  1. Since seeing this idea posted on another thread here, I have been posting it everywhere I can think of, and apparently the HS newsdesk are aware of it now. So, everyone wear one to the game this week, because there will be people watching! I will be taking some black duct tape to the game this week, and trying to get people to wear it. If everyone did the same, we might get some attention. Although, as the jacket I wear to the footy is dark blue (well, duh of course it is!), the black might not stand out, so I need to work out what to do about this. I have pushed it on the Free Demon Jack webpage, where there are supporters of other clubs involved, and hopefully some of the more fired up ones will do the same, but I would say that all the attention will be at our game.
  2. Well, I guess I am not the only one who came to the same conclusion: (From AFL live chat during the tribunal hearing). Adam McNicol: Galbally says Dangerfield was not concussed. "He had symptoms of concussion". As Dangerfield is clear to play only 6 days after a 'severe concussion' when the AFL has said a player should not play the next week after suffering a concussion, what conclusion is to be drawn. Either Dangerfield never had a concussion to start with, or the Adelaide Crows and the AFL are breaching both their duty of care to him and the AFL's own dictates as to what is and is not safe behaviour. Either way, someone is doing 'the wrong thing' and getting away with it..... Did you see Jonathan Brown on the footy show? A man who has lost 8 weeks because of what must have been a very painful injury said that 'accidents happen' and said that Trengove was very unlucky.
  3. Apparently Adelaide attempted to submit a medical report to the tribunal tonight, which our "friend" Tinney argued against accepting, which stated that the first report was wrong, that Dangerfield was not actually concussed, only showing the 'symptoms' of concussion. (When is a concussion not a concussion? When common sense tells Adelaide that their spite has had unitended consequences - now ALL players are exposed to suspension if an accident happens). So it seems to me that Adelaide submitted a false report to the original hearing, as apparently their doctor did not make a correct diagnosis. As this report was the basis for the hearing, the result is questionable in its entirety and the decision should have been withdrawn by the AFL. Why does Adelaide not get a 'please explain' for submitting a false report to the MRP? This whole thing stinks of corruption and malpractice. It seems to me that the situation arose from a combination of sour SA grapes by a bunch of sore losers + the AFL really wanted to make an example of someone and weren't prepared to wait for a legitimate 'bad' tackle to come along, so pounced on the first opportunity presented, no matter how spurious the charge was. And don't even get me started on that rubbish about the home team having a higher duty of care - what happens when co-tenants play each other?
  4. How about our 18 players and their 18 players have a fingerpainting contest? Wait - those papercuts can hurt!
  5. WOO HOO! That makes at least two of us! I guess a trip to Bunnings is on the cards for me tomorrow!
  6. Who is going to the game on Saturday? Who will put on a black arm band with me? I have just been informed that the HS news desk is aware of this (I reposted it on the Free Demon Jack page), so hopefully we will get some coverage. Who is game for a grass roots demonstration of our disquiet with this decision?
  7. I really like this idea! But for the black arm bands to be effective, you would need people to know what they are for - anyone got any media contacts? I will bring the black duct tape!
  8. I can imagine the Gold Coast players this week parting like the Red Sea when Dangerfield gets the ball - all afraid to tackle him in case he takes a dive! A good way to resurrect your career as a professional fall guy!
  9. Sorry, but I have to disagree. The only way to get a stupid rule changed is to challenge it, sometimes the best way to challenge it is to obey it. If all players stop tackling, the AFL might see how ridiculous and wrong this rule is and change it. If we all go along pretending like nothing has happened, then nothing will change.
  10. Wow, the Tribunal took 6 minutes to make their decision - that is SO much more fair than the 4 minutes the MRP took! I bet Trengove is feeling so good that it took a bunch of morons a combined 10 minutes to decide his fate!
  11. Well the AFL has set the precedent now. All losing teams should have a massive dummy spit and file doctor's reports for all their players who were injured during the course of play, whether accidentally or not. The AFL has accepted an argument that the home team has a duty of care not to hurt anyone from the away team. I hope we and all other teams follow the course of conduct established by the Adelaide sooks and go whining to Vlad. Seeing as we have two away games coming up - I hope the Roos and the Saints wrap our boys in cotton wool before tackling them, or we might get hurt and go sooking to mummy about it!
  12. Tinney is at it again - wants the second doctor's report to not be accepted - said the first one said there was concussion. So the evidence should be picked through and only that evidence which supports your case should be accepted by the tribunal, and all other evidence should be thrown out? Sounds like someone is grasping at straws and knows it.
  13. Was the hearing fair? It doesn't appear so. Is the appeal open and accountable? The media have been banned from twittering during the hearing - is the AFL afraid that the public might be disquieted from what is being said? There is no reason that this hearing should be closed in this manner - it is worrying that it is.
  14. I was there - that's all that matters!
  15. How about we all wear belts with arrows - the one pointing up says "Too High" the one pointing to the groin says "No go area". We can then wear thigh high socks that say "No tripping allowed" and paint a target on our buttocks with the words "ok to tackle here and only here". We can offer the Kangaroos full body bumper jackets so that our players just bounce off if they try to tackle, with obligatory helmets. Although, since we are at Etihad, and it isn't our home ground, if someone gets hurt we aren't responsible are we?
  16. Judd would never even be reported - he is untouchable. I bet if he had come to Melbourne he would have been scrutinised though!
  17. Trengrove grabbed Dangerfield around the waist - apparently that is the new 'too high'. If you grab around the legs, it is tripping. Next week expect to see players grabbing each others buttocks - because that's about the only area left available for tackling now! How is Jeff White's face not high? Colin Sylvia's jaw? Has the AFL really thought this one through?
  18. I guess his email box will be full tomorrow morning! My 2c is there! :) :) :)
  19. He could have accepted two weeks, that was his 'discount'. Oh well, Crows have the last laugh. They played like garbage, but get a giggle over causing this. Next time one of our players gets hurt, I hope we kick up a stink and cause the MRP to have a hearing. All 17 teams should - then the system would become so unworkable, it would fall over. It's called 'civil obedience' - insisting on the enforcement of your rights by a system that isn't capable of enforcing everyones! Watch out North - you had better not sneeze on any of our players and give them a cold - or it's the tribunal for you!!!!
  20. Can we request a retrospective hearing for Sylvia's jaw and White's face? After all, if the starting point is the injury and then we start looking for blame, I think those guys have a good gripe!
  21. I have to agree with you there - apparently it is ok for Adelaide players to trip Melbourne players in front of the umpire, because red and blue = invisibile. Just like our boys weren't getting pulled off the ball all day, and Crows weren't gifted four of their eight goals. I even saw one of the spectators run to the barrier and offer the umpire his OPSM cut out spectacles - if it wasn't so sad it would have been funny!
