Utmost respect for Tim Watson. To man up and do the news and the special on now would be extremely tuff. Ultimate professional
-
Ive seen a couple of preseason pictures and on the Herald sun site today, are we going back to royal blue instead of navy
-
He will have an amazing year playing high half forward wing, 2016 will be his best by far, there were some really good signs in 2015 let himself down in the last 4 to 5 games.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
drdrake replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
That is something that stood out with all our 4 picks, each have had to overcome something to get drafted. To me it shows that they had the hunger to work hard to get themselves in a position to get onto an AFL list -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER

To me he moves and plays like Dane Swan, has that strength and step plus good over head, when I saw the footage of him this is who I think he plays like -
I like to look at both the best 22 followed by the rest just to really assess our depth and future First 22 Jetta T Mac O Mac Melksham Garland Salem H N Jones Vince Watts Dawes Kent Garlett Hogan Frost Gawn Viney Tyson Brayshaw, Vandenburg, Petraca, Bugg The rest Terlich Dunn Grimes Hunt Pederson White Stretch ANB Harmes Hullett Weiderman Trengove JKH Max King Kennedy Spencer Newton Oliver M Jones Michie Mitch King Joel Smith

I think a few are a little confused on what is a KP size. Ideally you want at least 194cm +, isn't Curnow and Francis around the 192cm? With reduce interchange you need a 198cm ruck forward to sit in your forward pocket. The forward set is changing back to old school 2 keys and a resting ruckman with the pace at the feet or a high half forward. Take the two Weiderman and McKay, back the mids we have to develop, mids can have early impact in their careers, where as tall take 2-3 years, draft this year for that 2-3 years, so when we should be peaking as a group we have the three legit tall forwards. Then add mids through free agents and upcoming drafts. Get the talls this year.
-
There are a number of mids we can pick and I don't think there is a massive gap between them. We need a true key position forward, not under size lead up forwards. For me pick 3 Wiederman and pick 7 Mckay, bring in two keys one that can play that Ruck/Forward role. Then two picks late in the draft to get some mid size players.
-
JKH is not a small forward, it was the same a Jetta and Bennell they never looked comfortable in that small forward role. JKH has one thing that Jetta and Bennell didn't a reasonable tank, he can be a midfielder. Unfortunately, I think he is so far down the pecking order as a midfielder that he will struggle. He also lost his kicking, first year couldn't miss a goal, this year couldn't kick

Not as key defender Jetta MacDonald Garland Trengove Frost Melksham Salem N Jones Brayshaw Watts Dawes Kent Garlett Hogan Gawn Spencer Vince Viney Tyson, Bugg, Vandenburg, Petracca

Look at the outs from our delistings retirements and trading and what we replace them witk Out Cross Jamar Howe Toumpas Fitzpatrick Bail McKenzie Riley Rd 1 pick 2017 In MilkShake Bugg Kennedy Vanderburg Pick 3 Pick 7 Pick 46 Pick 50 I rate that a B, would have been an A if we could have kept next years pick.
-
We fill holes but at least now days our kids will be developed rather than played straight away. No doubt we will take a tall with one of the picks it will be one that is 198cm plus that can ruck
-
Happy this is done and unlike many i think we got overs considering the year both Howe and Toumpas had. One couldnt get a game the other a kick so to get a player and 2 picks we smile and say thanks
-
Ok, if we get Bugg, Kennedy and Melksham, plus we get Kent, Trengove and Petraca back you would expect us to go tall with in the draft
-
I heard Howe to freo October last year, guessing the trade but our second for their first and maybe grab their second round pick, i reckon something like that works
-
Our second round pick will go to Freo for their first round pick and they get Howe
-
Im sick of people like Daniel Chick that fail to blame themselves for their own life choices. You choose what you take the club officials didnt force you to take drugs. Man up and take responsibility

Is the afl competition any more even since the draft & salary cap??
drdrake replied to Demonsone's topic in Melbourne Demons
With GWS and Gold Coast receiving the draft concessions it was always going to mean the top teams would stay up for an extended period of time. We had our chance to get talent in prior to the effected drafts but as we all know we stuffed it and West Coast got it right. With free agency the top teams have been able to add top end talent and also attract young players through the draft. I still think teams should lose the pick for a free agent, so for Frawley Hawthorn should loss first round pick -
I think we have a hook with a massive bait on it but unfortunately the bait is off and nothing is biting. We will change the bait to something less and pick of smaller fish, so no more Marlon more like a nice pink snapper
-
I still expect over the next couple of days he will ask to be traded to Fremantle. He is exactly the type of Player Fremantle needs and I will take pick 16 and there second round pick off them for Howe and our second round pick.
-
Howe and 4th round pick to Fremantle for Tabenar and Fremantles 3rd round pick. 2nd round pick to Gold Coast for Bennell and Gold Coast 3rd round pick Then try to get some free agents.
-
Maybe his preferred club is still playing finals and wear purple jumpers.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
drdrake replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Looking at our team we still have holes but getting close. I would like following trades, to start Howe and 4th round pick to GWS for Hampton and GWS 2nd round pick That GWS second Round pick to Gold coast for Zac Smith and their 4th round pick This gives us first 2 picks to offer around for a mid or keep them and get Danger as a free agent but I reckon Hawthorn might have him. Also would try to get Tabenar from Fremantle or the ruck they stole from us. -
I would say from the uncontracted list Jamar, McKenzie, Howe, Bail, Riley, Howe will be gone by end of trading week. It wouldn't surprise me to see Garland go as well, Hunt might get a rookie downgrade replaced by Harmes. King and White get another year I think Fitzpatrick gets another year only because we really don't have many true tall players as back up keys. 8 off senior list 2 rookie upgrades, 6 spots to fill plus a rookie. 3-4 at draft day 2-3 through trade week

I don't think from the reading the article and listening to his speech he had that choice, the club made it for him.
