  1. Not quite... One is playing afl and earning in excess of $1m a year, the other is battling away in the sanfl trying to get back into an afl side on less than half the other...

This sort of offer to me screams that they know McGovern is leaving
  3. Think Port will be too strong at home If it was at the G I’d tip us
  4. so he's saying we're a chance?
  5. they have dom tyson going to virtually every club!
  6. whatwhat say what replied to rjay's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
sure does gawn - oliver - viney - jones - brayshaw - harmes - tyson (possibly) - vince as a tagger on ebert or wines (maybe) - fritsch on the outside - hogan, t mac, anb, melksham, hannan rotating up to the contest ryder - wines - ebert - powell-pepper - wingard - rockliff - polec on the outside - robbie gray, westhoff, boak, motlop rotating up to the contest

dixon, marshall, westhoff, ryder, r gray, wingard, s gray, motlop, rockliff and boak generally make up their forward structure, with generally a 5 man forward line at any given time as they play a structure not too dissimilar to us (also, given the quality and intensity of those players that rotate through forward line for them, it's hardly a surprise that watts is out at the moment) i'm more interested in who they'll match up on t mac, hogan, melksham, etc. as we should - theoretically - have an advantage in our forward line as their backline is quite inexperienced, with jonas likely to miss again with a hamstring, hartlett out for the year, and pittard and hombsh the only relatively experienced players out there, despite some talented kids in howard, darcy byrne-jones and dan houston in particular it should be a cracking game
  8. If, as expected, Carlton slide their way into another top pick, will they really pick another tall forward - be it Lukosious or King - given their dearth of midfielders? They desperately need top class support for Cripps
  9. whatwhat say what replied to McQueen's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
stretch is not in the same class as gaff he has a lot of development left in him, but i still doubt whether he'll approach being at gaff's level of output gotta get gaff
  10. it's three off as a minimum, yeah? currently out of contract at the end of 2018: Name Years Service Status Aaron Vandenberg 4 Non-Free Agent Angus Brayshaw 4 Non-Free Agent Bernie Vince 5 Non-Free Agent Cameron Pedersen 6 Non-Free Agent Dean Kent 6 Non-Free Agent Declan Keilty 2 Non-Free Agent Dion Johnstone 2 Non-Free Agent Harley Balic 1 Non-Free Agent James Harmes 5 Non-Free Agent Jay Kennedy-Harris 5 Non-Free Agent Joshua Wagner 3 Non-Free Agent Lachlan Filipovic 2 Non-Free Agent Mitch King 3 Non-Free Agent Neville Jetta 10 Unrestricted Free Agent Oscar McDonald 4 Non-Free Agent Patrick McKenna 2 Non-Free Agent Tim Smith 2 Non-Free Agent Tomas Bugg 3 Non-Free Agent i would personally like to keep all of avb (rose-coloured glasses from memories of his few really strong games, in reality his body doesn't look capable of coping with the physical demands of afl football), brayshaw, harmes, filipovic, jetta, o mac, tim smith of that list as a bare minimum that leaves vince as a potential retirement, pedo the same, kent as trade bait, keilty as a potential re-rookie, dj and balic who knows, jkh as a delist, wagner as a delist, king as a downgrade to rookie, mckenna as a delist, and bugg as a potential delist then you'd expect we'd get enquiries about some contracted players - the obvious examples are tyson and kent i would have my top five priority of free agents as being: andrew gaff rory sloane cameron guthrie harbrow and wallis or dahlhaus would be next...in the presumption that we're not a surprise dark horse candidate for tom lynch from gc17 it would seem that we are keen on ed langdon either this year or end of next, and who knows what other player will suddenly "demand" a trade it'll be interesting to see who is out of favour and suits our needs of a ball mover

gaff will likely be an all-australian this year meth coke will keep him i reckon, but lose the gov instead
  12. carlton vs st. kilda on a friday night in a few weeks should be riveting viewing
  13. i'm so bored of this 'watts was a sacrificial lamb to marketing' narrative i'm almost certain - and, please, someone with access to stats correct me if i'm wrong - he was doing very, very well in the vfl in the weeks leading up to qb 2009, including a bag of goals the week before everyone remembers him being gang-tackled in the opening moments on field but no one remembers the pirouette away from a tackler minutes later and the drill kick down field he has / had all the skill in the world...just none of the application

    wow...that's a fantastic appointment
  16. Also interesting to note that his manager Ben Niall is back from overseas holidays and suddenly all his clients have news stories
  17. Considering that the last - and only - time he played more than about 15 games across a season was 2016, he’s not much value to any club if he can’t get on and stay on the park When he’s fit, he’s best 22, but he’s fit so intermittently it’s a moot point Would have little value in a trade scenario for this reason
  18. can't wait to listen tomorrow on the commute keep up the great work
  19. i feel sorry for him his best years, by far, were under roos - and even then he got dropped to the vfl he has the "distinction" of being dropped by every senior coach he's had now all the talent in the world, but none of the desire required
  20. What do you rate our performance out of 10 to this point? Why? 7, we are 8-4 after 12, could be 9-3 save for an errant Nax set shot, and that six straight run was glorious Which player has impressed you the most? Bailey Fritsch: he’s come from a mature age second round pick playing as a third tall to having a wing position as his own Which draftee has made the biggest impact? Fritsch, without any competition. What has been our best win to date? Adelaide by 91: both teams were under pressure to perform and we stepped up Which player(s) needs to improve in the second half of the year? Garlett , Tyson, and any other ostensible best 22 player currently playing in the vfl What has been our most disappointing performance? Hawthorn: we gave up Where do you see us finishing? Give a win/loss and finishing position We should beat St Kilda, Fremantle, the Dogs and GC17, but I don’t know if we can win many more than that...I’m going for 12-8 and finishing 9th

can we just remember that two games ago trac picked up 22 possessions and kicked three goals straight yep, he wasn't good yesterday, but he wasn't alone - the hand-wringing over his form is a little excessive
  22. once o mac went down there was no one else, unless you wanted t mac thrown back? we were trying to win the game
  23. whatwhat say what replied to rjay's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
The notion of JKH being in our afl 22 frightens me
  24. whatwhat say what replied to rjay's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Port will be a massive game At this stage you’d likely say Garlett and T Smith / Weideman for Spargo and Pedersen, although I’d like Tyson in for Vince and play Harmes defensively where he can be accountable for a man No idea how we match up with Port’s tall forward structure of Dixon, Marshall, Watts plus Westhoff floating in As always it’ll come down to the midfield battle and winning contested ball, something we’ve been smashed in for two weeks
  25. One of very few prepared to give second efforts today Many worse than he was
