Lauren Pearce out for (most of the) season

just turned on the tv and thought 'why is campbell starting ruck?' huge blow -
in fairness to hutchy he bought the wildcats for $8m and then sold them for $40m three years later he definitely knows how to spend other people's money

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
whatwhat say what replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
according to this article, all quarter finals available to be streamed live and free on the Coates Talent League app i didn't even know there WAS a coates talent league app! -
josh weddle looks like a midfielder playing half-back currently but he's the same size as van rooyen
-
even then, nearly half of those players will be onto their second clubs by the start of 2025, and at least several of those - lukosius, rankine, bobby hill - arguably didn't amount to the players they were expected to be at their first club interestingly only five premiership players - atkins from the cats, who was picked in the rookie draft, jordon and sparrow from us, and then quaynor plus norm smith medallist bobby hill, who i think the filth picked up for a pick in the 40s from gw$

kornes would definitely encourage some tantrums being thrown and picks refused ...which is why he'd struggle to maintain working relationships in an ongoing work situation
-
it reminds me a bit of the zac williams to carlton move - the intention is that he was leaving gw$ so that he could play full-time in the midfield i think that lasted about half a dozen games before he was (well, injured and then) back to the half-back flank now he's essentially replaced jack martin or jack silvagni as an extra forward who can create havoc because he's so naturally talented he's able to make something out of nothing personally i'd love houston to land with us - as a half-back flanker he would be a marked upgrade on salem, bowey, rivers, or mcvee, and allow them to be deployed elsewhere
-
his next pay packet won't see him being paid on what he has achieved to date but instead what he may achieve in the future he's going to be a well remunerated professional sportsman, that's for sure
-
further proof that the nga and zone selections helps them retain local players eh...

travis boak remains a marvel not quick, not a brilliant user, but just so smart

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
whatwhat say what replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
would have to be a very good offer indeed, i suspect -
kornes is such a numpty teams want to deal with each other as they have to EVERY YEAR for the rest of the afl's existence it's not like there's more teams that they can trade with outside the league look at how bad the reputation has been for the peptides to deal with for over 20 years; you don't want to have even the perception that you're hard to deal with as it stains you for players, managers, other clubs, and - ultimately - the medja he's such a stephen a smith wannabe

flow on effect is that the pear get cumming and perryman as free agents?

js29 is ooc at the end of 2024 and will, presumably, not be offered another contract
-
almost like - shock! horror! - this puff piece on stringer was set up by his manager
-
he played on the wing for gw$ quite often early days from that age yarn from when he joined us: During his time at GWS, Tomlinson was used as a utility, spending time both in attack and defence, on the wing, and even pinch-hitting as an undersized 194-centimetre ruckman. he played all bar 4 games in his first season with us, so really he only had one year with us before we found a 'role' for him - as a tall defender; the knee injury robbed him of a chance to play that role permanently i much prefer either petty or t mac playing as the third tall accompanying may + lever in the backline set-up
-
crom nuffies seem to think they'll offer something far later as 'dees already said he's leaving' i think they miss the bit where he's still under contract etc. and a deal has probably been tentatively in place for some time
-
Plus Gale and Mathews
-
this has always been my cynical take on it too waterman the same
-
nathan 'freddy' kreuger could definitely play a role for us as a fwd / ruck i imagine the filth feel the same way about his potential role for them but he's constantly breaking down with injury
-
both have played 'up' in their underage year - i'm confident both will be afl-level recruits in terms of riak, the rule SEEMS to indicate that he remains in our academy as he wasn't selected as an 'underage' recruit kid is still all of 19 currently, so hardly 'mature age'

riak andrew's write-up in the rookie me central wildcard summary... #5 Riak Andrew Tall Defender | 192cm | 17/02/2005 Stats: 12 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 rebound 50s Having arguably been bested by Jobe Shanahan in their previous two meetings this year, Andrew faced the daunting task once more and kept Bendigo’s spearhead forward goalless for just the second time. The over-ager stuck tight to his direct opponent and was able to nullify his marking influence when Bendigo had the wind advantage. After some tough moments in term two, one of Andrew’s best moments was a rundown tackle late in the piece to exemplify his effort and intent.

get jai in 2024, then target caleb in 2025? it's high time we get another quality player out of flagmantle - white, langdon... add serong we'd be ahead of the ledger (i'm ignoring chisholm and balic) with farmer and jackson the big names who've gone the other way? in some respected i'd prefer andy brayshaw to caleb serong, but they'd both be key to our midfield, as would hayden young be
