  1. Sylvia ran hard all day and i thought was very good and has been since he got back from suspension
  2. tonatopia, on 06 Jul 2013 - 11:39 AM, said: Davey may get another year given his form has been good this year. Nicholson and Jetta have had a lot of time and still cant cement a spot in a terrible side.... they both must go. Pretty good summary all together, I think we might try to clear out a few contracted players too as i reckon we will use a few more pics. As you said, will all depend on new coach id imagine
  3. I reckon Burgs is great. We get a thousand negative articles a week written about us, its nice to hear stories that are not only positive, but football based! We need more of it..
  4. Agreed. I said this a month ago and everyone got on my back. To me his biggest problem is he gets majority of his touches late in games when it is over, and he is soft. Prefer to have a younger player in.
  5. I find it pretty easy to justify.... if you actually look the rules and how they are evaluated, past drafting history has NOTHING to do with it. It is based on performance over a period of time, continual lack of success is the real factor. We could blow a million picks in a row and it has no impact.
  6. Should be going this weekend anyway, shouldnt take a new coach to support your club.

to be fair, Smith looked really good early on, he played two games in his first year and was quick, nimble with strong hands. After his knee troubles, his pace and mobility were never the same. Injury had a lot to do with him not succeeding.
  8. No he is not going to take a bounce and slow one from the wing but neither is Gawn..... Good ruckman these days need to have a presence down forward and when Jamar was at his best 10/11 he was kicking goals too.
  9. Further to that, he has averaged 2 marks per game this year.... not good enough... and had kicked 2 goals from 9 games compared with Gawn who has 6 from 6
  10. totally agree! On weekend he had 12 possessions and 6 of them resulted in critical errors, that was the most errors on the field. He is not having an impact up forward. Time to make a statement and let Gawn and Fitz ruck a few games together and challenge Mark to dominate VFL and force his way back in.
  11. agree with resigning of Watts and Sylvia as well as some wins! But importantly. really want to see significant development in the second half of the year from the following players: Strauss, Blease, Tappscott, Taggert, Tom McD, Bail, Watts, Trengove, McKenzie, Kent, Evans, Gawn, Howe & Fitzpatrick...... it is this group of players with a few years under their belt that are crucial to our rise up the ladder. If they can all show significant improvement and start reaching their potential this will help us start winning games.
  12. Disagree on Byrnes, Yes he played well against Brisbane and GWS but we don't need "leaders" who can only play well against crap teams. He hasn't fired when we need him most which is when the going gets tough. Id prefer to play Taggert, Jetta, Blease or Toumpas. Although he has been better than Rodan!
  13. In Dawes, Fitzpatrick, Toumpas, Jetta Out Grimes, Spencer, Nicholson & Byrnes Byrnes should not be in the team for an extended period if not ever again. Im sorry but he was brought here to be a leader and yet in the first quarter he can't get near the ball and seems to play soft lifeless footy. He gets cheap possessions during junk time. We can not afford to waste games on old rejects if they are not making a significant impact on the ground. If he is going to continue to be useless id prefer to have a young kid in getting experience.
  14. Thought I would start a thread to capture everyones predictions for the year...... no point with obvious predictions so try to keep it interesting.....could be good to reflect on at end of year.... Mine: Rory Taggert to get a spot in the team by round 12 and play last 10 games in seniors.... Blease to finish top 10 in B&F Watts to finish top 3 in B&F Dan Nicholson to loose his spot in team by mid year and play last half of season in VFL
  15. agreed, this is like a lovers argument, u guys got something going on? ha
  16. Surprised we have held on to Bartram, Joel Mac & Davis.... would have preferred to loose one of them and keep Cook. Will be interesting to see if Cook, Bate, Petterd get picked up.... So this leaves us with 4 free spots on the list? Which means probably use pick 4, 49, 53 & either upgrade a rookie or look at PSD ?
  17. Any of these teams look a lot better than last years best 22..... im enjoying that! Hopefully be some good competition for spots. Strauss, Tappy, Bail, Davey all need good pre seasons
  18. at end of the day, the club has had him on the list for 12 months and will know very well by now what is strengths and weaknesses are and what he might become so I am confident they know what they are doing
  19. I cant believe people are putting Gawn down as a round 1 starter? Lets be realistic, he has not played much footy in the last 3 years and is still a monster young ruck. Lets be happy if he can just play a full year at any level and hopefully pop up for a few AFL games to build his experience
  20. Will be interesting. If the club does trade Martin it would only because they see Dawes or someone internally (Maybe Fitzpatrick?) playing that role next year. They must have faith that Fitzy can be that forward/back up ruck
  21. Norm Smith actor was excellent too !
  22. May already be a topic but worth another reminder... I saw this stage show tonight and was brilliant. Some great Demon moments with Barassi and Norm Smith, and of course Robbo stars in it also. A must see for all Demons fans!!
  23. Williams is 2 full years older than Cook that explains why he is a bit more developed physically. I reslly hope the coaching panel give an explanation of why cook was delisted.
  24. without doing a proper search here is a quick article i found. The recruiters went into more depth but u can see here he was drafted as a fwd/ruck. It is fascinating reading an article like this 2 years later! http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/105353/default.aspx
  25. Jordie, I am just repeating what our recruiting staff said so unless you know more than them? When drafted he was 194cm (same height as Jeff White) and was apparently still growing according to the tests we did, who knows how accurate they are but he was definitely drafted as a forward who could potentially also ruck
