  1. i didn't think so. No "Frost is better than Frawley". The truth is such a hindrance when asserting superiority over the peoples of Demonland. The grimy little groupthinkers.
  2. Link? only saw the higlights where he is recieving and kicking goals etc.
  3. Who were those fickle and silly group-thinkers? Can you show me a quote?
  4. I always expect the unexpected. There are always pre-season bolters. A chance of early promotion is a nice carrot to dangle in front of the rookies.
  5. Thread heading into weird places.
  6. "Reckon you need to drop a few kegs? Not saying you're fat, just you might be more comfortable. Ya reckon?" Word of warning ...tried it on the Mrs, not pretty.
  7. I too think he is perfectly suited to being the best player of the modern era.
  8. "In my opinion" and "IMHO" Superfluous.
  9. Have seen him recently, isn't fat.
  10. But all the phantom drafts said that he was ready to go!!!
  11. http://www.afl.com.au/video/2014-09-21/draft-prospect-michael-hartley "Michael Hartley Position: Key defender Height: 198 cm, Weight: 102 kg Club: Coburg Lions Former Collingwood listed rookie Michael Hartley was part of Collingwood’s NSW/ACT scholarship system, a now debunk expedition the Pies used to mine from the Northern region for talent. Hartley had been subjected to the elite system since the age of 15 as part of the scheme, before being listed by the Pies. Unfortunately for Hartley, he never got going. Consecutive shoulder injuries plagued his time at Collingwood and ultimately he was delisted without debuting after two seasons. Hartley was held in high esteem as a development defender, playing negating roles in the VFL down back. Joining Coburg this year, he enjoyed his best season yet. Shutting down opposition key forwards, averaging 11 disposals, four marks and four tackles at VFL level. Hartley’s mature body and height have him highly fancied by a number of clubs, and is a player tipped to earn a reprieve back into the system on Wednesday. Of Hartley’s attributes, is his athleticism and sheer strength. He makes good decisions with the ball, however is best used as a shutdown key defender whose spoiling and body positioning mean he’s rarely beaten in a one-on-one." Like this bloke, biggest worry are his shoulders, but can play. Some more highlights:
  12. Hate to burst the bubble but he isn't fat, probably lacks a bit of condition.
  13. He is not a great kick, but perhaps the scars of seasons past and the pressure of captaincy have taken their toll. It looks to me that he hasn't been enjoying his footy. A couple of wins, a positive atmosphere and a few keen young blokes around him might see him having fun out there again.
  14. Yeah some get lucky, and some are more consistently lucky and others consistently unlucky. Freo picked the right bloke. There is certainly luck involved, and there is always having adequate development plans in place for the youngsters. But some recruiting teams are luckier than others, and that comes down to making the right decisions, based on the information available. Our recruiters have made fundamental errors in assessing the qualities of the draftees, assessing how those qualities would be transposed into the game and in the strategic direction of the game (probably influenced by Bailey). I am not a recruiting expert, I can't dedicate the hours required to make judgements on player X vs player Y but we pay people handsomely to collect and interpret that information and get results. We can't expect perfection when dealing with kids but we should expect to do much better than what we have done. Losers always blame bad luck, we need to get better at recruiting.
  15. yeah, nah.
  16. Thanks MW was going to do all that, you saved me the effort.
  17. I would like someone to post the dimensions of Angus' melon. That is quite a sizeable head he has, will be useful in taking up space in our defensive zone.
  18. Mate all of my stuff is original, unless you think it's crap, then I pinched it from someone else.
  19. Players who make a major contribution in their first year, that is consistently, are the exception. Hopefully we are due for an exception, but I agree with RPFC, we shouldn't be expecting it. What I am expecting is for some meaningful contributions from players in the 2-5 year bracket. In other words accept the exception but don't be expectational of the exceptional.
  20. Baulderstone sounds made for the Paleo diet.
  21. I think we need more experience in the midfield. A midfield that inlcludes Roos, Goodwin and Mahoney sounds pretty good.
  22. Everybody in the house says yeah
  23. We would have to be the hardest football side to quantify at the moment. Anything could happen.
  24. I agree. I see him as a future midfielder that adds a different and very important and different dimension to our list. I think he is a great talent.
  25. Leg speed....
