  1. I think Frost's impact was intended to be a little more immediate than the other two. A 10 year player perhaps, but definitely not a project player as such.
  2. Reckon it'd be safer to pick two mids with picks 3 & 7 than (slightly) speculative talls. Parish and any of Oliver/Mathieson/Curnow for me.
  3. That's one instance and everyone would be in furious agreement with you re Roughead and Franklin. And yes - the good forwards are usually taken early. Far too often in the past though, we've overlooked the more obvious selections at various picks and it's come to bite us. IMO Parish, Mathieson and Oliver all look fairly certain to have good AFL careers before them. And I want to see this club built an elite midfield.
  4. Because it seems Essendon have a lock on him.
  5. You're probably right GTG. For what it's worth, I'm all for keeping Jesse happy! Just think the mids are safer selections.
  6. Seems unlikely that they will occur though. Parish and Mathieson/Oliver for me.
  7. As much as we need another tall forward, it feels as though the percentage play would be to take Parish with pick 3 and then either Mathieson or Oliver with pick 7. One would think/hope our midfield in a couple of years would then be bordering on elite, especially if we also land Prestia next year. Midfield is the the key ingredient. And we have the chance now to really nail this. The Hawks didn't need Franklin and Roughead as much as people predicted. And the Swans didn't need Franklin and Tippett as much as expected. As part of this, it's obviously imperative that we sign Hogan to a two decade deal though.
  8. I hated the old logo. It's with profound relief that I view this one. Looks good. Less is more when it comes to logos - something Schwab seemed not to understand.
  9. I suspect we are a lot more advanced in terms of our list and the way it's being coached/developed than many outside observers think. I'm expecting reasonably large on field strides next year - not necessarily top 8 but in the mix for a top 10 finish.
  10. Really hope we take Parish with 3. Would then be happy with any of Curnow/Mathieson/Oliver at 7.
  11. Hope so. He showed a bit towards the end of the season.
  12. I have absolutely committed to taking Parish with pick 3. I hope the club has too. Curnow, Francis or Mathieson with pick 7 would probably be a top result too.
  13. Parish and Curnow. Another exciting quinella in the league of Petracca and Brayshaw. And Hogan and Viney. They're building a side here.
  14. Jed Adcock would be worth looking at.
  15. Parish seems a lock for 3. Then Curnow for 7 if available. And if not him, I'd be happy with Oliver or Balic (assuming Weideman and Francis have also been picked up).
  16. IF Watts can become ferocious at the contest, he will be elite. I get that this will involve a monumental change and that, without being hard at the ball these days, elite talent does not translate into being an elite player, but that's all that's required IMO. Brad Green turned himself from a softish player into a madman at the contest. It can be done.
  17. Agree. Will be easier for Watts to shine in a decent, hard, combative team than the piece of tard that he's had around him since he was drafted. He's not a Jack Viney. Nor is he a prolific ball winner. He has other qualities.
  18. I've always thought 25 for Melksham was a good trade. In isolation. That it formed pat of a grand scheme of list improvement plays during the trade period made it even sweeter. That we gamed Essendon all along and then ultimately managed to nail them on pick 3 (which presumably we'll spend on Parish whom they wanted all along) makes it simply unreal. This club is now competent. We gamed all other clubs - except perhaps GWS and GCS, each of whom may very well have been in the tent on what we were doing all along.
  19. Heard from a couple of people that Essendon were/are hoping to land Parish. They're pretty annoyed that we managed to land pick 3.
  20. He looks like Prince Valiant.
  21. Like his attack on the ball. Seems like a bit of a live wire - kind of makes things happen. And I like the fact that he's a country boy. Son of a shearer - they're tough blokes. The club will put meat on that frame.
