2020 AFL Rookie Draft
I think we take our 1 pick today, hopefully a Tall Forward that we can put some time into and develop.

2020 AFL Draft
I agree, looks like we have taken natural footballers with the skill set and agility we need with our first 2 picks and then the raw Athlete with our third pick. Watching the draft, what a long boring watch it was. Clubs should have 2 minutes, get through the round then do a summary of players. Top 5 have the profile and interview after that get this moving faster.

Casey redevelopment
You are correct a gym is a gym as long as you have the space and equipment. The big advantage is the recovery and planning facilities. The players are at training bases now for basically 6-8 hours a day. A lot of that is recovery and planning add in rest times. It has gone past a ice bath and lap pool plus a couple of rooms for social space and computer/planning work. Clubs have bed rooms for players to rest in between session, varying different areas to keep the players entertained whilst at the club. You will find it isn't a big item that we are missing just little things that will add up

Are we finished yet?
Could we offer Collingwood 28 and future second round for future first. Gives them points to cover the bid this year and some points for next year.

THE PECKING ORDER
No he isn't, Oliver gets the Footy but doesn't really hurt sides. I would take a 15 touch game from Petracca over a 30+ touch game from Oliver any day of the week. Melksham is rated highly on his talent, he is an extremely talented and damaging player we just don't see it consistently enough, if he can delivery it on a regular basis we are winning more games, that is why he is rated as important.

THE PECKING ORDER
Are we talking the most important players playing at top form for us to get deep into finals or just best players. To me we need the below players at their absolute best for us to be a contender in 2021 Petracca Gawn May Brown Tmac/Weiderman Lever Oliver Brayshaw Salem Fritsch Hibberd Viney Melksham Langdon If these group of players can bring their best football on a consistent basis we can go deep into September. The others that will make up the 22 will lift if these guys play well. TMac/Weiderman I combined as I see that second tall forward roll an extremely Vital role, one of these guys need to step up. I expect Jackson to be more a mobile forward second ruck rather that a key forward. My list is based on players we need at their best to contend. Vital that our 2 key defenders and key forwards take control, if we cant step up in these key roles we will struggle

Punt Road redevelopment
To me thinking outside the box, look at Royal park team up with Netball Victoria, VIS and Melbourne Vixens, have a facility that will also cater for the high performance Netball. Netball will use the indoor courts at State Netball Centre for training there are many ovals near their we can make into our base and have a building that caters for the clubs indoor training needs and admins. Keeps us on the out skirts of the City, even add in something to do with the Hospitals in that vicinity maybe a physical rehab centre or something like that.

Punt Road redevelopment
I drove past Goschs Paddock yesterday, the ground had cyclone fencing all round. I'm assuming this will be a covid thing for preseason training. The members forum is the ideal opportunity to raise the question, basically every Victorian club has received State or Federal funding for facility upgrades this year. Money will dry up as governments try to eat into deficits in the years to come. When you will look what the other AFL teams will have at their facilities, the MFC is as far behind other clubs as we where when training at the Junction Oval, our facilities have improved dramatically but are now a way off other clubs

Farewell Oscar McDonald
I reckon Omac will be at North next season

Welcome to Demonland - Picks 18 & 19
If you look at our list the biggest need is for versatile Mids. What I read in most Mock Drafts there seem to be a number of these that will be available in the Top 35 of the draft. All I know is the players we draft will have similar profiles speed, good Kick can play inside/outside Mid, also can push forward or back of Half Back(one or the other). I can't see us taking any talls

Gawn: Dees Ready for Success
Agree, I see a heading like that and no mater what content is in the article all I read is Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah. I know we need content on our website and we will see many over the next 4 months, hopefully come March April we can see something to be really excited about

Club lists finalised with further signings
Looks like the AFL is trying to encourage clubs to pick up more players that had been disadvantaged by not playing in 2020. The Rookie change yesterday, plus now the proposed change to mid Season draft will give the chance for players to train with clubs and hopefully get picked up.

Simon's pass mark for 2021?...
Getting the players to buy in on the team first mindset is the single biggest challenge this coaching group has. I've posted a few times that individually of midfielders are good players but as a midfield group they are extremely poor. Same as our forward group they just don't seem to work well together, I always found it frustrating for a lot of games our forward entries were long to about 25m out from goals but we never had any crumbers at the contest, if we know the ball is most likely going there this shouldn't happen, it does because everyone wants the ball. This is what I want to see team football, if we get this right the results will take care of themselves, if we don't our coaching group has failed

2020 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
The Jets program is one of the greatest failures of the U18 comp, dare to say they would have the least number of players drafted by a long. Cam Rayner, wasn't he No1 pick, if this guy is as good as Raynor how does he get to our first pick?

2020 Members Forum
Dont you think our club has been looking at this home base for long enough that we should have a shovel ready project. That is my concern we dont have a concrete plan just a wish list of sites.
-
2020 Members Forum
You will know the answer to question 1 once State budget is handed down today, if we are one of the few AFL clubs that don't receive any funding, the answer is nothing and our business case didn't stand up as nearly every other club is receiving money to upgrade facilities

2020 Contracts and List Details
I think the club will be watching the State league comps closely and get a player in Mid season draft when we remove KK off the list. Not a bad idea I'm sure there will be a number of players that will not be drafted due to the fact that no one saw them in 2020.

Pies into Petracca?
So we have Petracca to the Pies, Oliver to the Blues, Brayshaw to Freo, Jackson to WCE. Of course clubs will try to poach Petracca from us when his contract is up, he will be considered a top 1-3 player in the competition by then. It is up to the club and players to have success so good players don't leave

Punt Road redevelopment
This is why to me the only real option is staying at the oval we train at now, increase the size a little which is why we are talking a Docklands size oval not MCG and put the clubrooms/indoor Facities/offices over the outdoor carpark at AMMI park. The only other option is leave the precinct which I don't think the club will do.

Punt Road redevelopment
I reckon the State government is investing in all this AFL infrastructure as you will see a massive drop in new commercial real estate builds in the next few years. Occupancy rates will fall not only from business closures, the online shopping boom and working from home will become the new norm for a number of Victorians. The window is now and will be interested to see our plans, we either don't have any firm plans or we have them and just awaiting the right time to announce. To me I think we will be at the current ground with the building over the car park at AAMI park.

Punt Road redevelopment
Has to be something to do with The Reach foundation and youth. So that is every Victorian club except us and I Hawthorn but there will be funding for Dingley. You hope with the role change of the Footy Manager that something is in the pipeline.
-
Farewell Oscar McDonald
I think Oscar will get another opportunity at AFL level, someone will pick him up as a Delisted Free agent

Punt Road redevelopment
What you will see in all the press releases about these upgrades you need to do it in conjunction with something Female, Multi-cultural, Indigenous, other organisations(Pies I think are VIS, Essendon Para-Olympic). The issue we face in the precinct we are in Collingwood and Richmond have a lot of the community aspect covered. Be interesting if the locals kick up about the Richmond re-development as much as they did about our proposed site at the Yarra Park, I'm sure they will be looking for additional land to expand the oval and grand stands

Punt Road redevelopment
So far we have big tax payer money for Geelong, Footscray, North, Richmond, Carlton and Essendon. I really don't understand how the general community benefit of spending huge amounts of money on AFL teams. I get the financial impact AFL has on the Victorian Economy but State and Federal governments just throwing money at clubs isn't money well spent. St Kilda and Collingwood have had recent cash to upgrade their facilities I'm sure Hawthorn has received a good whack for Dingley, seems we are the only club that has missed out I hope we do have a good business case for a location as it seems all means of Government are pumping cash into AFL facilities.

TRADES, DELIST, PROMOTE
KK spot will be the one we hold for Mid season draft, I think someone mentioned that he can be removed off our list for this, similar to what Richmond did with Grigg to get Marlon Pickett I think Nietschke will be held onto as a rookie OMAC Delist Chandler Delist, cant see them keeping both Bedford and Chandler
