  1. If its not mr cricket then he must be getting close. I can't see them putting Watson back in for the second test if he wasn't fit for the first but Hussey's position must be close to precarious.
  2. I agree but the young bowlers seem to be doing fine. When Cummins is fit, one of Hilfdnhaus or Siddle will go.
  3. I remember being at the Boxing Day test that year. We were playing Pakistan and they batted first. There was a big partnership, we took some wickets late but they scored more than 300 and had some wickets in hand at stumps. The news about the earthquake and the tsunami was sort of filtering through the ground late in the day but it seemed like it was just another event and really had nothing to do with us. The enormity of the disaster only came home to me later on when I watched the vision coming in from Thailand and then, a day or two later we discovered that we'd lost Troy. It reminded me that life's a bigger game than any sport.
  4. Colin Sylvia's Tweet Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the boys train with a "good attitude" before the West Coast game?
  5. It's outrageous that the Adelaide doctor gave the evidence he gave at the tribunal on Tuesday night and this bloke is selected to play two days later. The AFL should intervene now, suspend the charge against Trengove without the need for an appeal and ask for a please explain from the Crows and their doctor. This stinks to high heaven.
  6. Moloney 18 disposals 10 minutes into the second quarter. You might say he's pizzing it in.
  7. This is going to be interesting. On what I saw Brown's gone for 2 or 3 weeks at least but does the AFL want the new franchise to lose a key player at a point in time when it's fast losing credibility in the eyes of the fans? Surely, there are technicalities for the MRP to consider ...
  8. Blease and Strauss are being educated to play the game in the current styles and both have had their setbacks in the past in terms of injuries. They're not ready yet and won't find it easy to break into the Melbourne team for a while yet. I find the criticism of Blease yesterday a tad harsh. The whole team was under pressure early and Port could not put a foot wrong. I can't see Newton replacing Martin unless the latter drops considerably in form. However, if the selectors were even contemplating such a move, why play him exclusively as a key forward? He has kicked 11 goals in consecutive weeks and is the elevated rookie. If we fail today in a key forward position then why not reward him with an opportunity?
  9. It's an old April Fools Day joke that the club likes to play on unsuspecting supporters. The Melbourne boys train at Casey and the Casey boys train in Melbourne. Get it?
  10. They must know more than our football department knows about Scully's injury because the official club line on Tuesday was three weeks (Injury Update). You would think that the club knows and that the club is being transparent with members and supporters.
  11. Hawks kick fourth unanswered goal to lead 60 to 49. Looks all over the way were playing.
  12. Goal to Burgoyne puts Hawks in front for the first time tonight.
  13. Cook was All Australian CHF last year so it should not surprise that he is a player of quality. Before last night I expected that he would be kept in cotton wool for a year or two to allow him to grow physically into an AFL footballer's body. The schedule might be pushed forward a little in view of his game yesterday. Compared with PA's Butcher who was also a top notch young KPP, I think he's in front.
  14. Too right!!! A players support system includes family and mates. The money's important of course but your mates are also important to you. Scully played Under 18 TAC Cup football for Vic Metro with Jack Watts, James Strauss, Sam Blease, Jordan Gysberts and Jack Fitzpatrick. Max Gawn was in the squad in Scully's second year at Under 18 level but missed out due to injury. These are his footballinng mates. Sam Blease played in Demon colours for the first time last night. He was a sub and came on and had one kick. This is what he said on Twitter today:- Money can't buy that sort of thing.
  15. I disagree that the questions at the AGM "reeked of praise". There was the one about Bruce that I thought was critical of the club. Someone wanted to know about Scully and others were inquisitive about aspects of the club. A few others were congratulatory. I do agree that questioners at the St. Kilda AGM would have been asking tough questions because the place seems to be falling apart.
  16. There are a lot of people who couldn't believe how dedicated Tom is to his football so why the surprise at people like us who are dedicated and passionate about our footy club?
  17. Yeah, if we're going to improve in 2011 we can't afford to drop games like the West Coast one and we need to win the 8 point games and beat teams like North who might stand in our way of making the finals.
  18. Nick Sautner has been at Springvale, Sandringham, Frankston, Northern Bullants and Sandringham and with the appointment of Brett Lovett, he's apparently weighing up his options and might do a Bruce and hop off to Frankston. The guy played in five premierships with Sandy. He's won about nine Frosty Miller awards for top goalkicker but Lovett thinks his time has come.
  19. Shaun Marsh has been having a good season. His performance yesterday must be the final nail in the selectors' coffin. Similarly, the unfortunate Hauritz who was bowling well till injured in the field.
  20. Last paragraph of the article on Chip Frawley's injury by Jon Ralph in the Herald Sun -Melbourne defender James Frawley to miss up to three months with chest injury Demon fans, the sky's falling.
  21. I was just wondering if anyone knew when and where MFC training starts for season 2011? Thanks in advance.
  22. Matthew Bate = Master Aaron Davey = Flash Liam Jurrah = Jurrahcane Brent Moloney = Beamer Jack Watts = Killer
  23. I have a good feeling about Robert Campbell being at the club. A solid citizen and a cool headed player in his late 20's is just what we need in the wake of the losses of our two most experienced players. In addition, he will fill a major void in the ruck as partner to the Russian. If he's fit enough to get through games as the second stringer in ruck combined with a big man role up forward he could be the coup of the 2011 season.
  24. He was such a smooth mover across the ground. A real footballer. Condolences to the Rioli family.
  25. It's all too often that we forget people like Troy as we go about our busy lives. Thanks Demonland for helping us to remember. RIP Troy Broadbridge.
