In fact, with his VFL stats each week, it seems ridiculous that he cannot get a start in the worst midfield in the comp.
-
Would like to know too. No doubt, we'll delist him at the end of the year only for him to be picked up by a club like the Swans whereupon he'll then become a regular in an elite on-ball brigade.
-
Not if GWS share the assessment of Watts of most who've posted on this thread.
-
I want Sylvia to re-sign. Desperately. I don't really care about Watts. First time I've said that.
-
He seems to be a good appointment, but I don't love the fact that he's only supported the club for the last three years.
-
I think GWS is pretty much resigned to losing Adams. It's just a question of what deal can be done. That said, I don't think any of the GWS players have any respect for the MFC. I reckon he'll play in Victoria next year - just not with us.

Watts will love the tough love he'll get under the Malthouse/Neeld regime at Carlton ...

Casey Scorpions v Bendigo Gold (Jesse Hogan hurt)
Ron Burgundy replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bloody hell. -
Unless of course you'd prefer a Warwick Capper in the head role ...

And what percentage are dumb arse posts that don't actually advance the discussion/debate at all. I have spoken to three opposition coaches and they've all stated that Sylvia is the one MFC player they respect/fear. In 'fact', listen to the Nathan Jones interview on the official website to see who's been getting the tag in recent weeks. But only do so if you actually like hearing the facts.

Who's name was mentioned wyl?
-
Has Pearce Hanley re-signed with the Lions? He'd be a sensational pick up.
-
Looks to be a great appointment. Now let's get Geoff Walsh.
-
He'll re-sign with Richmond. This is just a dance.

I would like to see Jack Watts re-sign with the club. In short, I just can't see us securing a deal commensurate with a number one draft pick who still has a lot of upside. That said, I can't buy into this argument. It's our footy club and I find this angle patronising in the extreme. I want footy players who buy into the intangibles of a footy club - to my mind, it's far more than a 'job'. If Jack doesn't get that, I'd support trading him for a lesser player who does get it.

Has the AFL traditionally penalised us Melbourne FC the hardest?
Ron Burgundy replied to pm24's topic in Melbourne Demons
In short, the answer has to be 'yes'. We have been soft, easy targets and the AFL, in tandem with several lazy, sleazy journos, have taken maximum advantage of this. The 'tanking' investigation, the lack of credible evidence in support of it, the ridiculous hysteria in the media about it/the way in which it was reported, the fact that all other clubs escaped any proper/meaningful analysis in similar, if not worse circumstances (eg, Carlton), all add up to the conclusion that the AFL could make a statement to the competition through victimising the club with no teeth (ie, the MFC). We essentially still got slotted because of an AFL sanctioned rule. And yet, the AFL is now considering funding us and giving us a priority pick. Beggars belief really. -
I've been a supporter of Watts to date, although, if the comments he reportedly made on the footy show are accurate, he's lost me. It seems it was a really clever interview from a guy I had thought was smarter than he obviously is. He can't even play the game off the field. It seems we'll potentially go down in history as the only club who stuffed up two number 1 draft picks - and in consecutive years. I still can't get over the Sloane stuff up. Those muppets at the time appear not to have looked at a player's character sufficiently - that's why we have a number of soft players on our list who lack loyalty/character when the going gets tough - on and off the field. Fortunately we now have Todd Viney involved in player recruitment - his four pillars make absolute sense. I can't believe how bloody inept this club has been for most of this millenium - actually for much of the last millenium too.
