The Run Home
we don't have that many 'kids' who aren't playing in the seniors already in the vfl last round: jefferson - will probably debut this week adams - looks a long way off it verrall - looks a long way off it sestan - not consistent enough at vfl to warrant afl selection pup brown - probably next in line for a call-up kentfield - looks a long way off it farris-white - not ready for vfl let alone afl would love to see el jefe given a solid run for the next 3 games in the seniors, and pup brown should be there too if sestan has one really good game in the vfl, would be great to see him debut for mfc next week

Dan Houston
we took two first round picks to the draft last year; i have no issues with trading out houston is an absolute jet we're in it to win it, regardless of our fall from the pointy end this season he'll help replace the brayshaw role immediately

Trade Targets
if he was a free agent it would be more of a concern but it is certainly an oddity it would be very disappointing if after 5 seasons of pretty good and sometimes great footy he left

2024 Injury List
i personally don't think it would be wise to send everyone off who needs surgery etc. off now, as we already look very short of leadership and senior bodies on the field based on what seems to be his style of leadership, i can't see gawn wanting to NOT play it's going to be interesting to see what path we go down for these last games

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
judging by his role at the under 18s as a player playing 'up' and the word out of gold coast since, he's being modelled more on mac andrew and playing as a tall, athletic defender it will be interesting to see what role he has in his draft year in 2025

NON-MFC: Round 21

yes, it's the midfield but no, rivers can 100% play that role going forward we're currently missing one of the best midfielders in the competition, and it really, really shows, plus of course gus, who was one of our best midfield rotations, missing all year if houston comes then he and rivers will, ultimately, wax and wane like hodge and lewis from half-back to mid you'd think i'd kill for an ldu or equivalent like that style of midfielder to come into our first rotation, but there's really no one of that ilk available this season

waterman's attack on the oppo and his goalkicking are a delight i hope it's true we are chasing him as well as edwards from meth coke, houston from the pear, angwin and cumming from gw$, and plenty of others besides we need to inject some class into the side

Harry Edwards
According to Mark Duffield we have ‘significant interest’ in him From their website, they describe him as a tall defender Towering young tall Harry Edwards has been asked to tackle some big assignments since debuting in 2020, and the former rookie-listed defender gained valuable experience from his 17 senior level appearances in the 2022 season. Edwards did well to use that experience to his advantage when given the opportunity, further developing the 200cm backman at an accelerated rate. Edwards encountered injury concerns in 2023, including a fractured wrist, which saw him feature just twice in the senior squad last year. The Swan Districts product was named West Coast’s Emerging Talent winner in 2021.

so for this off-season we're looking at a father-son and nga as probably late / rookie picks: noah yze: tall half-back / inside mid, regularly getting in the bests for oakleigh ricky mentha: small forward, now being re-tooled as a fast half-back rebounder at the end of 2025 we're likely looking at early / early-ish upgrades: kalani white: tall defender, already playing up an age level at under 18s champs, selected under 16s all oztrayan tairon ah-mu: forward / ruck, dominating for haileybury as a 'junior' and playing under 18 football if white and ah-mu are seriously talented - and, judging by write-ups etc, it would seem they are - i wonder how much we'll know about what we'll need to have in the kitty to get them before we make decisions regarding trading 'out' of the 2025 draft
