Get over it mate, its not rocket science, young players like this are valued because of their potential. It may not be realised yet but the potential is there based on the fact he has had a good junior career and in the 1 season he has been healthy showed dominant form in WAFL. Now I am not saying that means he is going to be a gun by any means, but you dont have to be Einstein to figure out why people are excited. Its the nature of Sport, the power of potential always excites.

i dont believe they would be on the table. I think Roos would like to develop all our youngsters and these two clearly have talent, so more valuable to keep compared to what we would get for them.

Because they have an abundence of midfielders and desperately need Key Backmen..... I would imagine Matt Scharenberg would be pretty appealing to them!

Winning games will be the key, hopefully over next 12 months there can be enough development to give potential players (from all clubs) faith we are heading in the right direction

On the Dylan Shiel, i heard Chocco at a footy function recently say he (Shiel) will be coming back to Victoria end of next season in a trade and GWS will begin to trade midfielders back over next few years to fill gaps in their list. He claimed they have 13-15 midfielders on their list that they think will be extremely good players and their strategy was to spend 2 years deciding which ones they want to keep. Also said buddy is long gone but we all know that by now.

I liked what PJ said the other day, that we would look at players on the fringe for very good midfields who are looking for greater opportunity. 1 or 2 of them combined with a chappy or cross and I think that could be enough 'mature' support for the likes of Viney, Kent, Toumpas, Pick 2, etc.

Do you honestly think any of these players excluding Gawn will be on our list next year?

Tynan has to go, he was injury free almost all year, in one of the worst years in history and they still didnt give him a game. I see Taggert a litttle different as it was really his first year and will be a lot better once he gets his fitness base up.

I see it like this: (in 2 years time) Core Midfield Jack Viney Jimmy Toumpas Jack Trengove James Aish Jordie Mckenzie Nathan Jones Colin Sylvia Jack Grimes MOST IMPORTANT for us to really charge back up the ladder, from the group below , we need 3 or 4 players who can push through the middle when required as well as play other roles, forward or back, and at least 2 players from this group to bob up, show significant development and become top line midfielders. Dom Barry Sam Blease Rory Taggert Luke Tappscott Michael Evans Dean Kent Matt Jones Dean Terlich Mitch Clisby Would also expect to add 2-3 players through draft to this list over next 2 years. Plenty of potential but both groups need to get a lot better and that second group will be crucial.

I thought Spencer was pathetic. Get Gawn in. He sold grimes down the river twice by not blocking his man.... was non competitive in the ruck and gave away silly frees. Bring back the Gawn monster!

He was fantastic yesterday, a real positive of the game. I think you have misread his game. I thought his ability to stay composed in congestion and not on get a handpass out, but get a creative handpass out that lead to an open man was very exciting. Showed he has ability to play inside which will complement his outside running ability. A real step forward in what has been a disappointing first season for him.

Titan, totally disagree, Tappscott I think will be a very good player. He offers us hardness at the contest, good overhead mark, good disposal, and once he gets his fiteness base up will be able to get to more contests and show this more. Has not done a full pre season yet.

VFL eligibility has changed so we should have no problems there. I think it can be invaluable to give young players a taste of AFL footy late in the year. You hear many players say that it helped drive them during the next pre season having had a taste and realising where they need to get to. EG Tom McDonald. This could be great for Taggert

Speak of Best, Best, the Casey player seems to be kicking goals and playing well every week, could be worth looking at but i dont know what sort of player he is?

Strauss must be getting annoyed, he has been one of the better demons and had over 20 touches for about the last month straight, and Toumpas gets 2 handballs and still stays ahead of him..... need to reward form

Strauss is contracted for another year I believe so unless we find a trade he will stay. Jetta and Davis will go, both OOC and been on list a few years and neither can make our team. Must be moved on.

Time for Taggert and Tappscot to show some improvement, they need to finish the year strong. Same for Strauss but think he is closer having been in the best the last 2 weeks.
