The problem I have with this part of your post is your failure to identify any form of foundation the melbourne football club has in place. May i suggest you read the thread created by Dappa Dan with regard to 'sound foundation' or have a look at our backline which is taking shape.

Wow, big jump from the Queens Birthday clash. Good to see. Go Dees!! Saints are 31,930. I think they've got us covered for 2009.

"JoooooKKKAAAA!!" That could stick!

Neither do I for that matter. Developing a relationship with our VFL affiliate Casey and it's community is a long term strategy which will help strengthen our roots with something the club quite really hasn't had. A huge growth area which will encourage new members/supporter base. As Jimmy has stated it's like a Home campus. Training there can only be of benefit to the relationship and the better development of the Mfc players with state of the art facilities. The MCG is our ground. Realigning ourselves with the MCC/MFC relationship strengthens our club. Training at the Junction Oval - part time is a necessity for the interim as the club embarks on these changes. New administration home at the Bubble Dome precinct from what I gather is a short term solution for offices until Southern Stand reconstructions take place. Someone else might want to confirm this; unless the goal posts have shifted. The clubs desire to seek community involvement and games in Darwin for financial gain as well as the connection to the NT through a number of our Indigenous players shows good initiative in my opinion.

That felt good. It certainly knocked the wind out of Maxwell. It's a pity we were behind on the scoreboard when it happened. If we were in front I'm sure there would have been a roar. -
Sums you up to a tee really.

Well, yes Cricket is about Test Match Cricket, if you listen to the scribes and those that love a Test. Much like me. And yes, the Ashes are very important. However, there are different forms of the game now. One Day and 20/20 have their own supporters and followers. Nations have players who suit different forms of the game. I agree with Monty in that it's a bit of a disgrace and it's a shambles in that the selectors ignore certain players that suit formats such as the 20/20. And some don't suit the 20/20 format. ie. IMO: - Brett Lee is not a 20/20 bowler. Brad Hodge suits the 20/20 format. Dirk Nannes suits the 20/20 format.

For the record I'm not saying at the end of this year, I'm saying mid next year after seeing the progress made Rounds 1-10, 2010.
-
Much like that Tolmane kid (19yo) for the Storm, who just recently signed for the Titans next year. Yet plays with the Storm for the rest of this year.
-
Why after the 3 years are up? I think we'd all agree to prefer to see how we have progressed after the first month of football next year fwiw. Ok. Hypothetical. Say the Dees are 5 and 6 after Queens B'day next year...........any chance of an extension at the halfway mark in 2010? Even though the list has undertaken recruitments, culling, retirements it still leaves a very young (even younger) list that is still in development mode. It will still be in that mode early 2010. Do you agree CB?

So which part of my post on Rivers was "rubbish"?
-
Any chance you're looking at perhaps a "Dreamtime" game initiative with the Dees v Dons in Darwin? Wow. A Maggie supporter yelling out "Go Dees" at the footy - did that take place at the Queens B'day v Collingwood? If so, that is nothing short of a "fu#%in miracle." Or when he's standing on the back of Prestigiacomo next Queens Birthday taking a Mark Of the Year contender.....JJUUURRRAAHHH!! How about just, Jurrah?
-
Early to Midseason 2010 is my tip. May the next Queens Birthday v Collingwood be our "line in the sand" game.
-
<_< Still waiting..... What experience was that I ask? What does that have to do with a coaching extension to a contract in Bailey's case?

You figured it out. Well done. I think Brad Green would want Round 12 to come around pretty quick. He's been good overall, but Monday was very average. Ah.......no. PS. It wasn't alcohol. Shhh. (for the record, just a toast to someone who seems to now know that the penny has dropped...) <fingers crossed. Good comment. Agree. -
Thanks RudeBoy, once again. I think you might be right with your prediction. I also think he's very close to his first game and I can't wait for him to debut in the Red & Blue!
-
He's a back who spoils and contests in the air, that's his job. If he's keeping his opponent to minimum disposals/goals he is doing his job. The year he won the NAB Rising Star he was a bean pole and he was third man up; helping his teammates reading the play; dropping into space when the ball was bombed long. The game plans have since changed.
-
Agree, but it's not 'everyone' Mr.Morton. However, there are quite a few. It's amazing what a thumping by the opposition will highlight.
-
Correct. How some cannot understand this astounds me.

A comparison: - Sylvia v Davey Just did a quick calculation. Prior to D'lands update, by my calculations there were 14 (completed) x 6 votes for Sylvia. 84 votes. Aaron Davey was voted for 6 times out of those 14 voters. (4,3,1,1,2,2 = 13 votes). From the Round 10 update: C.Sylvia went up by 8.571 points A.Davey went up by 2.381 points

Now that Ryder is cleared. I think Essendon may just get over the top a dee-termined Dees outfit, who are absolutely seething with their opening quarter against the filth.
-
In other news: Patty Ryder cleared. They have a ruckman to take on the Dees! hooray.

Good point here. Of course the occassional mental crash will happen along the way as it does with most rebuilding sides, even the ones with the odd scatter of champion-level players. Happened with Hawthorn in Clarkson's early days. Posters need to acknowledge this. Although, back to the topic, do we have a sound enough foundation to build on? IMO the base of the foundations are in place (starting with our backs), we just need a couple more 'needs', and along with what you have described for "this time round....(ie. facilities, etc)".....you're right, it should give them the best chance possible.

TBH i have been in Sylvia's corner. I am also of the opinion that the last 5 years have not been a complete waste. There have been some good games despite the inconsistency and frustration. To say he has done nothing since his debut until this season is incorrect and ignorant. He provides the X factor for the team and finishes very well on the run and kicks with precision within the midfield with good efficiency, and helps straighten the side up. One clear example of this from a number of examples from Sylvia on the weekend, was his long penetrating kick within the corridor into the forward 50 to a one on one contest, where Bruce marked. Quick transition for the benefit of our forwards. Unfortunately Bruce didn't goal - but that's another story. edited.

That is not what Mick said in his post match conference. Interesting. He said Anthony still has an important role to play once up and running in the seniors.
