If we lose Sylvia and Watts, which appears likely, our list will be even worse than it was this year. We have lost/royally stuffed up so many first round draft picks - it's bordering on ridiculous. I cannot see much improvement next year, even if Jesus Christ is appointed as head coach. In all my years supporting this club, I've never been this low. It's rock bottom for me at the moment. I'm actually flirting with the idea of supporting GWS.

I cannot believe some people are relaxed about Watts and Sylvia potentially leaving. Our list just gets worse each year. The list management at this club is criminally inept.

Vitamin injections are fine. Every club does them. They're not unlawful - even though to the average Joe they seem a little distasteful.

My wife takes peptides. I just read it on the side of the bottle of her face cream. She is married to a passionate Melbourne supporter (me). Surely, on the basis of recent AFL investigations/witch hunts into the MFC, that'd be enough for the AFL to implicate the club and fine us, say, $1m. So, sorry fellas - I think we're stuffed on this one. It's my fault. It's unacceptable. And it's unbecoming. God bless all of us ...

It's all good news going for this club.

It is very much part of any footy discussion. And that's why all footy discussion programs (eg, On The Coach, 360) always review umpiring decisions from the week prior.

Bartlett's stated renewed focus on the football department, with admin (and hopefully petty politics) fading into the background, should hopefully increase the appeal of this club to potential coaching candidates.

Stuie - I'd be stoked if he agreed to coach us next year. But, in my observation, it seems extremely unlikely to happen. He knows we want him, and he knows who we are. Notwithstanding this, he doesn't seem to be bashing down our door. In short, I don't want us to focus on the guy who's not seemingly interested in coaching us - that would most likely be a waste of our limited time and resources. Rather, I want us to focus on getting the right coach who is actually passionately committed to coaching us - and to absolutely nail this appointment, not spend time on dreaming/wish thinking about a bloke who's said he's not interested in the gig.

Isn't that the reason we didn't offer the gig to Damien Hardwick in 2007?

Since 2009, I think they've had only two top 20 picks. And I hardly think Gary Rohan and Lewis Jetta have been stuff ups. I shudder to think how many top 20 picks we've stuffed up in that time.

I'd spend a lot of time finding out who the Swans intend to pick in the rookie draft and pick every one of those players. In fact, I'd also find out who the likes of Hawthorn, Sydney and Collingwood would select with pick 2 and every other draft pick that we have, and then pick every one of those players. I'd also find out which of the players on our list the likes of Sydney and Hawthorn rate, and then offer them all 5 year deals. It's the only way forward.

Nope - it's because he's stated about a bizillion times that he doesn't want the job.

He was. He's not the problem with this list.

Pick 11 if my memory serves me correctly. Still managed to stuff it up though, given that we should've picked Lewis Jetta, Talia or Bastinac (or, to be fair, Tapscott - pick 18) with that pick. But our own brand of professional recruiters obviously knew more that the Emma Quayles of the world. And that's why it's especially gut wrenching to see Richmond and North right now. I feel like shooting myself.

Tapscott could be a young Guerra. Then again, he may not become that player.

And that we traded him for 5 first round draft picks rather than, say, pick 122, which is our usual operating procedure for players that we burnt high draft picks on.

Notwithstanding the highlights reel and the compelling narrative about his journey to AFL, I'd rather we picked Tom Rockliff in the 2009 pre-season draft (who had been training with us) than Liam Jurrah. That said, word has it, Rory Sloane was also a lock in at pick 35, but yet again we failed to play the percentages. Rockcliff and Sloane would be very handy for us right now.

I was hoping Flash would get another year. He's been really effective as our sub IMO. He's been, and continues to be, an extremely important figure at the MFC. Accordingly, the way in which the club handles Flash's retirement is a bit of a litmus test for the new regime IMO. As we all know, the club has been absolutely appalling in the past to senior players, and this has contributed to our poor culture and lack of leadership over the past few years. I really hope the MFC manages to keep him at the club next year in some capacity.

I have faith in our recruitment now that Todd Viney's involved. He'll get it right. It's the Cameron/Prendergast years that leave me cold.

My problem with Watts' approach in the footy show interview - and I suspect he was acting on very poor advice from a manager who's probably not that clever - is that he's just announced to the industry that his decision is all about his own best interests, with absolutely no regard as to what might be in the club's best interests. Even if that is the case, and I suspect it is, a smarter operator wouldn't position himself that way in the circumstances. Such an approach really endears him to no one - MFC supporters or anyone else really. Especially given that the MFC is a struggling club and has always stood firmly behind him. Not a particularly clever approach. There's a reason why the likes of Cameron Ling and Brett Kirk engender so much respect amongst AFL supporters - and it's not because of their foot skills or draft camp stats. They are seen to be selfless players who displayed genuine leadership towards their respective clubs, supporters and fellow players. At all times. On and off the field.

I'd be happy for him to just win the pill 30 plus times and handball it every single time to the nearest player wearing red and the blue, even if that player's sitting on the bench.
