  1. Wow! This changes the coaching landscape.....as Bill Lawry would say...."it's all happening........"
  2. "Good call" titan!!
  3. This has been mooted previously on these forum boards, throwing Garland forward. You are right about his junior days. Definitely an option for Bailey next year. With Watts and perhaps Jurrah? You could have a good mix.
  4. Good post. I agree with your view on Jurrah being picked up on his football ability, which is what I said for players around that height - 190-192cm. I think we might have something special in Jurrah. But let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet.
  5. You can bet your bottom dollar, Freak provides the entertainment in spades.......
  6. Fair enough then. So you agree, he 'could' be considered next year for the leadership group, based on the achieved requirements (ie. outlined in the opening post - or even as you put it.... strung some good games together and has the respect and trust of their teammates )? PS. "Come back to us in a couple of years H_T."
  7. I know it's early, but the dawn of the new era is about preparation for the club. Norm Smith wore No.4. The club put aside No.4 for the Number 1 draft pick in none other than Jack Watts. What numbers are currently available, or vacant? What possible tradition could the club possibly use - IF we were unfortunately given the number 1 draft pick for somehow finishing 16th? Is there another legend, good feel story or a past great that could pass on a famous number? There is Ronald Dale Barassi. However No.31 is taken by Paul Wheatley...... There's Jim Stynes. However No.11 is taken by Paul Johnson........ There is Steven Febey. However No.21 is taken by Daniel Bell........ There is Robert Flower. However No.2 is taken by Nathan Jones.......... What are some of the possibilities? 9? 13?...?
  8. So which is it Einstein? Is it the players fault and the main reason we are in this mess, or is it Daniher leaving a team full of grandpa's that left us in this mess?
  9. Lynden Dunn Height: 192cm Games Played: 45 Goals: 32 Ave: 0.71 goals/game. *source = Record.
  10. Yes. Good call Caro.
  11. *BUMP* - Footy Classified about to talk about if the Demons deserve the Queens Birthday fixture....on shortly.
  12. No. We wear our traditional Red & blue. Let the AFL cop the criticism and Essendon for not designing a suitable clash jumper v Melbourne; StKilda. This is what the AFL are trying to avoid.
  13. Good point. Overlooked by many. NOTE: - Maybe Mike Sheahan, Damien Barrett & Co. could highlight this in their next articles.
  14. Yes. We don't have any of these instinctive midfielders who tear away from a contest, although Sylvia's been ok of late. They are a rare commodity within the AFL. A must for a team of Premiership aspirants.
  15. No. Coaches want effective disposals carried out by members of their team and/or in their game/game plan. Ineffective disposals or otherwise categorised as Critical Errors or Clangers are not wanted, or at the very least want to be kept to a minimum. Yes, they both fall under 'Disposals' as the more general term. However, Effective ones are the more "Important." End of lesson. Most likely didn't get picked up because another draftee was either preferred and bought more to the table for the particular club(s) or Kelleher didn't meet their needs in terms of quality or complete package. Or by the end of the draft all the places on their lists were full. If he was something of special quality he may have well got picked up in the draft Freak, regardless of height being 189cm..
  16. Empowering the players through the leadership group is a good system. But IMO, only if those within the group provide leadership - good leadership and that they contribute to the cause through their actions on & off the field.
  17. Something to look forward to....bit of grit & determination if he's a chip off the ol' block.
  18. That's what i was thinking. Wearing the red against Essendon would be a clash in the eyes of the AFL one would assume, given their track record on demands for clubs.
  19. You're quite right. In addition to that, they're just not efficient and quick thinking enough compared to the better midfields in the opposition - not just with the 'pill', but when their teammate has the 'pill'. Daniel Jackson (of Richmond) revealed in the AGE that prior to Saturday nights game against West Coast, Ben Cousins spoke to the players and it was his opinion there was not enough of helping out teammates in blocking, shepherding, etc around the stoppages. I guess Melbourne should take note and take this on board as well.
  20. Once again Incorrect. Effective disposals or Disposal Efficiency are one of the most important aspect of todays game. You are both ignorant and naive to think that any player that is 191-192cm in height is mediocre. Enforcer 25 has put the spotlight squarely on your lack of football knowledge even after being presented with facts with regard to height. But that wasn't the least bit surprising I guess.
  21. Sure is one of the few candidates that is standing up on the field. Brad Green, Brent Moloney are two others.
  22. I'm amazed Newton hasn't been thrown up..... PS. Sorry...I was in the mood.
  23. Agree, we need a blue chip star. Or 2.
  24. But if they have a mole on their left butt cheek, you can pick them up, yeh!?
