POSTGAME: Rd 08 vs West Coast
First off, it was great to watch the win live. But we’re still clearly a team developing under the new game plan. The Eagles looked to play a high-pressure, defensively focused game. With the exception of one player who consistently stayed forward of the pack near their goal, they relied on quick handballs out to launch their slingshot attack. When the ball was out in space, they were very quick—showing a level of leg speed we lacked—which made them hard to defend. We concentrated numbers around the ball to win the contest, but that left us with little space to break free. I was expecting us to showcase more of the quick slingshot-style movement once we got on top, but we rarely did. We still look slow and hesitant to spot the free man and commit to hard running to create overlap. (Yes, the Eagles were playing a high-pressure 1:1 structure to stop it, but they managed to pull it off.) So instead, we moved the ball steadily with short kicks, then went long into the 50. That just led to repeat contests and constant rebounds. Kolt had a rough start—two marking errors early on. The dropped ball with Gawn was right in front of me. It was clearly Kolt’s to take, but he seemed to hesitate as Gawn came in, and that led to the drop. Then there was the chest mark he spilled later. But credit to him—he kept working and stayed in the game. Fritta… his off-the-ball work really needs attention. There’s a noticeable lack of support for teamates, no shepherds or pressure acts. He seems more focused on getting into space to receive the ball himself, often ignoring teammates in better positions. Around the contest, we desperately need to develop a wide option to exit congestion. As usual, we overuse the short handball in tight, and that’s more about poor positioning than poor skills. As for the forward line until Turner was moved down there we looked very short. It’s tough to generate a contest when you’re undersized everywhere. That said, it was good to see Max get a goal (just!). Three wins in a row now, even if they’ve come against lower ranked teams it builds confidence.

Time to go Goody?
I agree, much better effort in all aspects.

Time to go Goody?
Much better performance but he team, I had to say from the efforts form he coaching team. They need to back it up while painting the style of play they want. Wre we much better or Freo just having a really off day, given our last 2 encounters with them. We have 2 winnable games coming up, thought the tigers are looking more of a danger game.

POSTGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
You look at the great state that tex Walker came back in this year after his off season getting extra conditioning. If he looks after his body like the other elite older players, he'll have a few more great years. Hopefully.

We tried that.... really didn't work out at all, not in the slightest... (Though wasn't Taylor pinched from the pies?)

Geelong FC list mgt re Chris Scott
I still dont get why more clubs didn't take up the deal including us, was his contract that big to take on?

Geelong FC list mgt re Chris Scott
All drafted AFL players have the talent to make it. What makes the difference is the training they have on top of their natural talent. Successful clubs are great at developing their players to be as possible as to the bets they can be. We have done it well in patches, The cats seem too have a great system within their walls. As much as I find Scott annoying, he has been a great coach for their club.

Time to go Goody?
It reminds me of the last years of Daniher, the players loved him, tried to change his gameplay and it was a flop as we fell off a cliff. History is repeating itself. Simply Goodwin and his team dont have the answers. Personally based upon the games so far, the team is not progressing. What we don't want is the situation with Simpson at the Eagles that dragged out too long for no benefit for the coach or the players/club.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
I think that will be the last time I'll tip us for the season. Lucky we're going to get an amazing pick. with our No.1 pick this year. Oh wait! Sadly 10 minutes of team football combined with poor tactics in the first half is not good enough, People are lamenting May and Gawn mistakes, but in the scheme of things it would not have made a difference for those couple fo goals. The team tactically and physically have not been prepared for this season to compete for 4 qtrs. I switch off with 5 to go, so I didn't see the player post siren reactions this week.

Time to go Goody?
The Yes case is getting stronger every week. a 10 minute effort is pre-Roo's type effort.

GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs Essendon
It's half time. we cant score. I would expect to see some major changes to our structure to try and score. We cannot contest anywhere in the air. If they dont, then there is no hope with this coaching group.

TRAINING: Monday 7th April 2025
I really dislike this for any player, I think a single run at least in the 2nds to get touch going is a good thing. It seems if you're talented you can some straight in.

Recruiting - where did it all go wrong
Correct, players want to play as many games as they can. ideally in their preferred position. Like Howe being told he'll be a forward at the pies as part of his move.
