  1. Stevie J is brilliant to watch. Would happily have had in our side and we'd be three goals better off per game - he is involved in at least that many per match. Dude is an absolute freak.
  2. Just Google. "Bendigo population" and it gives that figure. Perhaps that's 'greater region' or some such malarkey as per Wikipedia: "Bendigo has an urban population of 82,794 making it the fourth largest inland city in Australia and fourth most populous city in the state. It is the administrative centre for the City of Greater Bendigo which encompasses both the urban area and outlying towns spanning an area of approximately 3,000 square kilometres (1,158 sq mi) and over 111,000 people."
  3. I completely agree that we need to continue to look to sell games unfortunately. What about Bendigo? Dogs have Ballarat as a shorts sponsor akin to Hawks with Tasmania and us with NT, so we've missed that country market. But Bendigo is bigger anyway? Ballarat - 96k Bendigo - 146k
  4. Richmond looked awful, Port weren't much better and Sydney would have to have some concerns you'd think. Crows and Gold Coast were an interesting match up I thought - hard to know what the Suns are actually going to be like until the little master returns, but they definitely look to lack tall goal kicking options. Crows looks like they're just going to be super competitive and tough to beat but not in the class of the best six or so sides in the comp.
  5. first half they were really good. hawks are just a steamrolling machine. easter monday should be a ripper with dangerfield in the sort of form he's in currently.
  6. pies, dogs, cats, dockers, hawks, and kangas all look like pretty handy sides.
  7. i just want to see him out on the park first and foremost. It's interesting that they might be thinking of him more as a deep-lying forward as opposed to one who pushes up the ground, or even as part of the midfield rotations. hopefully that will come, as i definitely don't want him to solely be a forward - we need him to a bursting away from the packs mid as he was in his last underage year.
  8. beyond the sponsorship, from a media perspective, the nt deal was reasonably successful in terms of driving repucom. the biggest issue is it's never the free-to-air game back to victoria - but it is when we play in alice obviously, but that's less value for us and more for port! i'm all for stopping the deal, but i don't know how we make up the shortfall in revenue.
  9. based on his preseason, matt jones would seem to be the obvious answer.
  10. But with more players than in round 1. Expect to see a lot of very tired players when the real thing starts.
  11. roy masters had the story out and about i reckon two years ago that the nt govt sporting sector was more interested in nrl than afl.
  12. you can't stream afl live pass on pc 'live', only in replay.
  13. They're also much more interested in the NRL as noted by his comments. Port Adelaide would be a perfect fit for NT, but they don't need to sell their games so there's no need to have a team there.
  14. it's worth $500k to us annually tho, isn't it?
  15. NT Government slams Melbourne Demons for lack of community engagement, seeks replacement AFL club I know we only see it from our side, but I thought our community engagement work looked stellar. I wonder what this means for the sponsorship?
  16. I'm not insane and neither am I... But I am looking forward to seeing whether he can a) ever get on the field and II) live up to the hype.
  17. watched 10 mins of the first quarter and nearly all the last quarter. first bit port weren't winning the ball and both sides looked super sloppy. last bit tigers weren't winning the ball and both sides looked super sloppy. terrible quality game.
  18. Umpires in the Tigers pockets big time. Toumpas is still a rabbit in headlights and a poor user of the ball. Port aren't winning the ball in the middle at all.
  19. 25-40 possessions a game would be amazing, but if our game style is the same at vfl level as at afl it's unlikely if he's playing anywhere other than as an inside mid role, which he should play, even if we are fully fit. it's only when he comes up to senior level that you'd imagine he'd be more second or third rotation as opposed to starting in the centre. fully fit senior 22? B: Jett - Dunn - Garland HB: Salem - T McDonald - Bugg C: Tyson - N Jones - Brayshaw HF: vandenBerg - Watts - Kennedy F: Kent - Hogan - Garlett Foll: Gawn - Vince - Viney I/C: Petracca - Trengove - Oliver - Pedersen fully fit second 22? B: Hunt - Frost - White HB: Wagner - O McDonald - Terlich C: Lumumba - ANB - Grimes HF: Harmes - Dawes - Stretch F: Hulett - Weideman - Kennedy-Harris Foll: Spencer - M Jones - Newton I/C: Ma King - Mi King - Smith MIA: Melksham (obviously incredibly unlikely you ever have a fully fit list!
  20. for so long? it was 1995 that they played that epic draw, wasn't it? that was the first one i seem to remember.
  21. god i wish we'd recruited dunstall. imagine him as part of that late 80s / early 90s side alongside stynes, lyon, tingay, g lovett, b lovett, wight et al. anyway, back to oliver... was he better nab2 or nab1? probably more spectacular nab 2, with the mark and the big long sweeping handballs?
