So long Robbo, might start watching again.
-
And welcome to Brisbane land the no.1 kid in the country!
-
The MCG is 100,000. Checkmate.
-
I think you will see clubs move towards this model and also start to favour the experience.
-
Not as a direct replacement for McQualter. Goodwin needs a right hand who sees the game from the box and relays back to him quickly, a lot of trust is put in that relationship. At least a bit of experience knowing how things work in a coaches box is preferable in my opinion. If he's coming on as a backgrounder then all for it but for this particular role I don't think you can be fresh off the boat.

All great points. I've gone a bit hard on Grundy after this game but there's no doubt the midfield just didn't show up and they had nothing out of their tall forwards to even give them a chance. Inside 50s were pretty even at 49-51 but scoring shots doubled 15-30 in Brisbane's favour. Obviously there was a lot of messy delivery but they were unable to trap it in there as well. As for Grundy, when it comes to this performance and his other grand final performance in 2018 he tended to do two things: 1. Over do the grappling and little holds 2. Tap a bucketload of ball down to opposition mids. The 2nd can be a chicken and egg scenario and people can talk about opposition sharking and poor midfield all they want but I'm expecting a bit more from a ruckman as highly paid as him in this game. As mentioned earlier by someone else it was the 3 horrible centre clearances he played a part in during the second that tilted the game towards Brisbane. He did not make up for it with his around the ground game either, apart from that 1 contested mark at HB. In the end as we all knew last year, he's a ruckman pure and simple. He's not the kind you can send forward to take a grab when all other forwards are failing and he does pick and choose when to track back. If this is going to be the case then he would want to do his main job quite well, not just ok.

Big time. Few are aware of the potential effect sacrificing can make.
-
Was he the one that did some podcast with Max on Saturday? I do agree with that though.
-
I'm actually thinking the Swans could have interest, they need to re-jig their forward line and might be one of the few clubs who can extract the best from him.

Andrew McQualter - Appointed coach of the West Coast Eagles
layzie replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well done to Andrew and all the best, these jobs don't come around often. -
I'm actually pretty proud to have paved the way for the professional era on here.
-
Agree. How many complete accidents need to end in surgery? I like Mills a lot but if you were gonna make one mistake in your career then this one was a beauty.

Nothing that a few beers can't fix for now!

Most likely. Even the touted Olympic venue for Brisbane is only rumoured to be 60,000 capacity. Would never say never but it's extremely unlikely.

So apparently Lachie Neale snapped his plantar fascia completely in the celebrations. Sounded like he couldn't walk on Thursday and they often have him doing minimal training to get him through but I'm sure he couldn't care less. Has quite the CV now. Haven't seen this one back yet but I'm still stunned that Sydney didn't adjust to the way the Lions were transitioning out of the backline. They would either hit a runner with a handball off half-back and attack through the middle or use some leg speed to carry and setup from there, they scored a lot from this and the Swans really did nothing to combat it, even when they did manage to force them wide they just let them get their uncontested marks and have their way. The game was won on the outside and Sydney were extremely disappointing.

Always thinking of the business side 😝
-
As an aside that Gabba game was when I knew Brisbane were the real deal. Didn't even play well in that game and missed a boatload of chances but still managed to generate enough to beat a spirited Melbourne side.

Very few ACL comeback stories better than Will Ashcroft's. Does his ACL in the middle of his first season, returns in Rd 16 this year then a dozen games later is best afield in the GF. Bright future.
-
Yep. I feel like people saying Grundy was good are just reading the stat sheet. Collectively his and his mids performance let the team down. Far from their worst but that's not saying much. Rowbottom, Florent and maybe even Fox were better.
-
It's so disappointing, not just for their fans but us who have to watch it.

This is where the real work is done.

The thread is titled 'For those who underrate our premiership' why use this as an opportunity for virtue signalling? The cost of living in this country is going through the roof, club memberships prices are rising again, Kayo about to be slapped with a big increase. If you're going to fly a flag for the unfortunate people who don't have the luxury of attending or watching our great game then direct some anger towards these organisations, not just good MFC fans who would have liked to be at their only premiership in 57 years. It has never been more expensive to follow the sport and this wasn't exclusive to the Grand Final being in Perth.
-
There's a big difference between feeling a little downhearted that we couldn't be there in person and calling it a fake flag. I don't know why people can't separate the two.
-
I'm forever grateful that we won it anywhere and I don't NEED to see one on the MCG, it was hard enough to climb the mountain once let alone twice. Extremely happy we did what we did. But don't tell me that I can't feel a little slighted that a GF week in Melb, a captains run, being there in person and a celebration at Gosch's with all our other fans was taken away from us. When you're someone who pays up your membership each year even when money is tight, goes to games regularly even when there was 10,000 in attendance and most of our fans had bailed on us and made donations to the club in 2020 when many of us lost our jobs or had hours cut simply because we believed in the club as an institution and wanted it to survive, it is pretty harsh to tell someone like that to simply 'get over it'. I'm glad to see so many have moved past that feeling and I have to an extent, however there's nothing wrong with having that in the back of the mind when it comes to the 2021 flag. Some would have loved being cooped up in their homes watching on tv but for others that situation alone for months on end led to depression (football and grand finals aside) and there's probably no need to gaslight others who feel the same way. Life isn't black and white.
