  1. No thank you. Pearce Hanley please.
  2. There's a reason the likes of Manchester United and the New York Yankees are always in the mix. It's money. So I have absolutely no problem with the Dees writing the fattest cheque in the history of the game to land Roos, particularly if it's back doored by the AFL. This could be a game changer for this club. Get it done.
  3. I've read about this bloke for years on this site now. Having seen only glimpses of his performances whilst at the club prior to this year (ie, the few AFL games he's played), I figured he was just a list clogger and wouldn't make it. It wasn't a strongly held view, but it was definitely the way it appeared to me. So - hat's off to those of you who've watched him play at Casey AND who've consistently talked him up as having a lot to offer this club. You were right. Really pleased that we've stuck by the bloke - he looks the goods. And well done to Prendergast too - he's deservedly copped a fair bit on this site, but it's possible we got an absolute bargain here.
  4. 'Realistically', unlike several other clubs, we have very good bookends. And we now have a reasonable spine. Two things Neale Daniher bemoaned following the round 5 loss to the Swans in 2003 when I chatted to him. In short, he said we needed to develop a stronger spine to be able to consistently win the big games. Well, at last, I think we're finally developing one - 10 years later. We just need a couple of really good, experienced mids and one more really good running back/ball user (eg, Pearce Hanley). And obviously to also retain the required players currently on our list. That being the case, I simply don't agree with the assessment of our list in the OP.
  5. Pearce Hanley is virtually my number one target - would be a fantastic addition to our list.
  6. And that was despite the umpiring, which was absolutely appalling. The Swans kicked three goals in four minutes - in my view, as a direct result of the umpires failing to award T Mac a free for his tackle on Tippett. We had all the momentum at that point. Very encouraged by what I watched today.
  7. You'd think we got belted by 100 points on the basis of those assessments.
  8. Absolutely don't agree with this at all. Sign him up MFC. ASAP.
  9. Pearce Hanley is the guy I would love to see running off our half back line.
  10. He has said he doesn't want the role - doesn't interest him.
  11. Perhaps for the club to get Nathan Bassett as another assistant coach too. He seems to be doing incredibly well at Norwood.
  12. Choco with a really good new senior assistant coach, say Scott Burns or Cameron Ling. Craig and Viney to stay on at the club in some capacity. Junior to come back to the club in some capacity. Misson's position to be maintained.
  13. Hey, don't worry about it - I'm okay.
  14. It's my 8 year wedding anniversary this Sunday, which means I can't watch the game 'live' due to conflicting anniversary lunch duties. You know what that means - it'll be our best game for the year, and we might even snatch a truly remarkable win. And I won't witness it. So, put your house on the Dees. I can just see how this Sunday's going to unfold for me ...
  15. Absolutely. Add to that Mitch Clark whom we secured with the war chest we had up our sleeve to retain Scully. Dead set, we dodged a bullet on Scully given what we got in return. Relevantly, no one seems to talk about him as being amongst the very elite mids in the competition - younger, lower picked mids are already making a greater impact than him. And Hogan will be a superstar. It's obvious.
  16. Wish thinking Stuie. What one person said and did is not actually relevant to what someone else may do in similar circumstances. That's not to say Roos may not ultimately be our head coach, but to say he could be simply because Hird ruled it out at some point in time and then ultimately took the gig is the stuff of the shock jock world. IMO Roos will either take the gig or not based on his personal circumstances - and I suspect, at this point in time, something needs to change on that front. He is not a facsimile of James Hird.
  17. I take it Frawley will be a restricted free agent next year as compared to an unrestricted free agent like Sylvia this year. Is that right?
  18. Don't know if the Port players in the sheds shortly after they won that GF would share this assessment ...
  19. What a club like the Bulldogs would give to have the forward line options we have on our list: Dawes, Clark, Watts, *Hogan, Howe and possibly Fitzpatrick. We should have seriously good bookends in 2014. Just need to develop the engine to put into the chassis - there's a big difference between a BMW 320d and an M3. Two experienced mids and a good pre-season and we're starting to look okay.
  20. Don't know about this. Don't think he'd have the Saints in the top 4 this year if he'd stayed. He's clearly a very good coach - but I don't think he's the best in the business. Not yet at least. In short, it was a sweet little sidestep to skip off to Freo when he did. And, relevantly, the Saints had a bloody good list for much of the time he was there - yet no flag. Appointing Neil Craig as head coach with a Scott Burns type as a senior assistant with a succession plan to take over in 2 years may have real merit.
  21. Toumpas will be a gun. I have absolutely no doubt about that. Wines is already a gun. I'd say most clubs in the competition would want both of them, particularly because they have different, albeit complimentary, offerings. Port and the MFC will seek to lock in each player for a very long time.
  22. Just like Brock McLean?
  23. And Rodan. That goal was absolutely bloody fantastic. He was an electric eel last night. The commentators were referring to him as Crazy Horse - in a good way. I really like the bloke. And Howe. For being Howe.
  24. To those detractors in the anti Neeld prayer group, yes.
