afl media are set to make significant cuts to their broadcast backend set-up... AFL cuts media jobs and closes main studio in pivot to outsourcing Major job cuts have hit the AFL’s media department as the league abandons some in-house production in favour of content creators and outsourcing. he AFL has cut a number of jobs from its media arm and closed its main studio as it pivots to outsourcing to content creators. An email sent to staff in the AFL’s media team on Wednesday made clear the league would decommission ‘Studio A’ at AFL House in Docklands, leading to redundancies among the production team. Multiple sources told this masthead the most recent redundancies numbered at least 10 and several other staffers had left the media and commercial team since the men’s grand final in September, but the AFL would not confirm a number. 6. i definitely consider koz more of a wa boy than an sa one
  7. dazn already holds the afl rights globally, and try to monetise it through the 'watch afl' portal that foxtel has control over, and telstra had before that, but the subscription base was always tiny we're a small domestic sport and as such there is miminal interest in the sport at a global level to increase its exposure would cost the afl a fortune, but the afl does not like spending money it should have been a targeted appproach 30-40 years ago
  8. ol mate scoops manure is saying what everyone was pretty much expecting blavatnik to be saying - afl rights are massively overvalued and he'd like to tighten them up https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/foxtel-s-afl-deal-cost-billions-now-its-owner-wants-to-pay-less-and-it-has-form-20251125-p5nieg.html take it with some grain of salt of course - the age is owned by ninefax who are currently in battle with dazn for the nrl rights going forward...
  9. zanker leaving changes the balance of our f50 enormously
  10. my favourite album of the year is definitely rosalia's "lux" she's otherworldly; like a catalan bjork her previous album was really poppy and super 'bouncy' for want of a better term; it was my aoty of the year for 2022 this new one saw her work with the lso for a year in order to craft a symphonic set honouring female saints it's...amazing here's the single: it gives absolutely no clue as to how the album was going to sound
  11. been a terrific coach at the dees; wonder where he's headed https://www.afl.com.au/aflw/news/1456247/end-of-an-era-as-premiership-coach-mick-stinear-departs-melbourne-demons
  12. access to dougie cochrane seems like a free kick to the pear, given in the full knowledge that any trade / compo picks they get for butters at the end of 2026 will be sucked by by the points required to match a very early bid on cochrane
  13. i'll take it as others have said, it ain't the taj mahal - office buildings / fancy gym combo
  14. to be training there in 2028 - as in the ovals will be ready by then? seems awfully quick to get the buildings built
  15. he looked competent, not sensational no different to woey 2.0, pup brown, laurie, etc.
  16. Between me opening the garage door and getting the screen on they kicked two goals - my fault for getting home from dance performances
  17. do you mean you WOULDN'T be surprised? i expect he'll have some 'train on' experiences with the mfc given that he's in our academy
  18. or, alternatively, his under 18s season is so good that we're looking for ways to manipulate the draft as we're premiers, gc17 finish wherever they finish, and we're accumulating enough points to match the expected top 5 bid on prasad
  19. his name definitely suits our side
  20. That’s the point kuz and koz!
  21. looks like a great reader of the ball in the air and a smart user by hand and foot give him 4 years and a gym program
  22. tall forwards are just decoys to bring the ball to ground in modern footy
  23. that is never, ever going to happen
  24. that's a great question i imagine the afl would have nfi and greet the q with a blank stare before taking it to a committee that needs to gather a quorom to raise a working group to explore the opportunity to answer the question keep on kicking that can down the road...
