  1. Bail to play - it's the vibe, you know
  2. What a joke - the one club we have a major clash with - AFL credibility nil Lets hope the bummers at least wear white shorts
  3. Nah, like you said - no hope. Still like your red design - at least its "truer" and unique from all the other club's white versions which all look the same from a distance
  4. Redleg, may as well use your namesake on the socks too, Then I'll vote for this (with red or white shorts)
  5. Thanks Belzebub, agree with you. Redleg mentioned previously a clash with WC, and why did the Bullies wear their clash jumper against us this year (I just checked on youtube)? Also checked the famous 87 game against the bullies where both teams wore traditional gear and it didn't clash for me. Really curious to see what the bummers turn up with on Sunday. Black/Red vs Navy/Red has to be a clash no matter how wide the sash. We should try and do a deal with the AFL that when we play any GF at the G we get to wear our tradtional gear because it's OUR ground FTROT Cheers
  6. Hey Redleg, Do you have a list of the clubs the AFL say we clash with that you could publish here?
  7. Understand what you are saying belzebub, but the question is how much white. Do the AFL stipulate a percentage? I don'y think so. Seems we just go around in the dark as there are NO AFL published specifications (other than bend over) AFL claim it is to avoid visual confusion andhave a better looking spectacle for TV Funny how cricket (and TV execs) decided that white was too boring and bland for TV wrt 50over and 20/20. It's not just Melb, all the other team white strips look awful (with the possible exception of Bulldogs as its part of their colors anyway) Anyway, I'll probably just slash my wrists and be done with it.
  8. Something like this example, excuse the bad graphics Not necessarily both options, but both shown just as an example
  9. Redleg, If we must have predominately white, one of the things I dislike is the sheer amount of white - watching the team come out looks like a bunch of pommies hitting the beach. So, here is a couple of ideas to "minimise" the whiteness. I don't know where the AFL draw the line. 1. Have colored shorts e.g. navy shorts 2. Add more color to the back of the jumper (have a look at bulldogs jumper back) I'll put up an example shortly overlaying your preferred strip
  10. How about the "Cam Bruce Clash Jumper"
  11. A little bit off topic, but according to club twitter we WILL be wearing our traditional strip this weekend against the bummers. Does anyone know what the bummers will be wearing? If it's that wider red sash one, that would hardly reduce the clash. This whole clash inconsistency does my head in.
  12. Old Dee, you don't offend me . . . . . its just a POV OK I gave my justification for trying different shades of red and/or blue. Read my previous posts. You are probably right . . . . it just won't happen . . but I still won't like it. Don't worry though, I won't lose any sleep over it (well, not too much). I give Redleg credit for trying to make the most out of something he doesn't like either. Nothing wrong with trying to tossup some other ideas . . . it's never over until the fat lady sings. Cheers ("we are the red and the blue")
  13. But do you think we would need a clash jumper against GC? I haven't really seen GC's final jumper. That previous blue was a fairly "electric" blue which would be very easy to pickup and look good on TV. After NM's effort I wouldn't like the blue to get too pale! Maybe something like "Palace Blue" PANTONE 18-4043 ??? BTW is there an official list of clubs that the AFL deem we clash with?
  14. Try that one with navy blue strips on sides and shorts
  15. Not bad, I could live with that Dunno whether AFL would consider it a clash with WC? They do have some strange ideas on clashes. Unfortunately the AFL don't publish guidlines on clash definitions (as we all know)
  16. Thanks, It's at least a good start. I think it's better than the white options. Maybe it'll get people's creative juices going in a different direction Let's see where it leads us, can't do any harm experimenting with different approaches I know what I like/dislike but my design skills are !#ss weak
  17. Well, I still think you should add a final option of "none of the above" (please) I do understand what you are trying to do, and I have read all the posts. With respect to the royal blue. Reread my original post. I was NOT necessarily proposing it, just giving an example. I was just suggesting that using different shades of red and/or blue, MIGHT be better than white, and MIGHT be a way of reducing clashes, and MIGHT be a different approach to the problem. Just trying to use a bit of lateral thinking, we're not necessarily on different pages!
  18. So, Its your way, or no-way? And I'm a twit to boot! You have'nt changed. I think there is a lot of people who cringe at the white. I don't accept it's a fait accompli with respect to the AFL. I just beleive that there's got to be a better design option without reverting to white At the end of the day it's just an opinion, but thanks for your advice.
  19. I think you should add "option 5 - None of the above" if you want to get a representative view. Personally, I could never vote for a white-based jumper, they are all just appalling. I know we are being backed into a corner on this. So what, I think we should keep applying pressure for a red and blue variant. One possibility to consider (I'm not necessarily proposing it) is to use different blues and reds (for clash only) e.g. like the old royal blue jumper of the 80's. I know it wasn't the most popular but at least its red and blue and better than white and has at least some connection to history. I'm sure someone could come up with some different shades of red and blue that don't clash with existing clubs and still have the melbourne "look". There is a post a few back that shows the old jumper and you can clearly see the royal blue against the richmond black - quite different compared to navy blue vs black. Anyway, just something different to consider.
