I think the GC will go ahead...its prety much a done deal as they know it'll survive. Western Sydney is a different kettle of fish as it s doesn't have all those ex-pat vic's living there. They'll really have to compete for the hearts and minds of the immigrants in that area to get a strong following. As for Port, as I said all the things they have drag out is what they have said about the dee's, ie low auskick numbers. In the long run I think they will be stuffed as from what I have read, unless you are born into a PA family you hate them. They needed another generic team like the crows, dockers and eagles to get a strong and growing base.

Interesting article about Power needing to seek financial support from the AFL http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/port...7054738317.html $3m in debt and and their very small support base, the AFL state it will take a generation for them to grow support, I think is unlikely due to their links with Port Adelaide and how they are viewed in SA. It will be interesting on how they will be treated this year in the media, maybe the Tasmanian government was right in offering them relocation.

I would suggest contacting the club or one of the local support groups. Here in WA the Western Dee's will buy a few memberships for people to use if they visit Melbourne to take in a game. Good starting point. Cheers Kane

A similar game from a few years ago was called AFL coach by Kevin Sheedy I think. Not bad to play.

So with the $2m we have secured from the AFL/MMC does that go straight to pay off the remaining $2m debt? It would make sense to wipe the debt and remove the interest payments and use an overdraft to make up any shortfall.

The reference to the colours I thought was the most important point...Blood Red, what a great colour and the real navy blue...hopefully it'll be in next years jumper. It was the silly idea to look good for colour TV that changed it for the worse. Also I loved the line about Jimmy in Paris....

The board really needs to become a bunch of bastards to the AFL. While we don't have the money at the moment, quietly getting pushed around is making it worse. Even in private they should be raising hell and demanding that's its not good enough. As they say: The squeaky wheels gets the oil It works for the stronger clubs as the members see them standing up for the interests of their club. Gets the club in the newsfor sponsors as a club aggressively fighting on and off the field for success.

Maybe submit it to one of the papers for publishing as a sports article....papers do print well written articles from outside and you can decline the normal fee if it gets publish

exactly, williams understands what's required to achieve success, and despite being at a lower level the challenge is still the same. Whether AFL or h-grade amateurs the principles are the same. The ability of a coach to get the best out of his men is what is important. 3 time premiership coach is a great record.

Has the club officially stated that will be the loss or is it media speculation. Otherwise a good article with lots of positive actions being taken by the board now.
