  1. Happy for Brad to be back but he was opposite player to what you state, Brad wasn't a strong contested mark he was a pure work horse lead up forward. His ability to perform well was dictated on how the ball was delivered to him. I still believe Brad was a very good CHF to only problem was our mids couldn't hit him. I think it was the last final we played against Fremantle he never stopped leading and had his best game from the club. With the demise of our midfield it brought meant the end for Brad. Would love for him to grab Watts to show him how to play as that hit up high half forward and the work rate required.
  2. To me it is down to two Simpson or Kirk, and this will depend on the Brisbane job but the only reason we haven't annouced yet is our prospect is still coaching in the grand final.
  3. I reakon they really managed this guy well, shame he missed the Casey finals but I think the club would be happy with what he acheived at Casey. Gets more strength over the next 6 months he has the endurance and speed to play on a wing, we shouldn't see him to much next year, it will be another development year for him, if he can manage 5-8 games at AFL level next year that he earns and not given that would be a good result.
  4. Reading the clubs website and Peter Jackson's comments in another Jack Watts Article, looks like the club will not be paying 100% of salary cap. This will limit the players we can target so to me Pick 2 will be used by us in the National Draft, then we will be after players like Miles, Cross, Maverick Wellar, Savage players that just can't break into midfields. I'd be happy with Aish, Pick 20 Inside Midfielder, Garlett as Third Rd Pick, 4th Round HBF, Cross and Wellar as Uncontracted Free agents, plus target Miles for PSD pick 2 7 in plus Hogan 8, then we just need to decide whether to upgrade Magner and Clisby, if we do we need to make room for them. We can't fix our list with one draft, If Sylvia goes we will get pick 21 for him and some spare cash to try and get a Savage from Hawthorn.
  5. This is why I think we have a slight chance of getting a priority pick, the AFL has on it's hand 3 clubs that are heading on a similar path to the MFC, Brisbane is looking likely to lose a number of young players plus a couple of champions, St Kilda will be in all sorts next year if not next the year after and GWS has talent but a long way off. If they don't give a pick to MFC you are right it should be dead, but it can't be dead because the AFL need in particular the interstate teams to be competitive. If Brisbane continue on the path they are the AFL needs them to get back quick or the AFL will be looking at a monster bail out for them.
  6. Like the hole team he had his confidence coached out of him for the first half of the year, was lost on the field and was more worried about where he had to position himself rather than winning the footy. The highlight of this was running into an open goal against GWS, I saw footage of him when he was draft exactly the same running down the wing from 50m, different player one backed himself to kick the goal the other ran into to trouble trying to pass it off. He was lost in 2013 he forgot how to get the footy. But in the wet against Geelong was the cleanest player out there, he runs well creates and spread I'm really looking forward to seeing a confident Jimmy next year
  7. I loved Garry Lyon last night, Barrett going on about Melbourne and it was great to show some Melbourne Arrogance come from Garry saying somthing along the lines the club doesn't care what the the other clubs think and they will do what they want.
  8. It's nice to have a wish list but I'd be happy to add Cross, Maverick Wellar, Anthony Miles. Keep our first 2 round draft picks add two more mids with these. Cross as an uncontracted free agent, Wellar PSD and Miles offer our third round pick or better still get him PSD and rookie Wellar.
  9. He is the type of defender we need a quick hbf type that can kick run and carry defensive side got better this year and will most likely over time push onto a wing. Don't be so sure on the return to wa
  10. This is a big call for the AFL, it basically kills the priority pick if the MFC doesn't get one. What then happens it the GWS doesn't improve over the next two years, or Brisbane continues to implode over the next 12 months or Sydney start to lose there older players and really bottoms, the AFL can't have these interstate clubs propping up the AFL ladder, it is not good for the game and the games development in these rugby states. The AFL need to keep the priority pick alive.
  11. I find it funny that people are starting to question our forward line and where Watts fits. To me it is simple, he is a half forward flack and that is the position that Jack Watts is best suited to at this stage of his physical development. I see him and Howe rotating of HFF/wing and pushing deep forward for a spell. The only tall forward we have that is that traditional tall forward is Chris Dawes, you look at Watts, Clark, Hogan and even Fitzpatrick they are agile and good at ground level. I get exited seeing Paul Roos at our club and I'm sure he is exited to have a foward line lining up Kent Clark Hogan Howe Dawes Watts Would love a defensive small forward Kent is our best option at the moment
  12. The other clubs must be prepared that if the MFC doesn't get a priority pick this year it basically mean the priority pick is dead. It's funny to listen to members of the media whose teams have greatly benefited from the priority picks in the past now come out dead against us getting one. Carlton for example has 3 priority no 1 picks, they shouldn't have been in the draft for 2 of those years due to cheating but found a loop hole that allowed them to get Gibbs and Murphey followed up with the tank year to get Kruzer. Of the top 8 teams I think 5 have benefited from priority picks. We have had 7 bad years and received 2 priority picks. The media are making it out that we have a heap of proirity picks, the other early picks we have had are due to trading, losing a No1 pick to an expansion club and our National draft picks.
  13. The Heart of the club was close to stopping this season, we have life back into our club, I hope 2014 is a year that we can be proud of.
  14. Kent was good, the pick of our small forwards all year. That is not saying much Davey is the other small forward that went OK the rest were shocking. Like Kent he has that hunger, loves a goal tackles well and unlike Sam Blease has a defensive side. I think next year if he continues to develop he will push onto a wing for periods of a game. Our forwards would love him running out of the middle with the footy his kicks go longer than most think. Not a marking forward but was used as a hit up player this year, next year he won't he will be a run and receive player. He offers more than Tapscott, Blease, Bail and Byrnes, if he gets better which he will he could be starting 18 for next year. One of the real shining lights going forward
  15. So do I, I would love Voss to take that role. First day of pre-season our players walk in Paul Roos, premiership coach and standing next to him a 3 time premiership captian brownlow medalist, you have to respect that. Voss went straight from media to coach and he did it his way stuffed up early but over the last couple of years made some very good footballers out of some late draft picks and rookies. He would be a very good senior assistant, midfield coach.
  16. We can't blame the MFC for this result, I think North only had 7 listed players out there. The fact is the VFL depth isn't there. YOu take out 6-7 MFC list players and Casey struggles. I feel for the Casey supporters but as a MFC supporter Casey is our VFL team because they don't have the Money to buy players like Werribee, Williamstown and Port Melbourne. Most Casey matches had the MFC team with top up players from Casey. This is what we all have wanted for years, Casey are the Melbourne FC VFL team same as Geelong, Collingwood, Essendon and as that the team is there to what is best for the MFC.
  17. In the herald sun back page sport section
  18. Here is real target Anthony Miles as reported today he is confirmed up for trade he is hard and will appeal to us third or fourrth round pick will get him if not preseason.
  19. Good on him, for Roos to say that boy would that put a spring in both those guys step. They are both very much confidence players and to have one of the most respected people in the AFL say that it would make them forget about the past and look forward to being coached by such a great man
  20. More importantly, who sent the text messages to Roos. You have to love the commitment of our players, they have been whack from pilar to post for the past 6 years, they were a big key getting Roos to our club. They have worked extremely hard over the past 2 years to get their training up to AFL standards, Chis Dawes said this recently that the boys trained harder than Collingwood and their commitment can not be questioned, Roos mentioned this today. They want to get better and now they will have a coach that will give them every chance to be the best football team they can be. Things will turn and turn quickly. Expect Watts to re-sign over the next couple of days, it would be hard not to.
  21. I'm sure we had leading teams involved with our club when Dean Bailey was coaching.
  22. Cameron Ling, two reasons first we get the premiership coach and then a premiership captian from two great clubs of the past decade. The other reason you get Ling and you hope Roos does 3 years, you get a Simpson, Tudor or another current assistant he most likely does 2.
  23. What a let down only a two year contract
  24. You will findf Andy Mahers source is The Ox, you would think that if a press conference is to be today it will need to be done before 1.00pm as the MCG has a pretty big event tonight and Roos has his own media commitments. I still think next Tuesday but I hope I'm wrong.
  25. Opel, doesn't help coming into a market that has the exact same car already in that market.
