JLT Round 4, Thursday 9th March - West Coast at Subiaco

smith missing too. we're running light-on for small forwards; guess bugg's the likely candidate to provide defensive i50 pressure? -

so hibberd, jkh and vdb are definite outs, and you'd think viney might miss out too if his hand injury is any concern at all. B: Jetta - T McDonald - Smith HB: Hunt - O McDonald - Melksham C: Salem - Jones - Vince HF: Petracca - Hogan - Brayshaw F: Watts - Weideman - Kent Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Lewis I/c: Tyson - Stretch - Neal-Bullen - Bugg - Spencer - Harmes would be nice to see what trengove has to offer, and i can't understand how frost has dropped out of all considerations (or so it would seem) -
carlton has also made a habit of not recruiting true mids; they've got a plethora of smaller, zippy half-forwards, but no one in the guts other than cripps is under the age of 27.

Melbourne 2017 ladder prediction
whatwhat say what replied to Delusional demon 82's topic in Melbourne Demons
8-15 wins, somewhere btw 5-15 on the ladder. i think we're heading for another up-and-down season in what should be a super-even year for a host of teams who might make finals depending upon injuries and form. -
Training - Friday 3rd March, 2017
whatwhat say what replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
needs a big preseason and to add 10kg of muscle before he can move into the midfield. way too light a frame for the modern game. -
terrible luck for jkh.
-
Bad luck for both players, and it definitely changes my expected thoughts re round 1 unless VDB in particular can get fit; I really thought he was part of the expected side vs the Saints.
-
so you have doubts about him too, i take it clint? i want him to be great...but i have my doubts...
-
I'm a doubter... Good player but until he can hit a short kick target under 30m he'll never be a great. The amount of times he over / under kicks short passes for a player who is clearly so skilled is infuriating. Eliminate those basic mistakes and he'll become a great as he knows where to run and how to get it.

where's the 'don't care, as long as we win' option? -
Best 22 for Round 1, 2017
whatwhat say what replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
part of what's lost us the game the last two years is that hickey has been the 'winner' over gawn. why not try to play it differently and go with the two rucks? very hard to see jetta, frost, watts, tyson or kent forcing their way into the side at the moment - i would think the last two are the more likely options. and when you consider garlett is going to be up against it to get back as well, that's six of what i would've thought at the end of the last year's trade / draft period as being part of our 'best 22' who won't necessarily be there, and really only three due to injuries. -
JLT Round 2 vs. Carlton at Casey Fields
whatwhat say what replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
i know, it's freakish - he always destroys us. but given that he plays that wing role these days i expect us to just go head-to-head with him as there's no real run-with option - vince might be a possibility, but he's not got the aerial strength. i think brayshaw could run with and compete in the air, but i prefer him around the ball that playing a purely outside role. i think we'll use our jones-lewis-vince rotation on "his side of the ground" and just try and hurt him the other way so that he's forced to change his role rather than us change one of ours. his ability to drift forward will be the biggest threat. -
JLT Round 2 vs. Carlton at Casey Fields
whatwhat say what replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
but who goes to him? we don't really have a genuine tagger these days, and because of the outside nature of riewoldt's game it needs to someone who can run all day, compete in the air, and tackle strongly. there's no real option other than to run head to head against him. i think we'll continue using the zone defence. -
is this a long-term injury that means we want smith on our senior list for round 1 sort of lti?

no preseason games have been on channel 7 since they did away with the concept of a 'grand final'. all subscriber games (be they foxtel or afl live pass).
-
Riewoldt, Stevens and others all rested I think Hard to care about it, especially when the cricket is a nightmare that's tough to look away from!

Saints are slick and quick.

really should've been announced at 4.20

Hibberd and Johnstone are definite in, Garlett and Wagner are definite outs. -
Or maybe he just needs to pull it out?
