Looking at the pictures doesn't seem to be any skinny kids on our list. -

I love the no fuss approach, no bells and whistles just a press conference before training, no financial details it basically is our business not yours, straight to the point no hype. -

PJ on the AFL website mentions the club should be in the black next season. Great effort, even with the AFL money we will drop about a million this year -

Agree, hate to see him go because he has something but he isn't a small crumbing forward, he plays more as a small leading forward he hasn't been able to push into the midfield, which these days is a massive requirement for small forwards, if he can't do that the only option is to take him down back again. Be interesting if he is mentioned in todays training reports -

I've read the reports one question has Luke Tapscott ever been out of the rehab group prior to Christmas. Every year I read that Tappy is in the rehab group. -
My Heart Beats True - 2014 Membership Campaign Launched

Would love the club to go on a big drive over the next 4 weeks to push for 25,000 prior to Christmas, that would be a fantastic achievement. -
The only way he gets a game is in our backline, with Nev gone we are light on for small defenders. He shouldn't get a game in our midfield, but would compete with Strauss, Clisby and Terlich for a spot
-
With the interchange cap and 3 on the bench, your small forwards have to be able to run through the midfield.
-
Who cares, it is about improving our list and doing what needs to be done. You look at the 5 players we have brought in they meet our needs and we still have pick 9 and 40 to add. Pick 9 will add another high quality midfielder and pick 40 like every pick mid draft will be hit and miss.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - AIDAN RILEY
drdrake replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Trengove is quality, his body wasn't right last year. The thing with Jack he tried to set the example as per Mark Neeld's instructions, he was so focused on doing the hard defensive acts that he forgot how to get the footy. He will be a totally different player next year. -
No idea who it will be but I like to think we get, Ruckman, Key Defender, Mature Midfielder and Small Forward.
-
I don't follow the kids but I do read the so called expert opinions on them. It seems fairly consistent opinion that this is an extremely shallow draft and with that in mind the club may be happy to go in with pick 9 and 40 plus Clisby. They see more value in Riley than what would be available at pick 57. We then focus on some developing talls and another mature midfielder to fill our rookie spot. The PSD is almost dead, the introduction of delisted free agents will kill this. Have to love what the club has done, they identified a massive weakness and have added Tyson, Michie, Vince, Cross and Riley, all of the sudden we have midfield depth and hopefully 4 young players that can be very good midfielders in Tyson, Toumpas, Viney and Pick 9.
-
I hope any sponsor makes it a part of the deal to get rid of that stupid collar.
-
I agree, some on here have smashed this kid, he is different from our top end draft failures of the past 10 years, he wants to work and wants to be the best football player he can be. He is not happy to be just an average AFL player. He needs to keep his body right through out pre-season, if he can do this we will see the real talent he is. Our forwards will be excited by Jimmy running through the middle delivering to the lace out.

There was a bloke that was drafted to Sydney, tall bloke could jump a bit to short for a ruck man agile good skills and could run. His first few years at Sydney he was a little soft and struggled to really find a role, wasn't strong enough for key forward but was a player. Then a few years later he became a midfielder forward won a brownlow and is now considered a great of the game. Is Paul Roos trying to turn Jack Watts into a Adam Goodes style of player. Not saying Watts will get to the level of Goodes but I can see a similar path.

RD 1 2014 - v St. Kilda @ Etihad Saturday Night
drdrake replied to demonkeaney's topic in Melbourne Demons
November 6 start of pre-season and a long way out from round 1. I like reading the predictions for round 1, it gives you that little hope that we won't suck next year. I find it amazing the different positions we put players into. For example, some have Trengove as HFF and Watts on a wing, Trengove is a midfielder if he doesn't play that role he doesn't play, Watts is a forward that has the ability to push into the midfield. Some then put midfielders on the HBF, I have seen Toumpas, Cross, Vince, Michie, Trengove all on the HBF, we need these players in the midfield, leave the HBF for Grimes, Terlich, Jetta, Strauss, Dunn, Clisby and I wouldn't mind seeing Tapscott back there as well. -
Does anyone know the other game the members get as compensation for our NT matches, Carlton was one and the other was meant to be advised on Friday
-
Hard to attack when the ball is always in your back half, you stop creating when you know the ball is most likely coming straight back over your head
-
Spot on, if we can increase our inside 50m count to above 50 per match it gives us every chance to win matches.
-
We need to have 5 wins as a minimum this year anymore than that is a bonus any less would be a let down

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS

While all the St kilda stuff has been going on, Cross is now officially a Dee -
Didn't Al Clarkson have issues with Pelchin as well when he was at Hawthorn. I remember there was a period that it may have been a him or me situation between the two, one now has two premierships the other is in charge of a severely fractured club. We have seen over the past 7 years what office and Footy staff can do to a club, it stuffed our club and it looks like the Saints are follow our path.
-
You would be extremely happy if you are Longer, Savage and Co that have just moved there, I wonder if Wellar still wants to go to the Saints.

What do we do for three weeks between our last pre-season match against Geelong to Round 1
