  1. Oh, completely forgot about Garlett. IN: Garlett, Brayshaw, ANB OUT: vandenBurg, Harmes, Bugg
  2. 6 - vince 5 - viney 4 - gawn 3 - lamumba 2 - oliver 1 - kent
  3. N: brayshaw, anb OUT: vandenberg, bugg maybe at a push harmes could be out for petracca and frost for pedo too, but i really can't see them making four changes
  4. The positive is that whilst we are 'insignificant' at least we are not 'anonymous'. Journos want to write about us as we are a 'story'. Compare it to north at the moment as a top four incumbent or Bulldogs before this current revival and honeymoon period - totally anonymous. I would rather be pitied and ridiculed than ignored.
  5. last year, statistically, they were right up for de%. that's what happens when you have about three or four blokes who kick it upwards of 20 times a game go sideways by 15-20m to direct targets - improves the overall percentage. that they're trying to re-tool troy chaplin into a third tall forward says a lot about where they're at at the moment.
  6. brilliant player. but he was a thug who went down like a sack of spuds when confronted with a strong wind.
  7. i don't like the bloke as a footballer (velvet sledgehammer is just about the greatest nickname in afl history, imo), but unfortunately he doesn't get a lot wrong in this column. Bashing the Melbourne Football Club is not the aim of this column - they have received more than their fair share of criticism over many years - but how to deal with a culture of a club that defies the best attempts to turn it around. How they can possibly drag themselves out of the mire which they continually find themselves in, year after year? 8. completely agree. before the coup with roos, he was the guy i was most keen to pick up as a senior coach.
  9. encouraging sounds - that is the way you treat an understrength side. very interested in the comments about anb being a pure midfielder; yet to get a shot at that role for melbourne. the sooner petracca is in the seniors, the better, based on these reports. no doubt if the sub role still existed he'd be debuting sooner rather than later.
  10. At the moment the only thing holding back $cully from being an elite mid is that he genuinely can't kick.
  11. Richmond and Collingwood have looked as awful in the first three weeks of the season as we have in Q2, Q3 vs GWS and the entire game last week. Saints are good to watch - contest hard and run hard to spread, hit targets by hand and foot.
  12. i go so angry about our performance last week i turned off part way through the first quarter. i saw little bits here and there after that, and saw toumpas get the ball a couple of times - a few little handballs in close that put his teammates under pressure, and some errant kicks. personally, i think of the swap as effectively 'kennedy for toumpas' and i'm okay with that. i hope he does okay, just not as well as kennedy!
  13. roos and misson should not be let near a video and a microphone ever again.
  14. They nailed 2012. If Boyd does become a serious player for them they will have ended up doing well in 2013. We desperately need a draft year that is a game-changer for us. All the good sides probably have two to three that they seem to knock it out of the park with. Our development has been so awful for so long we just need to hope that you are right and we are on that sort of trajectory.
  15. if people named their sources, then they wouldn't be sources any more. i've not heard anything like that, but i've watched us for a long time and the biggest issue still comes down to skills - our are deplorable, and have been for as long as i can remember. even when we were up and about under daniher we were very reliant upon the likes of johnstone and yze as they could actually hit targets. so many of our players simply can't do it by foot. when we're also horrible on transition from attack to defence and vice-versa, we're already putting ourselves on the backfoot. we don't play risky football because we can't - we can't execute it. we play a congested game of football but unfortunately we're not all that great at it either. i don't know where we're at at the moment, as it's far too early in the season to tell. i think we'll get an idea after the tigers game, but i'm pretty worried that we're going nowhere fast - i expect north to smash us, but we should be around the pies and the tigers, who've also looks deplorable so far this year. if we're a long way off both those sides in the coming weeks, then we're in big, big trouble.
  16. anb also hit the scoreboard in 2015 when stationed forward. three goals vs geelong in that win down there, 2 in a loss to meth coke, and a single against north.
  17. No ANB? Roos made a special mention in the interview re rewarding form at Casey. What a joke.
  18. wagner in = end of grimes career in the red and the blue? did not see that coming at all. for what it's worth, i think north are very, very good and we will get belted this weekend.
  19. Lachie Neale has just put off contract talks too for what it's worth.
  20. So if Giants beat Cats and Cats beat Hawks and Dees beat Giants and Bombers beat Dees...Essendon for premiers?
  21. Agree 100%. Our club is just a disaster zone of ineptitude.
  22. No one who is talented and serious about success would entertain coming to Melbourne. We remain as much of a joke as we were pre-Roos. Prestia is more likely to go to Essendon than he is to come to Melbourne.
  23. I would do: Out: Garland, Lumumba, Kent, Bugg In: Dunn, Frost, Stretch, ANB Harmes super lucky to survive the chop; I actually think he'll go and H will survive cos he's Roos' golden ticket holder. B: Jetta - Dunn - Frost HB: Salem - T McDonald - Lumumba C: Tyson - N Jones - Neal-Bullen HF: Watts - Pedersen - Kennedy F: vandenBurg - Hogan - Garlett Foll: Gawn - Vince - Viney I/c: Brayshaw - Oliver - Stretch - M Jones To be quite frank we're shuffling deckchairs - North will slaughter us next week.
