  1. The worse thing is the AFL will tighten up the law that is you go past the ball make head high contact that causes injury you will get 3 weeks, I bet the first player suspended by this new rule will be a Melbourne player, bit like Trengrove with dangerous tackle
  2. Do you expect anything less, just look how his reign at Collingwood ended.
  3. Everyone called it, we all expected him to get off at some stage, although I thought it would be at appeal or in court.
  4. Jack Martin must feel confident up next
  5. If he goes, any chance we can get Rattern back to gill his role
  6. Some of the reporting around this incident is just plain stupid. Deal with this action and get off the band stand about this will change to game. Each week in the AFL there are hundreds of body collisions, only a very small percentage cause injury and those ones need to be dealt with by the tribunal or mro. To say if Maynard gets weeks it will change the game, bring in high marks and other contacts into the discussion is just stupid. The AFL already has a couple of class actions pending for concussions. That is at AFL level, there will be the next wave of state league footballers, followed by local footballers all that at the time of playing would have had insurance policy through the relevant league appointed insurers. Changing our thinking on protecting the head is vital to ensure the game is a product that a company will continue to insure the participants. Deal with the incident at hand, he went past the ball, turned a smother into a bump hit a player high and knocked him out. What a shame as well, no matter what happens tonight everyone is talking an appeal, if the appeal fails for Collingwood we are hearing court action. Meanwhile you have a bloke not playing with a chance he may never play again.
  7. Yep, he doesn't want to be the no 1 ruckman in the VFL. He goes to Sydney is the No 1 ruck and good luck to him. Just give us a blinder on Friday night and help us beat the blues
  8. 22 is about right for Grundy, be nice if we could swap picks, maybe pick 11 and 22 for Grundy our first and MFC second round pick 36ish
  9. He didn't watch the spotlight interview last night on channel 7, if you don't protect heads at the top level what chance do you have at local and junior level
  10. Interesting night at the tribunal, a bloke that elected to bump and knocked a guy out, plus another that hit a bloke in the head. Both clubs will claim these are incidents that unfortunately happen in Footy, AFL will claim you hit them in the head with force and you had other options. I get the feeling Maynard decision will be appealled either way by Collingwood or the AFL
  11. Maybe I'm to old to understand the bump today, the old hip and shoulder.
  12. Hard, my first response was unlucky footy incident, but after seeing him turn to bump he has to be in trouble. If he didn't turn, I would agree footy accident but as soon as you elect to bump the onus is on you
  13. The Lawyer is already mapping out the appeal
  14. With this Bloke the club would have drafted him to be prime in 2 to 3 years. At the time of the draft we had picked up Grundy to add to Brown, Tmac, JVR then add in Smith, Petty, Fritsch, Melksham. He was picked along with Adams to be long term development projects not instant AFL ready players.
  15. In Grundy, Jordon, Spargo Out JVR, Brayshaw, Laurie Not much else you can do.
  16. The old depth chart doesn't look to good for mids. Outside the ones playing last night, Woey, Jordon, Harmes. Jordon most likely gone at years end, Harmes good chance as well, Dunstan gone. Leaving Woey jnr as the only mid not playing last night.
  17. Get GC pick 4, use pick 4 and 5 for a tall and a classy mid. Harmes, Tomlinson, Jordan and Grundy gone, McAdam comes in, bundle up picks to improve our draft positions.
  18. Hard, you go in throw him to the ground, umpires reverse the kick. You have to wait, kick the goal then like viney did go at him.
  19. How about we get some players that can hit a target. Our 2 best kicks play off half back in Salem and Bowey rarely put the ball inside 50. Langdon, Hunter, Viney, Oliver, Petracca, Gawn, Brayshaw all good players just aren't great kicks
  20. Correct, if Maynard didn't elect to turn his body and bump it would have been a down the field free kick and both players continuing on. The moment he turned his body he elected to bump, he had a choice, he choose to turn his body and hit Brayshaw with his shoulder flush in the head.
  21. Same story for a very long time, we are terrible by foot, add in the wet we just have no idea how to hit a target. So long bomb to a contest, numbers around the contest is our plan A. Collingwood just sat behind the ball and the sling shot, win the footy and sprint forward. It was a hard game to watch MFC just so bad by foot, 3 blokes jumping for same mark and for 3 qtrs the pies cleared to ball from our forward line with ease.
  22. Will be interesting, the pies stance will be he turned to protect himself, other he turned to bump. Either way he instigated the contact that was head high, high impact. Finals, past player heads up mro he will get off
  23. 3 shots on goal out on the full in the last. We lost due to player stupidity.
  24. A completely ineffective forward line v a very efficient forward line. We are cooked
  25. They want it more, the ball just comes straight out of our forwardline with no pressure
