i'm going to have a wild stab in the dark... teams we'll play twice: brisbane carlton collingwood fremantle gc17 port adelaide western bulldogs teams we'll play once: adelaide essendon geelong gw$ hawthorn north melbourne richmond st. kilda sydney west coast i fully expect the only ones of those we'll play as a home team at 'the g' will be crom, dorks, and bloods, with gw$ 'home' in the alice geelong at morder, north in tassie, and probably peptides for gil's gather round again
  2. he doesn't suit our style of play his attitude might've been great, as was his ruckwork and ball winning ability, but his workrate and defensive accountability was lacklustre he also showed no ability to be a target forward of the ball, which is pretty much a mandatory requirement for nearly every ruckman in the competition these days i think he'll be fantastic for sydney
  3. if we really do go to the draft with picks 5 and 13, then i expect one of them will be in our starting 23 immediately - they should be more than talented enough - push smith to sub for mine, and whack a talented kid into the starting 22 i see amw as a half-forward who works up and down the ground, not a mid, while woewodin should be inside mid rotating forward from next season on based on this, we look light on for small defenders - brown isn't one like his dad was, based upon underage football we also look top heavy with experienced but underwhelming experienced talls in the front half for casey, which will make it difficult to develop jefferson
  4. i'll be surprised if we do
  5. the problem with this is that players demand trades and pretty much always get their way if clubs had the ability to trade players under contract where they so chose, he would - as you said earlier - probably be exchanged for one of north's end of first round compo-for-being-[censored] picks and he'd be there for a year before being able to sign wherever he wants as a free agent the trade and free agency system in afl is garbage
  6. schulz replaces adams as a high half forward
  7. i remain to be convinced that they're worth that
  8. 2 knee recos is irrelevant value and length of the contract, and other free agency moves this off-season, determine the value of the compensatory pick i reckon it's basically bang on the money - the fact that the bears, filth, and previously the puddy tatts have all been keen on him sais a lot to me about how highly rated he is by the good teams
  9. they tried him on the wing and half-back. and it just didn't work - on-baller rotating forward is his best role and absolutely gus and sparrow are superior in the role over the last two years as 4 and 5; gus arguably was starting rotation in 2023
  10. deal is seemingly done, as outlined

crom going to thebbie oval has been a decade in the planning, cajoling, and execution of getting to an announcement it was also their third preferred option after the aquatic centre and the bowden gasworks site these things are not easy to bring to fruition
  12. but that's exactly why mathieson doesn't make it into their side, and why he wouldn't make it into ours
  13. horse is gonna be hoarse from all the yelling he does at poor old dean cox when grundy is standing in the middle of the scg not pushing forward nor back
  14. i have no doubt that it's going to be pick 3 as mckay compo, as it should be given the abstract way compensation works based upon the new contract and the age of the player at an average of $750k over 5 years and as a 26 year old, ben mckay is right in the sweet spot to get band 1 compo
  15. jordon and hamling as free agents, and still need to bring in adams via a trade so that's two very good 31 year old free agents with a history of injury concerns on three year deals plus a 23 year old classique good ordinary inside mid i dunno if i'd call it 'cleaning up' - more getting their business done early
  16. it'll be interesting to see if it becomes a hunter-like situation where the aints effectively give him away for sweet fanny adams just to get him and his salary off their books
  17. i would say our midfield is the equal of theirs in terms of its ability mathieson isn't going to make our midfield any better just like he doesn't make the bears' side either; if 'beast mode' was playing in our best 23 i'd be more rather than less concerned about the quality of depth we have
  18. it took us a long time to adapt to their dominance at stoppages and with overlap run once we did i thought it was a really good contest dropping campbell was in hindsight probably an error, as good as harris was as a follower in the last quarter and a bit
  19. pretty sure garry lyon put in the good word for us with the family at a recent kyabram fc shindig
  20. 6: Zanker 5: McNamara 4: Goldrick 3: B Mackin 2: Gay 1: Harris
  21. maggots gonna maggot but the way they’ve burst thru stoppage with overlap run and precise ball use has been the clear difference between the sides
  22. Being dominated around the ball
  23. Their pressure gone up big time
  24. Impressive first quarter
