  1. The only thing stopping Rohan from being a star is his body. It's a pretty big thing though.
  2. Sadly I think it becoming more of a concern with the expansion clubs making it easy for kids, not only to go home but to the club of thier choice. If he is considered to be a likeliehood to go go home in 2 years, we are not going to get pick 2 back for him. I am normally in your camp, but I think that in this particular case the risk needs consideration.
  3. Please stop.
  4. Impressive. Reckon he is an all rounder, fairly adept at spin. Still don't think we will go to the draft with pick 2.
  5. There are some conundrums with this kid. 1. He has very strong historical football ties with his home state, it is impossible for us keyboard jockeys to assess the risk of the go home factor. 2. He is unlikey to make a concerted impact for a few years due to his body type, if he does want to go home after developing in our system for a while then it is quite possible that his trade value wil drop. There is a significant risk of paying top price for this kid, then selling him off at a discount. Obviously the club is in a better position to assess this risk than I am.
  6. Sports a tattoo of his Top Gun namesake...
  7. I believe we are in agreement, except for your insistence that a club is obliged to accept a player's nomination of club and your insistence that somewhere it is "written".
  8. The point being that the trades are and should be a negotiated outcome between the parties involved. The Adams and Caddys of this world are very much forcing the negotiations in the players favour completely. It makes the concept of Free Agency a crock and with it the concept of equalisation.
  9. You need to use the words in context, I agreed that it was imprcatical. For the third time show me where it is written?
  10. I said what now?
  11. Where? Alternately other than free agency where is it written that a player goes to a club of their choosing?
  12. On the table like a Sizzler buffet. All you can eat for pick 88.
  13. That's a given but there is nothing to prevent the club only dealing with the clubs with the deal it wants, thus presenting the player with a single contract or the choice of a couple. My point is that the clubs shouldn't be held to ransom by a player that has been in the system for three years. It's free agency without having earnt the right. I know that its an argument that has been going on for donkeys, I just think the expansion clubs are making it a bit too easy.
  14. where? I think you will find that it's an issue of both good will and practicality.
  15. Is that written or just convention? Obviously there needs to be contractual stuff eked out so a forced trade would be impractical, but it is actually written somewhere?
  16. Agree with this. GWS are setting a precedent for the expansion clubs allowing this to occur.
  17. Potentially we a trading out a clapped out old ruckman to trade in a much better clapped out old ruckman and teacher. I will find the whole Jamar/Jolly very amusing, especially if we end up in front.
  18. Fascinating period. Watching the MFC manage the media, feeding out tidbits whilst plugging the internal leaks. It almost feels like a professional football club.
  19. What exactly is x factor. Does Dan Hannebery have it, or Sam Mitchell, or Jobe Watson.
  20. So Roosy told Freeman assumedly at an interview that if we don't get Shiel we will pick him?...and Freeman told the Sandy Dragons bloke?...who told the coterie member?
  21. It was a navicular bone, if it has healed then there is no reason not to get him. This guy interests me more that any other of our gettable targets.
  22. Who are the best midfielders in the competion? What are their body types and skill sets. That is your what your "best available" looks like and it constitutes many things. A player that looks great at junior footy or a lower grade may not necessarily make the transition. Silky skills or pure grunt won't cut it. Look at your Abletts, Cotchins, Hanneberys, Mitchells. They are what we lack. Recruiters....go out and find me boys that look like them with similar developing skill sets. Well rounded footballers with a combination of strength, poise, acceleration, skill, competetiveness and durability. Get me them ones. And forget inside/outside mids. Give me the ones that do both.
  23. Never seen him in person but the footage and reports have him looking and sounding like one of those solid well rounded ball winners that we are screaming out for.
