  1. Yeah he'll carve em up, make mince meat out of em! And snag a few in the process. (had to be done).
  2. I have looked at it three time now, wtf is it? Whats junior doing on there?
  3. Despite using an alias YM inadvertantly signs one of his posts again
  4. It seems to me to be really clear from the players we overlooked and the ones we took that we had a stringent strategy in place. 1. Overlook injured players or players that had been seriously injured. 2. Overlook players that had question marks over thier skill level. 3. Overlook players that had less than good to excellent pace. The picks that we took reflect this strategy clearly. We took what we deemed to be the best picks without any of these three weaknesses. I believe we did this because we already have these three weaknesses entwined within our list and are making an attempt to strengthen our list in the areas of skill, pace and fitness.
  5. Consider this highly speculative notion. With the advent of GC17 and Sydney West would that put our club and pehaps West Coast and freo being the teams to really benefit from the last proper drafts fror many a year. Many here have considered the compromised draft as a negative. I see it as a positive as it will mean that our club was the one to bottom out in the three years preceding GC17 putting us at an advantage over other established clubs. If Sydney West were to have come on board as well and we were to finish well down the ladder and get priority picks in 2009 our club may have been the best poised to be at the head of the competition by say 2012 and onwards when our draft picks mature.
  6. I like buckley and strauss at half back or thier ilk. we definitely need some pace and spot ups out of the backline.
  7. I have signed my whole family of 6 on this year.
  8. I think I'll be there. Pissweak I know but I need to confirm a couple of things with the cheese. Will bring some drink bottles and esky if I get there.
  9. This article seems to me to be a message to those people who are questioning whether we have taken enough big men in the draft. We have one that the club rates developing on our list. Clearly the club believes that he is a chance of making it and is sending a message to not only the supporteres but to the player himself.
  10. Bail will play early and exceed expectations.
  11. I agree we need to draft height in the PSD and rookie but it irks me how many people are saying that we drafted the same types of player in the draft. None of the players we drafted are goalsneaks. Just because we have a couple of aboriginal boys doesn't mean they are goalsneaks. Jetta is a defensive midfielder or small defender and he is not particularly quick but known for his hardness and 1%ers. Bennell is a skilled, pacy half back/half forward midfielder/midfielder who is suited to a variety of roles. Bail and Strauss are suited to roles on the half back line and they may move into the midfield and Blease is a pacy wingman. As far as similarities go I would say only Bail and Strauss are similar in the roles they would play.
  12. Thanks M2W but I couldnt do it. If anyone wants to have a go PM an email address to me and I can email them thru. They are reasonable shots of him playing, one taking a big grab.
  13. I have a couple of good photos of bail but i cant upload them, any ideas. I get a message "upload failed etc, contact adminstrators"
  14. Redleg, what the?? Watts is a KPP. Blease looks to be a wingman/mid. Strauss is said to be a half back/mid. Bennell has played his footy at Half Forward. Jetta is a defensive utility with no best position according to his WA profile. Bail is a half back/mid.
  15. Jetta (I think) is not the player that people expect him to be. He is not a pacy skilful goalsneak. He looks more tome like a defensive wingman/half forward. He is apparently a hard hut who gets a fair bit of it and feeds it out according to his coach. Keeps his eye on the footy and has a bit of attitude.
  16. Blease moves like dale thomas - has balance, carries the ball and drills the footy to targets. Turns on the after burners instantly. Looks to need a little bit of space to operate in. Not a high possession winner at this stage. Jetta (I think) is not the player that people expect him to be. He is not a pacy skilful goalsneak. He looks more tome like a defensive wingman/half forward. He is apparently a hard hut who gets a fair bit of it and feeds it out according to his coach. 17. Watts kicks 10 on Queens Bday "10 killer watts shocks the pies"
  18. green warnock garland rivers?? martin buckley strauss moloney morton davey johnson sylvia maric miller watts Rucks: Spencer/Jamar, Mclean, Jones (blease, strauss maybe as a run with player for his development) IC from: junior, whelan, bate, bruce, blease, petterd, grimes, jamar, wheatley, wonneamirri, bennell, jetta, bail, robbo?? ??? Dunn, Frawley, Bartram, Newton, Bell. They may well prove me wrong but not best 22 IMO. In form, the forward line has spark, pace, strength, height and skill. The midfield is crying out for the draftees and will probably remain a weakness in 2009. It has grunt but lacks pace, athleticism and kicking accuracy. we really need blease, strauss and maybe jetta and grimes to continue to develop. Mfc were right to recruit this style of player. Spencer?? can hopefully develop into a good tap ruckman. Sylvia to rotate thru the midfield giving strength around the footy and in the air. Some will disagree with Jones and Moloney but we need thier grunt. We have not drafted the strong bodied types. I hope Moloney gets thru the year and delivers. Jones needs to practice freeing his arms in a tackle and hitting targets with his hands. The inclusion of skilful midfielders will help his cause. The backline looks to be a strength with the likes of petterd, whelan, and maybe grimes and strauss to rotate thru. Buckley to provide run and whelan and green to be the sweepers. garland and rivers give us some ability to mark and rebound. Martin could be anything IMO I think that bail will get a run early as he is further along in his development that the other draftees to see what he has got. Reports are that Strauss is afl ready?? Blease and bennell will be eased in due to thier body size. Fire at will.
  19. That is right and it is being preached and practiced. It is about winning premierships not covering deficiencies. I dont want to be thereabouts for a few years then fall away again. We will not draft recycled players. We will not overpay players which will hamper our future. We will not compromise our game plan down to our players ability level. We will train and coach our players to the appropriate level. The coach is not interested in appearing mildly competitive in the short term to secure his position. We have drafted very obviously for pacy, athletic types that can kick. Very smart move. I want to see all you blokes in 2012 and drink beer and sing a grand ol flag till I pass out.
  20. To think that our Number 1 draft pick will not be able to Don the jumper with a Sponsor attached to it. Shame Shame Shame.....I would have thought that this would have been a very promotable day for any sponsor to jump on board.
  21. BS “That’s not a direct conversation that I’ve had with Melbourne but that’s what we hear at the moment.” Harvey making that claim holds about as much weight as YM posting it.
  22. And under another name is saying that ricciutto is coming to melbourne.
  23. I have no doubt that the club has a plan in place to win a premiership but we are so early in its implementation that there are no real expectations/timelines as yet. The club isnt going to come out and make a call that they are going to win X amount of games next year or a premiership in 2011 and rightly so . I do see that there is a plan and this is what gives me hope. I see that this plan bears resemblance to the successful Geelong and Hawthorn teams in buliding on a team of youngsters. I agree thought that the team needs to get to point where losing hurts, really f%&*#ing hurts. Losing hurts most when you expect to win. This expectation only comes when you have a confident and able group of players who truly believe it. We don't have this yet but it is no fault of the club at this point. We had a core group of young players who didn't know if they belonged out there. I don't know what more that the coaching staff could do other than publicly berate individuals. This may appease the members but it won't help the players or the team.
