The Jack Watts in 2018 Thread
jack had a day out on media street a few weeks ago about how normally at that time of year he was planning what he'd do on his holidays in september and he was looking forward to finally tasting finals footy in 2018 yeah...but nah... i still can't fathom that a player of his undoubted skill has been dropped by every senior coach he has had throughout ten years in the system; it's an absolute indictment on him as a player so happy to have fritsch!

Farewell Jesse Hogan
no to trading, no to playing him in the backline he's the best forward we've had in twenty years

Losing Jack Viney
if he comes back, based on the 22 that played yesterday and our current rate of injury returnees, i'd think it'd be spargo that he replaces i'm intrigued by the notion of him getting a run for casey during the bye week there's no reason we should even require special dispensation for that as both teams seasons are ongoing so he should be allowed to suit up, i think?

Petracca in a rut?
his ability to keep his feet in and around the contest is superb the thing i want to see him do more is not 'pop' his kicks up more - he gets too close to the man on the mark and skies them every time
-
What they're saying over at Roberts Road
Maggots gonna maggot...but at least it felt like a finals like maggot performance where they swallowed thier whistle and paid only the obvious ones, the atrocious AVB decision aside

Petracca in a rut?
That kick to Melksham at the end of the game was glorious

Changes v GWS Giants
No change this week, unforeseen injury or suspensions pending

Sam Weideman
As if we’re going to let either of them go other than for massive overs Frost would be depth at most finals-bound clubs and for the moment has guaranteed himself, injury-permitting, in finals football in 2018 Weed is a young developing key forward who has played bugger all football as a junior and there’s no way we’ll let him go He was fantastic today, really attacking the ball and kicking it beautifully He was cooked by midway through the third term but buttered up at the contest time and time again Saw three of his junior games and still think he’ll be the pick of the key forwards of his draft year...Curnow or no Curnow Kid has what it takes to be a serious, serious footballer

Wallace Calls Out Goody
wallace is an idiot but unfortunately he's right that it's on the coach as the pattern has been continuing for three years goodwin can't stop our players choking when the opportunity presents itself, but the fact that it has been happening for three years is the biggest concern i'm not the coach's biggest fan, but the fact remains that we have regularly won contested ball, i50s, shots on, and so on and so forth - in terms of the basic metrics of modern football we seem to be doing the right thing, as goodwin says - he says 17 times out of 20 we've been within a kick when the siren blows; it's actually only 15 - so it shows that in some respects his message of how to do the basics to be in games is working but at the same time we've given up runs of easy goals for the oppo and our players have then definitely fought tooth and nail to get in the position to win games - or been in front, a la geelong when the siren blows - but the common feature in all our losses is a run-on of goals from the oppo that we can't stop and then a panic within the playing ranks and an inability to stem the flow vs geelong in rd 1, where we had the opportunity to win what i thought was a pretty closely fought game and fluffed it vs hawthorn in rd 4, where it looks like the team gave up - worst loss for the year for mine for that reason alone vs richmond in rd 5, where i thought we gave our all and then dishearteningly got stream-rolled by the reigning premier in the last vs pies in rd 12, where we didn't give a whimper and allowed them to completely control play from the square to their forward line vs port in rd 14, where we absolutely dominated but could not score in a pretty poorly-skilled, poorly-maggoted match-up vs saints in rd 15, where we played appalling football after the first 15 minutes until the last 15 minutes of the game and lost by 2 vs geelong in rd 18, where we absolutely, categorically 100% choked under the pressure under lights at kardinia park vs sydney in rd 21, where again when the pressure was on to perform, the players choked and failed to execute the finishing skills it's exactly what affected us the last two seasons and now we're at the end of the third and the common trait of run-on then panic hasn't changed the perceived wisdom is that goodwin was effectively coaching in roos' final year, which means we're now ending the third year of his tenure and we've shown that we can play but that we lack mental strength and tactical ability to adjust under pressure - and it's cost us every year people forget the appalling display against carlton and then disintegration against geelong the week after in 2016 - that was nearly as bad as last year to be honest, missing this year is expected based upon previous performances goodwin will be under HUGE pressure in 2019

Andrew Gaff
it would go nowhere near getting it done - it would be daylight robbery for us if he's leaving meth coke, it's as a free agent, not in a trade
-
Andrew Gaff
Seeing as Gaff has been clear he's not meeting with any clubs whilst in Melbourne, there's no way he met with Woosha in the last fortnight The link to the Peptides does make some sense nevertheless, given the pharmacist connection

Dan Hanneberry
no one is, benjamin button aside
-
Dan Hanneberry
it won't happen - i still think he'll stay at sydney why on earth would you leave such a successful club?

Dan Hanneberry
lloyd is reportedly in gc17's sights - big money deal in the offing
-
Dan Hanneberry
since he's been in business we've won four premierships!

Dan Hanneberry
until such a time as this thread title spells his name correctly, i say it's unlikely we're bringing in some mysterious bloke named 'hannaberry' on mega-coin

Farewell Jesse Hogan
i just can't fathom trading a 23 year old key forward who should be about to enter the prime of his career he's got better every full season that he's played he is clearly a confidence player who needs to work very hard and his mental calmness on field to settle down, take the set shot in a familiar way, and then not get increasingly flustered and clearly apprehensive ABOUT kicking for goal despite seemingly buggering his ankle in the second quarter so far he has had: shoulder injury against the dogs hip flexor impact injury against the cats sickness before match against the crows, a game in which he was clearly hampered despite all this he still got: 19 possessions 4 marks 1 tackle 1 goal 3 before the emergence of plugger mac, he's clearly been the best forward we've had since neitz the notion of trading him seems utterly absurd to me

Andrew Gaff
with multiple clubs now also interested in similarly restricted free agent lycett, it'll be interesting to see meth coke's approach and priorities

Andrew Gaff
He’s worth it And I want him
