  1. I heard them too, and it was disappointing, but it always seems to happen. Every time an ex-player turns up the morons boo him. I would only expect that kind of behaviour from the crowd if a player not only chose to leave us, but bagged us as he went. Then it would be fair enough for people to express their displeasure. But people have tiny minds and choose to behave negatively whenever they have a choice. Unfortunately, our supporters are no different from anyone else.
  2. Round 8, 1998 - Melbourne V Collingwood - on right now. Just watched Ooze kick a goal. Stynes is in the ruck, lots of 'old names' running around like McDonald, White, Schwarz, Feebey etc... A little bit of nostalgia - don't you just miss crying out OOOOOOOZE when he gets the ball?
  3. Poor kid - when the MRP start applying the rules consistently and fairly he might feel that maybe he did the wrong thing, until then, he is justified to feel a bit paranoid.
  4. It will be better for everyone if the media just stop reporting any of this. So a teenager lies? That's news? I am so sick of it all and I refuse to watch any show that pays this silly girl money to peddle her lies (it really doesn't matter what is the truth and what is a lie anymore - you can't believe anything she says, so who cares)? Please please please move on to REAL news!
  5. OMG - I read that and almost wet myself laughing!!!!!! I've never heard that one before and must remember it to tell EVERYONE. :)
  6. Once upon a time there was a ground at a faraway land called Waverley, and people would go on a weeknight because it wasn't too far away. Then the big bad evil ogre stopped people going to the land of Waverley, and said that everyone had to travel into the crowded metropolis, and find a place to park their carriage, or else use the public cattle transports. People no longer went to weeknight games, because it all got too hard. Seriously, not everyone lives in the city, or within cooee of the city, and it is a bit of an effort to get all the way into the G or to windy city, and to get home again. If it is a Friday or Saturday night game, most of us don't have to get up too early the next day, so we do it. Obviously Saturday afternoon is still the best, but Sunday afternoon is manageable too. Twilight games on a Sunday are a pain in the butt, because you have to get up early the next day. Who wants to make the trip into the 'city' on a working night? Fight traffic going in, or take the train and face a really long trip home (and therefore a really late night) after the footy is over. As much as I would like to go, I couldn't do it. Lots of others couldn't either. We always get a good turnout to this game anyway, and I think this year there will be lots of Pie supporters prepared to give us their money, so I think it will be a really good crowd. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
  7. To be honest, I only have Tarrant at the moment - I could pick him - any help we get will be greatly appreciated
  8. I have come up with the following theory: A) If I pick a player as my Supercoach captain, based on my performance to date he has about a 75% chance of injury during the match, most likely in the first quarter; B) I really want to win against the Pies; C) Therefore I should pick a Pie as my captain this week. PS, I really want to win against the Pies.
  9. A pity the commentary tonight kept focusing on how tall he is or isn't - it got a bit repetitive after about the second time! To someone 'hobbit sized' like me - tall is tall is tall. The point is that he can play (which he clearly can), not whether he is or isn't as tall as the club says. Who cares?
  10. Maybe I had better 'uncaptain' him, just to make sure!
  11. Well I hope you have applied for a job on the psychic hotline, cos you predicted the win (although your margin was a bit on the cheap side wasn't it?) Har de har har har (as I said to my Essendon work colleague when he said they would smash us tonight). Now - I would REALLY like to beat the Pies next week, because their fans really annoy me (as does Mick Malthouse).
  12. What ever happened to the Rivers Fan Club? You know - that bunch of guys who would show up to every match wearing T Shirts spelling out his name? I haven't seen them for a couple of years, and I did enjoy looking for them at each game - one of those bizarro things that adds to the experience really.
  13. As if we need to lose Colin now, after the year he has been having. I must admit, it is all my fault. Tonight just before the lock out, I rearranged my supercoach team and nominated Colin as my captain (based on his average score this year, I thought it was a good move!). So now he is out, and I must confess to being the guilty party. Kind of like hanging out a full load of washing and then it rains, eh?
  14. I know I know, just practicing for a stand up routine! Honestly, sometimes it was like keystone cops - a player takes a hardish mark, and instead of steadying and kicking the ball on, he looks for the teammate most underpressure and handballs to him. Cue the Benny Hill music! I am a bit funny you know - I think if a game is called FOOTBALL that at some stage the ball should make contact with the foot and not the hand. But that's just me!
  15. The game plan is to handball around the wings. That will win games (not). Does anyone remember the Adelaide game like me? That we kicked the bloody ball straight down the middle? And smashed our opposition team by 96 points? What's wrong with that plan?
  16. Positive comments - I have plenty: Considering Carlton's position on the ladder, and then ours, I think we did ok. They SHOULD have wiped the floor with us, but didn't. Take away those two free goals awarded by their friends in green, and we didn't do anywhere near as bad as many people thought we would; As far as I know, no-one got injured; Sylvia just keeps improving - with some of our better players due to return in a couple of weeks, he should be better with some support; Sometimes we did actually kick the ball instead of just handballing; Jimmy did us proud - where he gets the energy from I don't know, but he is only to be admired for not only having the energy and will to show up, but putting on a performance too; I had such a crap couple of days, it was just good to go to the footy. :)
  17. MFC website is saying there are horns available (at gate 3 or 4? - check the website for correct details) - for $2. So if you want more - there you go. Also giving away some free to kids who get there early.
  18. Unfortunately as Livvy is a Carlton fan I think not. I hope they turn the lights out during the song - so we get the 'flashing' effect of the horns!
  19. I always wear horns, and never feel silly. It's all for fun. It will be good to have company this week!
  20. Aussie is out unfortunately, a shame as he is always fun to watch
  21. Good work, just a pity that those in their ivory towers will not pay any attention to popular sentiment.
