  1. Its sexist because by definition it only applies to the female sex. Female black widow spiders engage in sexual cannibalism, a behavior in which the female eats the male after mating, hence the name "widow spiders". If the use of the term black widow is used in context to be demeaning, insulting or derogatory, then, yes it is sexist. Just how, in context, does calling Hogan the Hulk demeaning, insulting or derogatory. In context it implies he is of great strength, superhuman and physically fit (if you combine both the cartoon Hulk and the wrestler Hulk Hogan).
  2. A female who feeds off of the mental, physical and material means of a male and then leaves him for dead. A woman who sucks the life out of a male just like a black widow spider does, and then kills him after having her way with him. Take your pick.
  3. Eddie needs to do less of this.... and more of this.....
  4. Can't mark. Can't ruck. Can't jump. His CV must be pretty thin.
  5. Reckon that was one of Jack's best games. When he pinched hit in the ruck in the second half was when we played our best footy.
  6. That's what you deserve when you abandon your forward mates and go and hob-nob it in the ruck.
  7. Why the preoccupation with China? The national sport of China? Table tennis. Why not Japan. Well within our timezone. Proven acceptance of introduce game - baseball. They are obsessed with baseball. Rugby is also popular as is soccer. And they love to see big blokes wearing minimal clothing slapping the [censored] out of each other too. Promote it with some sort of warrior analogy to tie into their samurai culture and Bob's your uncle.
  8. My main game was baseball but played plenty of school footy as well as VAFA as a ring-in for Old Trinity thirds in my early 20s. I possessed the marking skills of Dawes, with the speed of Gabelich, the courage of Cale, the foot-skills of Eishold and the physique of Mick Nolan.
  9. Saint's performance yesterday puts last week's effort into perspective.
  10. Our tackling contributed to the win and to our high free kick count. Harder at it and first to the ball.
  11. As a wise man once said, "Nothing more tigerish than a bloody tiger."
  12. Cloke to kick 7. There's nothing like a match against Melbourne to run a under performing player back into form.
  13. That was a bitter sweet day. Needed to knock off Collingwood (ended up wooden spooners that year) and for Carlton to beat Footscray - they drew - which meant we missed the final 5 (I think) by 2 points. I remember a chorus Of "Melbourne...Melbourne..." ringing the ground in the last quarter which gave me goosebumps. Craig McKellar played a blinder in the ruck. And the best of all was been hit with an umbrella by an old, feral Collingwood supporter who would have been 80. God she could swing an umbrella. I forget who i was abusing, but I probably deserved it. A surreal moment was actually leaving the ground and walking through the tiny back streets of Abbotsford and seeing an old terrace house full of bikies absolutely giving it to all the Collingwood supporters walking past. Never knew we had such friends. Sorry for the rant but this all brought back some great, albeit fuzzy memories.
  14. Our China experiment cost us Scully. Didn't appreciate being chucked on by teammates.
  15. I'm outraged. The club refuses to send me a new membership card after I requested them to replace the one I microwaved and sent to them after the Essendon game.
  16. Harmes - at least he has a go and takes the game on and isn't a shrinking violet and will continue to get better and I like him a lot.
  17. As the wise man of football once said, he "stuck it up 'em"
