Andrew McQualter - Appointed coach of the West Coast Eagles
darkhorse72 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Lots of guys are highly rated... on the outside, It just seems he hasn't been able fill the role Yze was doing. But we need some new ideas and blood, time to replace the other assistants as they have been with us a long time? -
Part 11 Jason Taylor - visionary or overrated - 2023
darkhorse72 replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
Both the first 2 picks will be long term players for us, if we keep up our development of them. Kynan just looks small, but he'll be a heart and soul player with his determination, the sort of player every coach needs 1 of. As for the trades, but miss than hit at this stage, Grea series. -
Public service announcement...re Kayo

Nah, use it to watch other sports over the summer. -
got a feeling he's not alone

wow, still no score by the swans...

All I want is to hold a tackle, a single tackle, they are like every other teams are just walking through us... if we can hold a single tackle we'll stop their runs. High pressure start and some of our players haven't adjusted to the speed.

Hopefully he'll be clear the GC that he going to us and they don't try to bid on him...

I switch off the Alice game, but watched us live yesterday all the way to the end... Freo were good. They were well drilled in moving the ball from contest to the open, and maintain their structure with players staying out to receive the relaxing handball. They also setup for a fast break from defence. Once it cleared half back it was one, very quickly as their players run very hard to be an option, hence all the 1 out makes in their forward line. As others noted by trying to compress the field we could not stop this. Our movement from defence. Freo spread and blocked any space very quickly (like we did in 2021 and early 2022), it was impressive to watch. Hence why we often kicked downtime line to a contest against the giants of Freo (Who also controlled our half forward space). Hence I think maybe only a couple of times did we manage to get any runs and flow. Even with Max Trac and Brayshaw in the side, it would have been a challenging game. Personally I blame the open taring session they are now doing. Both games this year in Perth they had an open training session the day before and we got pumped. Up till this year they didn't have them, that's my unscientific reason for losing at our second home. some great signs with the young players, but while we may sneak into the 8, we wont be seriously contending unless we hit some rare form quickly.

They are just waiting upfield for the turnover and are gone. All drawn to the ball

2nd half of that wtf we actually got some control back. Less free players around the ground that killed is up to that point. Also a pretty small ground, about 1/2 full. some of the umpiring has been second rate. that last goal really hurt after getting the game back even. But wd looked better in the middle. Maybe Darcy tiring with his first game back. Up to them he’d been ministering us. half to go.

Can live with that decision, best place for him.
-
Do we have any danger umpires today?
-
I’m are they cone out and say it was an incorrect decision after the game. But it was so obvious to everyone watching,
-
Throw!

need to finish with more goals, get our percentage up

noce Kozzie... how good has Windsor been in the wet. he looks fresh in his running again,
-
Melks... what a goal
-
bloody leant into the free
-
The Dee's brand of hard contested footy. Just sustain it for 1 more qtr and we'll take this.
-
Slippery Kozzie gets passed them all
-
good first half, especially when the rain came (Nice to see). We seem to be playing to the conditions and getting it forward and apply pressure. The most important question is, can we now sustain this for the second half. lets go boys...
-
What I saw was draper in place and Disco coming in and tripping over his hand.. not draper sliding into him below the knees which is the rule. I'll take it.
-
disco got a a non free there...
-
getting it done in the wet :).
