problem with Davey being a sub is that the first time he plays a great game as a sub everyone would argue he should be full-time Same will apply to any player. Lets face it the sub is not in best 21 so don't expect too much from a sub, whose prime role is of insurance against injury. If he can play an impact role given the right circumstances then that is just a bonus. I don't think there s anything such as grooming a sub. Its more a question of picking best 21 then assessing who would make best sub and I would guess it would be someone who is versatile in the roles they can play and who is a reasonable accumulator. BTW, Davey back into the forward line (with occasional short stints elsewhere)
