To those of you bagging Jared Rivers of late, regarding trade bait at the end of this year. In particular Brockstars5. "In 2012 our backline could be Martin, Frawley, Garland, Strauss, Grimes & Bennell, plus Rivers will still only be 27." - Connolly. Whilst it doesn't confirm anything, it suggests that Rivers could well be part of the backline picture, come 2012.

I thought very much the same. We're spoilt today in coverage. Love the AGE. Great articles there....isn't that right Rogue Also DangerousDemon, be careful in accusing posters who have bagged players such as Sylvia who haven't bagged them. Just make sure you get your facts right before you do post a few home truths next time!

Is Valenti your love child CB? Gee, the ruck will be interesting without Jamar. Patty Ryder..hmmm. I'm salivating at our forward line of Green, Sylvia & Jurrah. What about our interchange bench?! How good is the bench - Moloney, Watts, Morton & Cheney edit: All in all 6 changes. Grimes starting in the centre!

Cheers mate. Typo. Also now have the answers for Jolly & Gaff. I've added in Matera from WA and Ben Cunnington from Vic Country who is apparently ferocious around stoppages. now edited: - Here is an idea on who is eligible for the 2009 DRAFT from cooko's leaderboard so far at the halfway mark of the U/18 Champs - I can't yet confirm for Jolly (SA) or Gaff (Vic Metro) whether they are eligible for this years DRAFT. Anyone else ? Leader Board - how many times mentioned in best.... BEST Swallow (WA) 3 - eligible 2010 DRAFT Trengove (SA) 3 - eligible 2009 DRAFT Carey (SA) 3 - eligible 2009 DRAFT Jolly (SA) 3 - eligible for Gold Coast to select; otherwise eligible for 2010 Draft if not picked up Panos (SA) 3 - eligible 2009 DRAFT Hooper (Vic Country) 3 - eligible 2009 DRAFT Toy (Vic Metro) 3 - eligible for the Gold Coast to select; otherwise eligible for 2010 Draft if not picked up Gaff (Vic Metro) 3 - eligible 2010 DRAFT Scully (Vic Metro) 2 - eligible 2009 DRAFT Butcher (Vic Country) 2 - eligible 2009 DRAFT Morabito (WA) 2 - eligible 2009 DRAFT Cunnington (Vic Country) 2 - eligible 2009 DRAFT Another which has caught the eye: - Brandon Matera (WA) 1 - eligible for Gold Coast to select; otherwise eligible for 2010 Draft if not picked up.

With the excitement of Jurrah's debut, it really is ideal with the focus off Jack now for him to sit back and focus on the tasks at hand and not be sidetracked with interviews and a massive build up like the QB game. In many ways last game he was the 'hunted', this week he's the 'hunter'....if you know what I mean...
-
Reported on SEN - Bailey spoke of Jack being down on himself after the Queens Birthday debut against Collingwood. Wasn't happy with his game. Keep an eye out for No.4 against Essendon....

This story has cinema potential all over it.

Good post S_T. Good signs of maturity....finally.

So am I. Thanks for being so positive . I can understand how you would have interpreted it re: PSD. And even this year for that matter. I put it up for those to take notice of where we are headed in the future. (Not that they'd be reading it anyway). The excitement that is building within the club. With that comes an attractive proposition - maybe not at the end of this season; but thereafter. Neither do I. Deledio is a Best & fairest too.

Crikey. Good work cooko.

Well they've got one. Although the AFL most likely don't like it against Melbourne. Melbourne will wear their clash strip tonight. There is no reason at all why Essendon cannot follow suit for an alternative guernsey when played away against Melbourne.....it's up to the AFL to deliver or enforce this. The AFL should have 17 whipping boys, not 15.

From Flanagan's article: - And so tomorrow night Jurrah will play for the Melbourne Football Club. The timing, according to Davey, couldn't be better. It's one of the few times this year the Dees have been the subject of a national telecast on free-to-air TV. Out in the desert, they'll be watching. Indeed! They'll be swarming to the nearest vision of the game to see Liam.

There is a good establishment adjacent or accross the road (intersection) to the steps leading up to Etihad. They've got some tv screens, bar and meals area. Nice & warm there too. Last time I went there was StK v Melb - remember our awful clash strip game wehn Robbo did his achilles. Can't recall the name of it though. It's got a good Meals Menu though. Short walk. Ideal. Enjoy.

I would like to see the AFL fixture a Melbourne home game against Essendon at the MCG next year.............. . Come on Vlad & Ando. I dare you.

I'm not saying you questioned Bailey's appointment, it's the way you come accross in some of your posts. When Bailey took over it was plain to see our list was shot. We've been through it many-a-times in many threads. It was an ageing list and our old blue chips I call them were at their end. ND had got the best out of them and they were finished. The writing was on the wall for a rebuild to take place. There is no evidence to suggest that he isn't a good tactician or motivator either. But from what I've seen this year in regards to improved efforts out on the field and 'competitiveness' - sometimes differences in quarter to quarter performance it may suggest that he might just be good tactician and motivator with such a young developing list. Mo, Take note of what It's a Nightmare has posted: - (Of which I totally agree) I agree, and this takes time & patience. You're better than that Mo. How do you know if at all it will become redundant? For all we know Bailey & Co. may be developing their own unique gameplan around forwards in Watts & Jurrah etc, that we aren't privvy to. With Key posts still to be filled and recruits yet to be even drafted and developed all this gameplan not working talk is absolute hogwash, for it probably hasn't even come to fruition IMO, although we are seeing signs of it when the ball comes out of the backline (when there is no turnovers). Correct.

Looking at the greater picture of where Melbournefc is at right now. The message by Stynes & Co from the outset at this time last year to members was expect short term pain as they rebuild Melbourne as a force again. At the conclusion of 2008 season Stynes warned fans to expect further pain as the club continued in the rebuilding phase for 2009. As evidenced by the clubs drafting in 2008 & the turnover of the list. Its fast tracking success. Being 1-11, playing young draftees - its part of the process.

Really pleased for Liam and yourself RudeBoy. I cannot wait. I also have my fingers crossed for him and i am sure Liam will enjoy it.. Two number one picks - I hope we are all in for one hell of a ride from here on in.
