  1. Plus Geelong get to do interesting things like charge visitors more than members for parking (maybe we should do that one, cheeky!) and charge people for a seat - your admission just gets you standing room. Plus they seat punters behind the goals and stick the cheer squad in the pocket. Not a very friendly ground to play at. Perhaps we should take a leaf out of their book and make visitors feel unwelcome from the moment they arrive.
  2. I like that idea - give all the mums a chockie or a flower or something! Or better yet, a voucher for a young strapping footy player to come and wash all those high windows we can't reach!! (ROFLMAO) 15000 max (but I will be there!! maybe 15001!)
  3. I thought he didn't look right at the Carlton match, not surprised he was withdrawn. I doubt it is his calf, but fair enough the club doesn't want to give away the true nature of his injury, because that will only make it a target on his return. Get well Jack. Fair dinkum I reckon we should take over a ward in Casey Hospital and put all our injured boys in it together!
  4. It's the fault of the aliens! They have been abducting our players and throwing off their game!!
  5. Waverley however, was very close to (what was known as) the Mulgrave Freeway (now called the Monash I believe) with an exit close by, so although public transport was very limited, freeway access was good. Unfortunately Casey Fields can't boast that. Waiting for a railway extension would be a case of don't hold your breath... While it is a good ground (a former Dee told me it was a fantastic playing surface) it has challenges that would need to be overcome first. Not the least being the need for more seating/shelter. There's not a lot, you get sunburnt in summer unless you get there early enough to grab one of the sweaty, sticky seats in the grandstand, or in winter there is not much shelter from the biting wind and rain. Whoever would pay for these facilities (Casey council or the Scorpions?) would probably want some assurances of future matches first. I think for NAB cup (that gets a lower turnout anyway) it is a great stadium, but for regular matches it really isn't enough. Plus you have to remember that a lot of people who would go to a game in the city (might rely on public transport or else live on the 'other side') would stay home and watch the match on telly if it was moved to Casey. So just because you might get 17000 people at a game at the G and lose money, you couldn't count on those 17000 turning up to Casey in order for the club to make a profit. I don't think the ground could cope with anywhere near that number of people, I certainly wouldn't want to be in the queue for the one exit to get out at the end of the match!
  6. I think the AFL has gone overboard with the clash strip anyway. It should only be used when two teams with similar colours play against each other. It should only be so that players and umpires don't get confused with the crush of bodies around a ball, who did what. When we play someone who has a completely different uniform, say Collingwood, we shouldn't be wearing it. The same goes for all the other teams. I like to see teams in their 'traditional' colours, not some silly thing they wear for every away game. Another stupid idea to chalk up to the AFL.
  7. It is such a shame that that wonderful talent is going to waste, and that he has lost the opportunity to get himself and his family out of what is clearly a toxic situation. Although I would love for the 'old' Liam Jurrah to be playing for us again, I would be happy to see him play for ANY team, just so that the wonderful talent we enjoyed so much was being used.
  8. Funny I should be reading this right now - they are talking about it on Footy Classified right this very second...
  9. Wow, no need to be rude, all you needed to do was to say you were of a different opinion to me.
  10. I wouldn't be surprised if Trengove isn't carrying an injury of some sort - he wasn't moving very freely today.
  11. Nothing will come out of that, if it had been golden boy Judd who was hurt it would have been career over for the offender, but since it was only a Dee who got hurt....
  12. While leadership shows no passion as they have been doing, this will continue. Could you imagine anyone talking about Eddie's boys the way they do about ours? He would give them a serve or five if they did. I hope things change 'at the top' and someone comes out with their bat swinging for Melbourne. Until we do, we will continue to be a target for lazy commentators who can't think up anything decent to talk about.
  13. Wow, I thought I had naughty thoughts but you guys beat me hands down!!
  14. Now, can I share a big secret? One of Carlton's stars (not naming names) has just moved in down the road from me. Should I sneak over on Sunday morning and superglue the driver's door on his car shut so he is late for the game? Or maybe distract him and quickly tie his shoelaces together and hopefully it takes him a while to work out what the problem is? Not something I would really do, but it did cross my mind (naughty naughty thoughts sometimes do)
  15. I never blamed him for going, after all, it is a job and he was offered a lot of money. He would have been crazy not to go. However it was the WAY he left that made me angry, and that rotten side of me is happy to see him not do well (up yours Sheedy!)
  16. Have to agree with you about Eddie Everywhere. He is a brilliant ambassador for his club, and a genuine supporter of his supporters. I have personal experience of his willingness to take time out of his day to make a supporter's day. All that aside, why would you NOT want a president who comes out, "guns blazing" so to speak in defence of himself, his players, his club. This isn't the first time he has had plenty to say. I would be happy to see someone with such a passion for the club as the public face of our club. We used to have someone amazing in the form of Stynes, but when he had to step aside we went from having a passionate leader to a wishy washy one. I would be happy to have someone like Eddie at our club, and I agree with everything he had to say about the bitter vitriol that is every word that spills out of Caro's mouth, or her keyboard. Keep it up Eddie, it is refreshing to hear someone speak with passion.
  17. One of the first rules of journalism is CONFIRM THE STORY - you don't print RUMOURS. Back to journalism school for you Caro - in the meantime, how about a REAL journalist take her spot (and abolish that stupid Caro's Arrow segment - it's just an excuse for her to have a whinge about whatever is upsetting her - she should be reporting on the facts, not trying to BE the story).
  18. Interesting viewing. Particularly the supplier who claimed to have been in discussion with a club OTHER than MELBOURNE or ESSENDON. According to the report, illegal drugs were openly discussed. Oops. More work for you Vlad.
  19. I think he must have had a headache after seeing some of the crunches he was in! The guy must have a head almost as hard as Nathan Jones'!
  20. Yes, I know the feeling - my D train is my little blue car covered in Dees stickers. With Dees licence plates. No hiding for me! Sounds like the train was fun - pity the club can't organise some for other areas, I am sure more members would enjoy the experience. I wonder if such trains would encourage more people to turn up?
  21. You could have a point there - there was WAY too much interference with the game yesterday, and some really puzzling decisions. But then, while we are playing badly, we will get the crummy umpires. The good ones will be used in the 'games that matter'. Once we consistently play better, we will get better umpires! (Don't hold your breath though).
  22. Does anyone else think that three in one game is too much? If a goal umpire can't make a decision, what are they being paid for? Maybe I am being too harsh, maybe just shirty because all three decisions went against us, but honestly - three in one game? Is Chelsea perhaps enjoying the publicity of being the only female umpire too much and hamming it up? What do other posters think?
